Chugga-chugga-choo-choo sushi train! (If your kid has a leapfrog alphabet train, sing along to that). My wife and I love this place. Now, I won't go and say this is the best sushi in Wake Forest or Raleigh or wherever I think I am, but it is good. What drives me here is the train. For those that aren't familiar with kuru kuru sushi, you sit at the bar and the chefs make various sushi items and place them on color coded plates. These plates pass by via some sort of mechanism (in this case, a model train). Each color means a different price. You just take what looks appealing and when you're done, they'll add up the plate stack. If nothing else, it's a fantastic way to sample the menu. Be careful, you can rack up quite a bill with out knowing it. Everything looks good when it's passing by. Mizu has the train running at dinner time and on many occasions we've ended the evening with quite a stack of plates. A tower of plates if you will. When we've been, the staff has been friendly, attentive, and prompt (even though we can be a bit needy with a 3 year old and an infant). After a while, we're usually asked if there's anything that we'd like to see on the train as well. Very accommodating. To be honest, the only think keeping me from giving this place 5 stars is that I've eaten sushi in Japan. As far as Raleigh goes, this appears to be my regular sushi spot. read more

Although this address for this resturant is Raleigh, I still think of it as Wake Forest. Strip mall restaurants always make me nervous, but Mizu stands out. It has a great selection of sushi as well as habbachi style dishes for the non seafood lover in you. The real treat of Mizuis the sushi train. Going around the sushi bar is a train where you can grab any of the pre made plates to much munch down on. The wait staff is very gracious and welcoming. They will help anytime with any questions. My favorite is to take my daughter there for lunch and split the lunch sushi combo. Enough for both of us! A great place to get traditional sushi in a great atmosphere! read more

chu chu train~ sushi~ chu chu train~ sushi~ now it's time to stop, and see what sushi we got they are spider rolls, put them on the train they are spider rolls, let's head off again [repeat chorus, now with bagel rolls] Please sing along to the lyrics with following video: http://youtu.be/Ms3eBRmF57U I was so excited the other day when my friend told me, "oh, you mean that sushi place in Wakefield" that has the moving sushi?" because I am a fan of "Kaiten Sushi," or known here as Conveyor Belt Sushi. Somehow, I felt cheapened by the experience at Mizu. I applaud and admire that they brought an otherwise unknown concept to Raleigh and tried to make it popular; the spirit was there, but the execution still need perfection. It was supposed to be quick, cheap fill of sushi craving, where you sit at a sushi bar, and have a parade of sushi in front of you as you pick and eat; I shouldn't be sitting there looking at same 3-4 plates of sushi, waiting for them to put out more variety, and pay more for the show. (Kaiten Sushi is an art form, check it out http://tinyurl.com/7y2uf67) But I digress. The quality of the food here, sushi, hibachi, or otherwise, were prepared well; I don't really have anything to complain on that. Perhaps I will make a return trip, discard my prior prejudice, and review the regular sushi experience next time. (Originally visited 9/11/2011) read more

My husband and I used to love Mizu. Unfortunately, the manager got our order wrong while training a new employee, then she got downright rude when we questioned her about the overcharge for the corrected order. Sad to say we have not been back after spending hundreds there. read more

Great food, good service, close to home...what more could I ask for! The sushi is always fresh and on point, I get salmon sashimi and it melts in my mouth! Yum! Many of the hot dishes are unique and flavorful. I have food allergies and they accommodate me with no issues! If you haven't been here, it's a must try! A Wakefield gem. read more

Kinda busy, but they have a train. I got salmon sashimi and I tried octopus. The octopus was good in flavor, but a bit too chewy. Still they have a train at the bar. read more

I eat here a few times month, ever since they've opened. It's official. I'm addicted. Love Mizu! The sushi is fantastic, fresh, and mouth watering! I love the sushi train. Allows me to try something new without having to order a whole roll. The sushi chefs are great, and the rolls are all creative and delicious. Even the hibachi is one of the best in the city. Definitely worth trying. Again and again. read more

We've been here many times... The soft shell crab and dynamite shrimp are very good appetizers. Their ginger dressing is very good! I haven't had a sushi roll that I haven't liked. Their hibachi is good as well. Service has always been consistent every time I've been there... read more

I love this restaurant! The food was great! Our server Tui was awesome! They have sushi specials on Tuesday's and Thursday's which is awesome. I love coming to this place. read more

Great food. Always fresh. We sit at the sushi bar as my kids love the train that carries the plates around. For the triangle, it's good sushi. read more

Our favorite Sushi restaurant, even our kids love it! We go whenever we can afford to, which has been a lot less than we would like, in the past year. The sushi bar has a train, which is a hit with the little ones. Their Miso soup is yummy and their salads are just as good. We always order Oozy and Mary rolls. They are so good. We haven't found another sushi place that we like more and I doubt we will. read more

Great sushi. There is something on the menu for everyone. I haven't tried a single roll yet that I haven't enjoyed. It makes it so difficult to pick just two. Thank goodness for the sushi train though! I always come on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the $5.55 specials. Great atmosphere and staff. Though we come every time it is busy, the staff takes their time to be sure you are happy. They do get caught up sometimes but in such a small restaurant with so many people it is understandable. Mizu is the best! read more

Mizu - Domino Roll (Typical Fave) and Smokey Fins (new try, delicious) - Sushi Bars Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

Great selection of sushi rolls. They were fresh and tasted good. The ambiance was lively- we sat at the sushi bar and saw them prepare the rolls. The service was a little slow but it was busy read more

Not a bad place...just not one of my favorites. Sushi was fresh and good, and I appreciated that they offered fresh wasabi (rather than prepared) when I asked for it. Rolls and portions were a bit on the smallish side...and definitely full priced. I've eaten here a few times when in the shopping center, but I would not make a special trip to eat at Mizu. Atmosphere is practically non-existent, and though some like the train feature...It comes off as a bit of a gimmick...and I can't see eating sushi that's been drying out doing laps around the restaurant for who knows how long. read more

I used to be a big fan of this place when it first came out. The train was awesome; the sushi was good (not the best I've had, but by far not the worst), and the service was outstanding. Lately, however, the service has been ...well, bad. Multiple times I've had my server mix up my order, neglect to fill up my drink, disappear for long periods of time or simply say things that were not appropriate (yes, I am serious). I don't know what happened that they started hiring such questionable people, because all the old servers who were so friendly aren't around anymore, and these new people just... don't cut it. I like great service. I'm willing to pay for it (and let's face it, Mizu is kind of pricy for the quality you are getting), and for a while my husband and I, when we decided to go eat sushi and Mizu came up... we both kind of cringed, grimaced, and suggested another place first. We did try it again not too long ago, and it wasn't as bad as it had been, in fact the experience for the most part was fairly pleasant, but it wasn't the outstanding service they had a couple of years ago. And in case there is anyone out there who has an adversity to spicy seasonings, or like myself and just allergic to peppers--their menu is incredibly heavy in spicy or hot rolls. Be sure to read the roll ingredients carefully, or simply request the spicy sauces to not be on it. On the positive side, they have some good plum wines, some tasty desserts (including mochi, which seems to be hard to find in this area) and the train is so awesome. I love the train. tl;dr: Decent food, if a bit pricy, but you could wind up with some iffy service. And yay train. read more

This place was horrible, don't waste your money! I should've known when we walked in because it smelled funny! Sushi was not good and tofu appetizer was disgusting. It was the worst tofu I've ever had at a restaurant! I sent it back and they took off the bill at least. The sushi was not fresh and had a weird consistency. Skip it! We will be sticking with our favorite, Sushi One in Raleigh! read more

We went here after reading the reviews, have to say, not impressed at all! The waiter forgot to put in our sushi order, had to remind him when he brought out our entrees. The hibachi chicken was bland and dry. The sushi was mediocre. Will stick with Haku on Glenwood or Sono downtown. read more

Have been here several times, I haven't had anything but their sushi but I can say that it is definitely worth it for the price. Taste amazing and I will definitely keep coming back, the train is a plus. read more

I love to eat sushi and a aways looking for new places. Usually when I'm in this stripmall for a food run it's for gluten free pizza from Milton's but on this afternoon we decided we wanted sushi and finally got to mizu. I thought the sushi train looked cool, but we went here for an early lunch so it was not in use. The sushi and sashimi we ordered tasted fresh and good. There were some new rolls with combinations hadn't seen recently in other sushi places I have been to. Definitely a place to go back to up in the wake forest area. read more

We go here often for their Tuesday/Thursday $5.55 sushi roll special. I have never been disappointed with any roll I've ordered! Everything is always delicious and fresh. The service isn't so great, but it is tolerable for the yummy sushi at a great deal! read more

My husband and I really like this place. We've now been twice and will surely be back. It's a small place so it seems always to be crowded even on a Thursday night. They take reservations so going forward I'll make sure to do that. The service is awesome and the food outstanding. The prices are also reasonable. The food comes out fresh and quick so it's perfect for a date night with the hubs. While we were there we saw so many people leave due to long waits. This place should think about expanding and buying the space next to it. You can tell business is booming! read more

Stumbled upon this place today and we are SO GLAD we did! The sushi train was absolutely delicious. We stayed for over an hour and took our time enjoying all of the awesome options the chefs were putting out! We went around dinner time and it was still rocking. The wait staff was so great, too. Checked on us often, but not too much, made sure we were all set when we needed drinks and dessert, and were super friendly. One piece of advice- get the Mochi for dessert! It's so delicious and not something you can get just anywhere. Very glad we came here and we will definitely be back! read more

So far my favorite Sushi spot in the area. The Sushi train at the bar is fun fun fun! The plates are color coded to the price, so you just grab what you want off the train. read more

This is an amazing place for good sushi! I have gotten food here more times than I can count! From eating with the family, friends, solo, take-out, booth, table and sushi bar; I've experienced it all. I wouldn't bring young kids here. My husband and I tried that twice and were very disappointed at those dining experiences. That's what knocks off one star: staff was not welcoming to kids. There is one high chair in the entire place and it happened to be occupied at the same time we needed it. We waited extra for the high chair and it was a big hassle more so for staff than for us. I cannot fail to mention the annoyed eye roll by the staff when they realized we needed the chair and were an inconvenience since we couldn't be seated. The restaurant is really tiny. Cute, modern decor and the bar seats more than the tables and booths combined. I do not take my children here, regardless of their well behavior. I didn't appreciate the looks I received from staff for "daring" to bring my kids here. That's very rude. My kids deserve to eat and be respected as well as anyone. The ONLY thing keeping me coming back is the great sushi. The lunch sushi bento box is delicious and very filling. I LOVE the Mary Roll, Geisha Roll and the Domino Roll. Quality and quantity is always consistently wonderful. I usually go with friends or call in a pick up order. read more

Love the food n the staffs. Foods are awesome. I very picky about my fish n they always have fresh fish. The cooked entrées are clean n taste fresh. read more

We went to Mizu this evening for my daughter's birthday. We like Mizu because it's fun to sit at the sushi bar and take the plates off of the train that runs around the bar. It's gimmicky, but it's fun and it's one of the few places in the triangle that has this. So we went there tonight and the place was busy. Take out orders and table orders got filled but the train went round and round with little or no sushi on it. We waited a long time and ate the meager amounts of sushi until, frankly I lost interest. The waitress warned us that the place was busy and that we would be better off ordering off the menu. But we came particularly for the fun of having different plates on the train. If we just wanted a couple of sushi rolls, we could have gone to other places closer to home. At one point a waitress came by and asked if everything was okay. I said other than the lack of sushi, things were great. I also had my diet coke refilled with Dr. Pepper, so for a while, I couldn't have what I wanted to drink either. read more

Great sushi, great service. One of my favorite sushi places in the Raleigh area.

This is the perfect Japanese restaurant. Their service is always spectacular. Their take out is wrapped and taped to exquisite detail. All restaurants should use this restaurant as a foundation upon which to build their services. read more

Superb...the only drawback is that it's fairly small and fills up quick. I recommend.

We came on Saturday and the place was packed. We were glad that we waited to eat there. The food and service was awesome. The manager was very pleasant and attentive. We will definitely come back there to try more food. read more

I've been going to Mizu for years. Its the best sushi in Raleigh! The Bento box is awesome...so is the Sea Bass!

Very cool atmosphere. Staff was very courteous and the food came out fast. Sushi was very good n fresh as was the hibachi shrimp n rice. If ur looking for good sushi and hibatchi in a cool atmosphere then give this place a try read more

Very Very good. I ate there this past Tuesday for lunch, arriving around 11:35am. Lots of take out orders while I was eating. I ate at the bar and no one else sat up there while I was there. Several of the tables were occupied. Sushi was fantastic, and they were willing to hold the hot sauce from the rolls as I requested. I ordered off the specials menu, so the pricing was very reasonable. The two rolls I got were the Mizu roll (no siracha) and the Dynamite Roll (no siracha). Both were excellent, but kinda funky with the cilantro and mint. Got used to it though. Might ask them to hold it next time. The train was not running for the plates of sushi - maybe it only runs at dinnertime? Wait staff was very attentive but would not bring me more napkins as I requested. Kept my glass full which was great because I tend to drink a lot of water. I am planning on going back soon, on a Tue or Thu though. Definitely worth the savings for the specials. Rolls are not huge like you get at other places, but they were very fresh and tasty. Much easier to eat as well. Ordered a miso soup and garden salad with ginger dressing which were both very good also. I highly recommend this place for very good sushi. read more

Great experience, kind staff, quick service, and decently price meals. I plan to go again at some point

We decided to take a trip out to dinner with friends since that is something we haven't done since COVID. Mizu did not disappoint, hostess was kind and we were seated promptly, I think we arrived at the perfect time as the restaurant began filling up quickly after we were seated. Masks were not required, which I appreciated as it made me feel slightly normal again. My first thought when I enter a place I am dining is what is the level of cleanliness and I was very impressed with my observations. Our sushi was fresh and tasted melt in your mouth amazing, Hibachi chicken was so flavorful and the portions were sized well. Props to the bartender, the mixed drinks were on point. Our server Lauren was committed to great service, extremely friendly and kept the drinks coining which is one of the things I find most important when at dinner, we will definitely be back and hope to be served by her again. read more

I have had Sushi at many places in Raleigh, and this is by far the best place around! The sushi is fresh and delicious and the specialty rolls are out of this world. I am reluctant to mention this because they are already so busy but they have a selection of rolls for $5.55 on Tuesday and Thursday (lunch & dinner). Black Jack roll is the best bite of sushi I have ever had. Service and ambiance are just okay, but the food more than makes up for it. read more
