Let me start by saying, neither of my dishes tasted bad. They were just wrong. The Vietnamese summer rolls were not rolled properly and fell apart when you touched them. They also were missing the noodles - just a bunch of iceberg lettuce wrapped poorly around a small piece of shrimp. The pad Thai is NOT what you might expect. It has many vegetables in it (bell peppers, red onion) and the noodles are not the typical wide rice noodles that are supposed to be in pad Thai. They were also an odd yellow color. It was not served with the typical bean sprout, lime and cilantro garnish either. There was not much sauce on the pad Thai and the sauce present is not any sort of sauce I have ever had - there was obviously no fish sauce, tamarin or tamarind used. First off what a rip off. 10$ for 6 pieces of regular tempura fried shrimp sushi. To top it off my Girlfriend got the kids menu sesame seed chicken and it was 3x the food i got for 1/2 the price!!! Food was good but the prices are outrageous. Go try sushi and Habachi to go down the road and the optics wont be as nice but the food quality and quantity are right next to this place. read more

Surprised at the reviews. Had the spring rolls and crab Rangoon. Both very mediocre. The garnish on the spring roll was a huge piece of wilted parsley. I couldn't figure out why anyone would put that there unless they were irritated that we came in at 8:30 for dinner because the hours online say seeing until 10, but they changed them to 9. This thing they call a Vietnamese Fresh Roll is nothing like any Fresh Roll I have ever had. It was all iceberg lettuce and half a medium spring in the whole thing, which was place upon some peanut sauce that tasted like mayo mixed with a little peanut butter. Had two entrees - a Lo Mein, again just so so. But a Moo Shu shrimp that was delicious, go figure. I would give service 5 stars..Our waitress was excellent and the hostess was very nice. I've only been for lunch and have always been pleased. Small, not too loud, good sushi and lunch combo selections. I like to begin with a bowl of soup ... the shrimp wonton is a fave. I either get the mu shu chicken (excellent plumb sauce, although pancakes tend to be dry and fall apart easily) or the steamed chicken with brown sauce. The lunch entrees come with your choice of white, brown or fried rice. Services is hit or miss, depending on how crowded they are, but to be expected. read more

Went to have lunch with 4 people at 1422 and ended up leaving at 1630. Staff could not get orders right. Looked like they were all on drugs. Bar tinder was basically on date l. And all cooks were drunk. When the ticket came out they got our checks and everything was wrong. read more

The rolls were good, the crab wontons were DELICIOUS! I think it's a nice atmosphere and affordable...as far as sushi goes. I had the worst experience at this restaurant. While enjoying dinner with my son a roach crawls up the wall beside me. I notify the server, they offer to move us. I'm addition, I shared that the food wasn't good. There was lack of interest and responsiveness from restaurant management to both of my concerns. We had dinner tonight and it was absolutely awful! This location used to be amazing. It was unrecognizable tonight. The bartenders were drinking and appeared drunk and on drugs. A guy who represented himself as the manager seemed to be on something. Our food was cold and orders were wrong. He was rude and did not want to correct the issue. Our waitress clearly feared this guy. He definitely was not management material. Very disheveled and unkempt. He walked back over to the bar and made comments about our table and laughed and drank with his co workers. It was a terrible experience. So sad this location has gone downhill. read more

Worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a very long time! The server made mistake after mistake. Everything from refilling my drink with the wrong beverage to letting our sushi die in the window of the kitchen because he was too concerned about giving us the to go food we ordered. The lobster roll tasted sour so my concern was that they were serving bad seafood. The steamed dumpling had a puece of bone in it that almost broke my tooth. The service and the food need some serious work. I do not ever plan to return to this location nor do I plan to become a patron of any of the others. read more

We came into town to see our kids for USC parents weekend. Everyone loves Sushi so we stopped at Miyo's What a wonderful experience we had! The food was great! I had the Sashimi platter which was reasonably priced for the large assortment of fish on the plate. Son had several pieces of Nigiri and a few rolls, he loved them all. Service was prompt, We had a waiter named Mike, who was polite, prompt and provided really excellent service. So we will be back to Miyos every time we visit Columbia. We have eaten at Miyo's more than a dozen times including the Forest Dr. restaurant. Of my many visits, this was the least enjoyable meal. We ordered the lunch portion Hibachi. I had Garlic Vegetables with beef. It was well proportioned and pleasant and looks and flavor. I would order it again. My wife ordered the Spicy Chili with beef. She asked if the peas were snow peas and the waitress said yes. It came with regular peas and looked as bland as it tasted. It was also sweeter than spicy. The waitress brought a large side of snow peas as a comp for the communication error. My wife ate one scoop of rice boxed the rest to go. There was no soy sauce or salt and pepper at the table. I asked and she brought a bottle, but the lid was cracked and it spilled when you tried to pour it. I told the waitress and she acknowledged, but didn't bring a different bottle. The lunch pricing was very reasonable. It wasn't very busy for a Friday at 12:30 PM. It is the smaller of the Miyo's chain and doesn't have the ambiance of the others. We will return to a Miyo's again, but probably not this one. read more

This place deserves only one star and that's only for the server. She was very nice. As for the food I did not enjoy a single dish. It was incredibly mediocre. Food was fair but the cleanliness is unacceptable! Tables are sticky, even after they wipe them down, bathrooms are atrocious (unclean and NO locks on the doors)!! I had the Jade roll. The flavor was fine but the roll itself seemed amateur-made. There wasn't a lot of rice or stuffing, and they seemed to rely on the tempura fry to fill out most of the size of the roll. The egg-drop miso soup was okay, although it looked like it had a lot of butter or something in it (it was unusually bright yellow for a miso soup), and there was A LOT of egg. I really like the food here but we went on a Sunday thinking it wouldn't be crowded and were so wrong. Must say the staff was wearing masks and the waitress was great! No attempt at social distancing when it came to seating. We had a person in a wheel chair and struggled to get to the bathroom. All the tables are so close we couldn't get thru ended up weaving thru the whole dang restaurant to finally get to the restroom. NOTE: when we spoke up about leaving they did move us to the side room that was COMPLETELY empty. They have room to social distance so why are they not doing it? Another very disappointing visit to Miyo's has me searching for and recommending another local sushi restaurant alternative. If I could rate with 0 stars, I would. Michelle, the owner and operator, is the WORST thing about this chain of restaurants. She constantly belittles her staff in front of guests, causing the highly trained staff to leave. Her lack of customer service skills is astounding and leaves you wondering how she has been successful at all in business. The only reason to patronize one of the M collection is the food. This evening I was craving upscale Chinese food and decided to get take out from Miyo's on Forest Drive. I had gone to this location a few times prior to their kitchen fire and had enjoyed the food and service. After being told the order would take 20 minutes to prepare, I waited about 25 to show up. When I gave my name at the bar/take out area, the bartender said "No problem, your order is right here" and pointed to a bagged to go order. Five minutes later, he was still trying to find the person who rang in the order - apparently he wasn't allowed to take my money and let me leave in peace. Not good... Once he finally got the young lady who was allowed to take my money out to me, she gave me the total - which seemed a bit high - and then gave me the semi - detailed receipt. 8% tip was added to the check. Normally I'd tip above that, but cooling my heels while staring at my food order had me in a foul mood. When I asked about the built in tip, I was told that someone named Leslie had added the mandatory tip to Forest Dr. take out orders because of their high volume of take away. I made a rather snarky comment about my wait not really earning a tip and left, order in hand. So how was the food? Chicken lettuce wraps - filling was decent, but not quite as flavorful as I remember. The lettuce had apparently been stored under something weighted as the leaves would not come off evenly. I ended up giving up on the lettuce and just eating the filling. Chicken egg rolls - greasy with absolutely no flavor and a very tiny bit of chicken. These were terrible compared to the last time I tried them. Triple Gourmet Birds Nest: This was cooked as it should have been and the portion size was right. The sauce, however, was very bland compared to the order I had a few months back. One other peeve: No chop sticks or flatware or napkins in the to go bag. Really makes me glad I didn't add to the tip. Final verdict: I won't go out of my way to go to Miyo's. I have a few friends who like them so I'll probably be back, but I'll eat something before I go. read more

The decor here is beautiful. Its intimate and you can tell its carefully thought out. I loved my server and everyone working was super nice. But I dont know. I just dont think its that good. This is the third miyos location that I've been to and each time I always think what am I missing? Am I ordering the wrong stuff? Ive never found it that fresh or that great. Ive tried the udon noodle soup and it was pretty much flavorless even though it was full of meat and noodles. The broth is always my favorite part of any soup and I think really shows how good it is. This broth tasted like water. I will say the phat tai isn't to bad. It was a good portion and had a nice flavor. But for me the kicker are the Vietnamese summer rolls. These were among some of the worst I've ever had and I'm including the ones we made camping once when we forgot all the ingredients and basically only had the wrapper, some green peppers and lots of love. These shouldn't even be on their menu. If my mom was with me (the best Vietnamese cook I know) she would've sent them back. They were flavorless half wrapped rolls of shredded iceberg lettuce and thinly sliced shrimp with an artsy drizzle of sauce. They actually made me physically angry to look at them. I did like the oolong tea though and on the menu it said it was a fat burner so thats always a plus. read more

The parking lot always seems full at this location, so it was time to give it a try this last Wednesday night. They have an extensive menu with a wide variety of stir fry, sushi, and sake. My mom and I shared some edamame, each had a cup of soup (miso for me, hot and sour for my mom), and went with a couple of stir fry options (shrimp & spinach and a 'build-your-own'). Everything was fresh and tasty and served quickly. Service was great, our server was knowledgeable and very helpful with the menu. Management was visible as well and stopped by the table unprovoked to check on things, which is always appreciated. All in all a good experience, worth the stop if you are in Forest Acres. Came in for Friday night dinner around 8ish. They weren't overly busy, but you could tell they had just been through a rush. We were seated at a small table for two. We started with Crab Wontons. They use a really high quality cheese mixture and the freshest crab meat. So good. For dinner, I ordered Kung Pao Scallops and my partner in crime ordered the Crispy Flounder. The scallops were large, cooked perfectly, not overly breaded, and the peanut sauce was amazing. The bell peppers in my dish were so fresh and crisp. The Crispy Flounder was absolutely amazing and included a really nice fresh mango in the sauce. We loved every bite. The service was great but not all over you trying to be attentive, which we appreciate. We usually order sushi at Miyo's, but their other options appear to be incredible! This place is a great place to grab some sushi in Columbia SC! We went to it on a recommendation from church friends and were greatly pleased! Not only did it please our sense of taste, but it did great with the other senses as well! From the moment you walk in this shop, it is aesthetically pleasing in every way! A beautiful Asian design with lanterns, bamboo, and a little touch of american. Also, the aromas that greet you are enough to make your mouth water! For your sense of hearing they have pleasing radio tunes that are not too overpowering for conversation but just at the right level so you can converse and be entertained with music too! Awesome. This was my first visit to Columbia and I didn't expect such good Asian food. I got some sushi while my companion (who eats here all the time) got a Chinese chicken and rice dish. For under $20, we had iced tea and plenty of food! On top of that, the service was impeccable - the waiter was perfect. Decor was great, ambiance was nice and chill, even the restrooms were clean. I try not to overdo it. . .but I generally eat there or have takeout every week or so! I have been eating at Miyo's on the regular since college and it's just as delicious as always! I always start with the veggie spring rolls with extra duck sauce and NO mustard. I don't know why but I despise that mustard. Anyway... scarf those down while waiting on the main course. I usually get the sesame chicken or the general tso chicken. When I do get the GTC the friendly staff are more than happy to accommodate my request for it to be prepared less spicy. Boyfriend always gets the general tso shrimp which I'm not sure is actually on the menu but they make it for him when he asks for it. Sometimes... when they have it... I'll order the coconut cake. I don't know where they get these cakes, but I would marry the baker. The coconut cake is fantastic and light. The cream has a wonderful coconut flavor but the actual coconut flakes are on the outside. I like to pretend that I'm at Harry and Sally's wedding when I eat it. The actual restaurant is well decorated and there's a back room that can hold about 20 (so come on and grab your jukebox money). One tip - if you go at night then you might get some headlights in your face depending on where you sit. There are parking spaces right in front of the building so when people pull in they might temporarily blind you so watch out! read more
