Miyabi Jr express located in Lexington, is closest hibachi to Chapin with a 31 minute drive. Being that the drive over and back for Chapin residents will take you hour minimum is unfortunate. This restaurant is set up just like the one in Florence we enjoyed except there is more indoor seating table/booths. Our food was made to order with no complaints by me. The pricing is adequate for the portion received. The staff on night we arrived were socially pleasant. Other than the distance the other negative for me is that they close at 9pm on weekends. An express take out version of Miyabi hibachi down the street. Their prices aren't cheap, but their Japanese entrees are really good. Their menu is pretty diverse as it has other options besides hibachi, such as chicken katsu. I ordered the chicken and filet mignon hibachi combo for my first time experience. The chefs cooked it on the grill in the back, so everything comes out fresh. The taste was as if you were eating it at a sit down hibachi restaurant, so the $20 per plate was definitely worth it but not cheap. My filet was cooked medium rare and came out the way requested. The sauces and seasoning weren't over powering and definitely not overly salty compared to other hibachi restaurants I've gone to. It's a great portion size too, with a scoop of friend rice, veggies and your protein choice. The staff were friendly as well. As a first timer, I wasn't sure about the menu items, so the lady up front gave me some recommendations and explained what the entrees were and what they came with for me to make my decision. The food is great as always! Love that we have the option of Miyabi Jr vs going to the sit down Miyabi where they cook in front of you. This option helps with the cost, which even the take out is high these days. Thankfully portions are so large, it's easy to share a meal and make it more cost efficient. Not a fan of the checkout at Miyabi Jr where they flip around the screen for you to sign when using your a card. The prices are high enough already, I don't believe I'll be tipping the person behind the register when I have to wait at the counter and carry my own food and make my own drink, and THEN go sit down. What am I tipping the person taking the order for, they never come from behind the counter? The tip begging needs to stop at the check out counter at Miyabi Jr. I want to emphasize that the food is great, however, asking for a tip from every single customer at a self serve restaurant is ridiculous and way over the top- to the point of annoying if you ask me! The lowest tip option is 20%! So, when I order my steak bowl @ $17.99, I owe 8% SC State Sales tax, then another 20% for a tip for someone to take my order?? Nearly 30% more than the sticker price !! No thanks, I'll be using the "no tip" option folks. Starbucks and other fast food places took advantage of our kindness during Covid with their flip around screens asking for tips. Sorry, but with the cost of living as high as it is, I won't be throwing out any extra money to fast food facilities for tips on services I didn't receive. For what this place is, express hibachi and sushi, you're going to be happy. All the food is fresh, the soup is always hot, and the portions are very comparable to what you'd get for double the price at a formal hibachi joint. I've never had any issues with how my filet is cooked (always medium rare, every time) and I've never had any issues with the service. My go to order is the shrimp and filet with an onion soup, and I can never finsih it all, AND it's under $20. The staff is on par with a typical "fast casual" eatery, they're not working for tips so don't expect them to kiss your ass as they work. Their dine in service is suitable for covid protocol, but I usually just get take out and they're always on point there, too. If you want the flashiness and service from a formal hibachi restaurant, you're better to go elsewhere. If you want the awesome food of a formal hibachi restaurant without the price tag, you're gonna love this place. read more

But the crew leader was getting a bit upset with customers who could not find their silverware...after he brought the food out. **The REASON: The forks (no knives) are placed inside..... of a white bag....that is FLAT....So when they bring your order to the table, they place the bag on the table along with your receipt. (And this bag ....just looks like a piece of blank paper)** My SUGGESTION: Either....Tell your guest that the fork is INSIDE of the envelope..... Another restaurant my coworkers have gotten me hooked on. They lured me in with the promise of something better than Tokyo Grill. I told them they were insane, and they proved me wrong. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is clean and the staff is extremely pleasant and friendly. I enjoyed dining in as a treat to myself, but the take out is just as great. Every time I go here I get the hibachi entrée. I order the steak and chicken teriyaki ( you have to ask to add the teriyaki) that's not an option on the menu board. With the hibachi vegetables, I get the Yum Yum sauce which is amazing and mix it all together so delicious. I had filet and chicken hibachi. The "filet mignon" I had was anything but...I couldn't even chew it. The chicken was tender but NOTHING had seasoning.
