Been coming to Miyako for about 15 years now. Jay behind the counter is great, the food is consistently excellent, and the service is friendly. My only real complaint is that lately they've leaned hard into mobile and DoorDash orders. The last two times we went, we waited almost an hour for our food because we watched a steady stream of to-go orders get made and sent out the door ahead of us. I'm glad it's good for business, but you've got to take care of the people sitting in the restaurant first. The restaurant has a really fun land happy vibe and just feels like a great SC spot where everyone is happy to be there and they're always welcoming! That said, it's still worth it. I went in at 8:30 PM. It's great they're open so late and the staff is so friendly. I got the shrimp tempura Ramen and the shrimp was so good 10 out of 10, the whatever role was also so delicious especially the garlic Ponzo sauce. Since I was there right at opening there was zero wait time! Haha I sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chefs were very efficient at getting my orders out quickly, thank goodness because I was starving! My first choice was the Garlic Yellowtail Sashimi which was great! I like spicy so I tried the Man on Fire and the Oh Yes Baby rolls (I forgot to take a pic) which was suggested by one of the sushi Chefs. I heard we need to try the sushi here. We went here for lunch the first full day we were in town. We tried several things. I really liked the miso soup. It was perfect for the overcast day. We thought the edamame needed more salt. We loved the tempura vegetable sushi!! We sub'd out the seaweed for rice paper. I probably liked this better. I don't love the taste of seaweed. This sushi roll was kind of crumbly so it was hard to eat but nonetheless delicious! We didn't love the paparazzi sushi roll. It had so much cream cheese & avocado. We actually didn't finish this. Loved the nigiri. The chicken teriyaki was really good. I loved that they cut up the chicken into bite sized pieces & there was a good amount of teriyaki sauce on it. We ordered the tempura veggies & I liked the tempura on this. I didn't love the menu. It was hard to navigate. There weren't a lot of vegetarian options here either. read more

First off the food here is solid. It's not the best but not the worst. The biggest downside is the service is super slow. We have been here many times during peak hours and when it's slow and that doesn't matter. Not sure if they're just short staffed or take things slow but do expect to take your time. If you're not in a hurry then you shouldn't have any problems, but if you're on a 30-45 min lunch break then you probably won't have enough time to eat. Takeout can be a mess too as we've called in and they said "15-20 minutes" to be ready and ended up waiting for an hour and 30 minutes. Usually during peak hours they'll give us a heads up it can take an hour or so but we've had many instances where it was slow and we were still left waiting. read more
