This is Bend, so not surprising that this ramen shop is owned (George Morris of Bos Taurus) and staffed entirely by white people. All-in-all, Miyagi serves decent food, and they prepared a fairly large takeout order (7 bowls of ramen) pretty quickly and efficiently for us. Ramen broth and noodles tasted fine, but there were a couple of minor issues. It seemed a bit strangely stingy that the tonkotsu ramen came with an egg, but the spicy miso ramen did not. Do they think spice lovers don't like eggs, and vice versa? Weird. Also the tonkotsu ramen inexplicably came with charred chunks of potato as a topping in a strange instance of caucasity. I'm all for experimenting with new flavor and food combinations, but these simply did not taste good - at all. Everyone in our group picked them out. The pork belly buns were dry and tough as well. I did like the option to add chicken katsu as a ramen topping for $3, so +1 star for that. read more

Problems with my pickup order: 1. Did not receive the chili oil that I paid extra for. 2. Ordered two bowls of ramen, both of them had eggshells in it. If you're looking for one step up from the packaged ramen at the grocery store, this is it. However, it doesn't go much further than that. The ramen bowls are pretty basic compared to many ramen places that I've been. That and they couldn't even perfect a basic ramen bowl, leaving eggshells in both bowls of ramen and forgetting the chili oil I paid extra for. Some attention to detail would be great. read more

Miyagi was my go to place but in the last year the service has absolutely tanked. The menu for take out on door dash and Uber eats isn't updated and they have a habit of "preparing your order" only to cancel it 5 minutes before closing. The food quality has taken a hit too, the broth often has some sort of burnt sediment on the bottom, the chicken karage has come over cooked and stringy in our last three orders. Hope they can get it together, it's one of the only local ramen places that offers gluten free noodles. Do better Miyagi! read more

We were craving ramen and got their spicy miso, it hit the spot! Pro tip: get the chilli oil. Is it the best ramen I've had probably not, is it good ramen yes, but the service was outstanding. We were an hour away from Bend and wouldn't have been able to get back in time to get food at most places (since a lot of them close at 9:00 pm). Miyagi too closes at 9 but we asked if we could place an order, pay for it but pick it up at 9:20 pm and they accomodated us. That in my books is amazing service! Im in Bend for the week and a new colleague of mine let me know that his trustworthy friend from out of town told him "you have to try Miyagi ASAP". That was good enough for me so I ventured in on Tuesday after work. Everyone was super nice, they brot sanitizer to the table and checked in on me a few times to make sure everything was ok. Ummmmmm Ya, it was! Im always on the hunt for some bomb Ramen and where I come from there is no such thing. SF has some decent, LA has a couple great ones but this tops all of the ones I have ever had. The broth was flavorful, the spice was perfect and the pork belly was hands down the best slice of heaven I have ever encountered in my ramen. It was a thick juicy cut with a crispy outside. I would pay just to eat that but the ramen is too darn good! It was so good that saved some for later just so I could taste it again. No lie, its that delicious! Stopped in for lunch on July 19. Had a tonkotsu ramen and a smoked mushroom hazelnut ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was pretty good. It had a nice broth and good flavor but served warm not hot. The mushroom hazelnut was tasty and different but was served barely warm. Both of these dishes cost about $20 which seemed a bit high. The service was poor. You order at the front counter and get a number to bring to your table. We got our own water, napkins and utensils. The food was delivered and they have a sign advising customers that they will bus tables. They are very slow. Even though there were only 2 other tables of customers - one in before us and one after, it took 19 minutes for them to serve our 2 bowls of ramen. Despite the lack of service, they are eager to request tips when you place your order - the choices on the tablet were 18% and up. I guess if they did not get it in advance they would not get any tips - on the other hand, if service was better it might not matter. Though I did not look too much at the prep area, I did notice multiple instances of kitchen staff eating or sampling food on the cooking line. The prep people were also not wearing gloves. They are serving take away but they also have 3 patio tables although they don't advertise outdoor seating, you can eat there with your take away. 2 covered tables, 1 uncovered. I am not vegan but I ordered the vegan ramen with chashu pork belly, soft egg, and chili oil and I have to say it did not disappoint! It was super flavorful despite not being the traditional tonkotsu broth. It was creamy and hearty and not too spicy either. I love that the vegan ramen comes with a bunch veggies and fried tofu cubes. My partner ordered the traditional ramen and it was also very flavorful. The chashu pieces are thick cuts of pork. We ordered 1 of each flavor of the steamed buns and I enjoyed the chicken katsu bun the most since it was a nice crispy chicken piece but my partner found it too pink for him but I felt it was okay. The steamed buns themselves are smaller than a fist each, really appetizer size. The service was also very nice and they brought waters and checked in on us. Omg it was so good (other than the tomatoes, I pulled those out because it was weird) but besides that amazing delicious ramen. We also had the steamed mushroom buns and they were amazing as well. So...what can I say about Miyagi? First actual Asian Ramen place in Bend and it is delish! Sometimes I go a couple times a week! Their steam buns are phenomenal! I always get 1 chicken Katsu and 1 pork belly! There is a purple sauce in there that I don't even know how to explain but OMGOODNESS! And their ramen...100% legitimately amazing!!! They are really kind to me and let me get the kids size with pork belly or katsu and I usually add an egg! With the buns...it's the perfect amount! Also, they have my favorite pink sake!!! The staff is amazing. Chef Jeff Schipper is my fave! So happy to have another Asian place to eat here in Bend! One day I'll get out of my comfort zone and try all the things! read more

Service was fine. Went there for the first time with my wife and was disappointed by the lack of ramen options as well as the quality due to that lack of available ramen dishes. With only 3 main choices of ramen dishes *with allotted options for additional or substitute meat and vegetables, we felt as though the noodles and broth were missing variance in flavor and fluidity of texture. We tried both the tonkatsu and spicy miso.... Needless to say, the broth felt sub par and the noodles had the texture of any store bought wheat flour noodle. For the price point and the seemingly high reviews it could have been way better. Amongst the ramen my wife and I have had the privilege to have, this ranks above store bought 'Shin' and well below other ramen I've had in other restaurants. Interesting way of service. You order and pay first then wait to get text that your table is ready. A little awkward because if you want to give gratuity for great service, you need to either take a chance if you use credit card or have cash at hand. We ordered and wandered. 15 minutes later we got text. When we back in, we were told it was a mistake. Not big deal, a little annoying. When we finally got seated, it was about 5 minutes to get food. I had one steamed mushroom bun ($5.50 - they are bigger and $3 at dump city) and mushroom vegan ramen ($14) soooo $19(+ tip) for not much mush. I just read the review that someone ordered the pork belly ramen and got a huge serving... why did I pay more money for a meatless option? If the reasoning is raising a pig, feeding / watering the pig for years and then slaughtering and slicing up the pig is cheaper than growing some fungus and a few cashews then you must be buying the cheapest inhumanely raised pork in all the land. They also served a tiny bit of ramen in a giant bowl making the servings look even smaller. Rookie move.
