Bowls created during a beginner pottery class.

MIY offers classes for bother ceramics and glass fusing. The people there are really friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. In my opinion, the classes are a bit on the pricey side, but they do run sales and specials on occasion. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to learn how to throw or sculpt pottery.

Had a great time here! Frances was phenomenal. She took her time and shared the history of clay. It was such a great experience. The soft music playing in the background allows you to walk in and and forget about everything on the outside. You will find yourself focusing on your masterpiece. I had a private party for my family and we can't wait to return. Frances took her time and showed us the basics of whats needed to be done a stayed around and assisted us one by one. The entire staff was sweet, they walked to our table and gave her techniques as well.

I had so much fun with Frances during the glass fusing class. It was very educational and exciting. I enjoyed the time I spent creating glass art and can't wait to go back to do more. My piece is not fused yet so the photo is a before.

I friend of mine took me here as a birthday gift. There is no trouble finding free parking in front of the entrance. It was our first experience with mosaics and we had fun. The "teacher" was knowledgeable, pleasant, and most of all super helpful. I recommend anyone without experience to start with a small piece because it took me the entire length of session- 3 hrs- to complete my lizard. I want to return to do the glass painting. She didn't tell us what classes they offer but we noticed the glass pieces and asked about it. There is also a room to make ceramics. My only regret is not having brought a bottle of wine , but we were told we could. So, we will be all set next visit.

I went to this place last June as an activity hosted by a Meetup group I'm in. it took up two Saturdays, one to work on the clay and the second one to paint the already-baked pieces. I do enjoy arts and crafts but I'm not exactly good at them, so I went expecting to just make a mess and enjoy a couple of mornings with some nice, fun people doing something different. Surprisingly, the class is nice and clumsiness-proof. In the first class we had fun, learned how to do mugs and vases and plates (though hand-made, basic classes don't teach how to use the wheel, because it needs more practice to dominate it). They give you the pointers on how to do stuff and then let you create whatever you want, give you help if you need it, or suggestions when pertinent, then they take the pieces and you go home while they get their turn in the oven. Next scheduled weekend, you come back, they instruct you about the paints and the glazes and how to apply all of it to the pieces, and you decorate your pieces as you like, leave them again for the paint to be also baked. They either call you or email you (according to your preferences) to tell you the pieces are ready, and then you can enjoy using (or decorating your home) with your own creations. It is a fun group activity to do.

This place is amazing! Whether your an established artist or a first timer like me, you will have an unforgettable experience. Kathy was amazing, kind, creative and patient as she guided us through the process. I will be coming back many times!

We went with a groupon. The groupon gets you a lesson. If you want to make something, you have to pay extra. If you want to paint it, if you have to pay extra again. Everything is a la carte. We chose to make a small cup $10 and a soap dish $5. You work at your own pace and the instructor comes around to assist you. He did model how to make a cup so many people chose to do that. There were 8 of us in the class. You come back in two weeks to pick up your item and then at that time you can paint it. The studio has space for you to rent and you can use the studio by the hour which includes all of the tools. They offer other classes : paint a wine glass, pottery spinning, etc. There was parking along the street out front. They accept cash and credit cards. Overall, I thought the class could have been better organized with the instruction. If you are creative and like to work independenttly it is a good class.

Friends and I bought a Groupon to the mosaics class. It was like $14 but when you get there, you have to pay additional for the materials that you use. It will cost more the bigger project you choose: I made a mirror frame for $20, my friends made coasters for $5 each, and there are projects in between. The class takes 3 hours. We had a nice young lady who taught us (I forgot her name). There are a few examples of completed projects and she passed around printed pictures of mosaics, but there are no templates or step by steps to follow...bring your creativity! You gather the tiles you want to use and are instructed on how to use the tools. Our instructor is really energetic and interactive, and she kept us on track with time. You then are taught how to grout your art, and she wrapped up our pieces to go. She was also really helpful finding specific supplies around the shop, like if we needed a specific color tile, and she was clear in explaining steps or clarifying for us when we got lost. The shop itself can hold 3 separate classes at once. It may get loud with the different crafts going on and instructors talking. Other reviews say that the other instructors weren't engaging or critical in their classes. I could overhear the class at the tables next to ours and the instructor did seem to be rambling about other subjects instead of instructing (ok, my friend and I started eavesdropping). The classes at MIY are more complex than the usual step-by-step painting class. I think their classes are more adult-oriented. My hands hurt breaking the tiles for the mosaic, so I think that younger kids will need adult supervision if you bring them for crafts other than painting.

Took the mosaics class at this studio, and it was excellent. It was relaxing and the instructor, Jennifer, was wonderful. All of our creations came out great. The only one complaint is that I used a Groupon, and the deal was a little misleading. You need to purchase a base to put your mosaics on, and I didn't think it was required. I thought, that if you wanted to upgrade your piece, you can purchase an upgraded base. The kitty base cost $18. So it ended up costing $30.50 plus tax. It is still a great deal, but I wish it was more forthcoming.

I'm sad they took away the canvas painting options as that was the reason we drove 30 min just to come to this specific location. My fault as I should have called first to double check if they still offered the canvas painting. This is the only location I knew of that did that. Oh well. There is a huge selection of pottery pieces to choose from. Prices vary pending on your selection. Came here with my daughter and she selected the cute little tea set. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price at $54! But this is what she wanted so I cannot deny her happiness. Haha. I mean I can but I didn't know want to. It took me a while to find what I wanted to paint that was practical. We have so many pottery pieces the kids make that are just for decoration. Love when we make plates, mugs, bowls or any kitchen pieces as they are most practical. I chose the geometric vase! The vase was $37. There is also an additional $8/per person studio fee to use everything (brushes, paint, materials). This stuff can add up quickly. Our total was $117! Ouch. But fun and you can't put a price on fun experiences. Lol. Once you pick your piece, the staff will bring you a bowl of water and a paint palette. All brushes located at the tables. The you select the colors you want and put onto your palette and bring back to the table to start painting. We took our time and was here for 2 hours. But our pieces were meticulous. Ha. They also offer coffee here which is a nice bonus. Once you're done painting your piece, you can use the blow dryer to dry the paint, this prevents smearing. Give the finished pieces to the staff and they will label it for the final touch of glazing and thus completing the process. It takes about 7 days and they will call you when it's done so you can come back and pick up the finished product. Can't wait to see ours!

Employees are untrained and seem unsure of how anything works. I recently placed a pickup order, and the item was out of stock. This store waited until I got there, then treated it like a return--asking for the card I paid with and even requesting my social security number just to process it. Completely unacceptable. On top of that, I placed a curbside order and was told to go inside to pick it up. What's the point of offering curbside if I have to walk in? This location went from a 10 to a 0. On top of that, your team told us we had to pay for ribbon, something that would have been included if the balloons had been filled by your staff. When we tried to explain how important this was, Brooklyn, the manager, showed no interest in helping. She had a terrible attitude and walked away while we were still speaking. Tom and I talked about using some of our pics from trips and moments in time as living room wall art. We figured it would personalize the space and remind us of fun times. CanvaFab's site has a nice gallery of work. We picked 32" x 16" size canvas and were concerned the images might look fuzzy. But on my screen each pic looked great, so we started to put an order together. Then they emailed me a new customer code for 50% off my first order. Yeah baby! That tipped the scale and, willing to take a chance on the picture quality, kept ordering. I got emails during the process - I knew when they got the order and when they shipped the order. They managed my order without being asked - thank you CanvasFab.
