This is by far the worst Michael's I've ever been to. I used to come here regularly for years with no issues, but something clearly changed--whether it's the staff, regional management, or both. The service has completely gone downhill. Employees are untrained and seem unsure of how anything works. I recently placed a pickup order, and the item was out of stock. At every other Michael's, the app cancels the items and refunds me automatically before I even arrive. Not here. This store waited until I got there, then treated it like a return--asking for the card I paid with and even requesting my social security number just to process it. Completely unacceptable. On top of that, I placed a curbside order and was told to go inside to pick it up. What's the point of offering curbside if I have to walk in? This location went from a 10 to a 0. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at your store around 8:00 PM while trying to get a few balloons filled for my daughter's birthday. We were told you would not fill them, even though we arrived an hour before closing and the store was completely empty. We were given an excuse about a policy that is not posted anywhere and was never communicated in advance. That refusal forced us to spend forty dollars on a helium tank we did not need. On top of that, your team told us we had to pay for ribbon, something that would have been included if the balloons had been filled by your staff. When we tried to explain how important this was, Brooklyn, the manager, showed no interest in helping. She had a terrible attitude and walked away while we were still speaking. It would have taken five minutes to offer basic customer service. Those five minutes would have made a huge difference for our child's birthday. Instead, we were left frustrated and scrambling. I will not be returning to your store. I will be taking my business to Amazon and other retailers who actually value their customers and make an effort to be helpful. Do better. read more

I found nothing outstanding from the store, neither good nor bad. It was stocked but help was difficult to find on the floor. It seems more and more the norm at every location. It took a while to run through all the aisles trying to find what we were searching for. Checkout was slow but the cashier was polite despite being the only one ringing up the customers. What truly upset me about this location was to look up when we first pulled in and see Old Glory barely flying--torn, frayed and faded--at times getting caught in the tree's branches. It made me think of all our soldiers and veterans and their families. How they sacrifice(d) and honorably serve(d)! It always makes me so very sad that this is the only country that treats our flag so dishonorably at times; some even wearing it as a coverup or a fashion piece. Suffice to say that if a manager at this store reads this, please reach out to whomever might be in charge to take care of our flag in a dignified manner. I am here today looking for wax sticks AKA popsicle sticks or craft tools lol. This is a good place to find wax stick. I think it is better than your average beauty supply store. They have more choices here.They have every stick size for every type of waxing project you can think of. The really small size for eyebrows to the wide ones for leg waxing. I would have never thought about going here for that. The packages size vary small to larger. The prices are suprising really good. I think better then the beautiful supply store. You get your money's worth. The store is nicely stock. the workers are wearing a mask and face shield. The space you out nicely. While it's not my favorite location due to the cramped aisles, I'm happy with the fact that it's a reliable spot to shop for the items I need for my projects. Even if it's holiday decor, I can count on Michaels to supply all my needs. There's all sorts of paint, accessories, frames, yarn, and even artificial plants for your home decor. Everyone can find a common base here no matter the skill level of creativity you embody. With this pandemic, I've flourished my artistic side so plenty of visits here have inspired the interior of my house. I even made my Halloween costume from random items purchased here. I always grab a pack of glue for my glue gun every time I pass by since it never hurts to have some extra tubes. The parking can be tricky and the line can get annoying sometimes but that's probably due to the holiday season. I strongly dislike this Michael's. The door busters are a mess and there are barely any employees around. The hallways do not have signs so, you have to tour the whole store in order to find glue or paint because you do not know where it is located. Unfortunately, this is my neighborhood Michael's and I am forced to go every time I need baking supplies or something for my elementary-aged siblings's projects. I usually leave empty handed because I am unable to find certain items or simply because the line i WAY too long. I refuse to make a 30 minute line to pay for a bottle of glue I can get at the dollar store or even CVS. The problem is, I cannot find paints at those stores... Unless you are in desperate need or crafting supplies, do not come here. And if you do, make sure you download a coupon to make up for the expensive prices. read more

Long before knitting enjoyed its current renaissance, Michael's was where you had to go to get yarn. Red Heart 100% acrylic yarn in an endless palette of dingy 70's hues. These days the selection has improved with a wide range of colors, fibers and weights + more sparkly, spangly yarns than you can ever hope to turn into sparkly, spangly scarves. The needle selection has also improved with the addition of bamboo sticks in basic sizes, but don't go there expecting to find those size 4 32" circulars. This location is pretty much the same as any other Michael's store -- same general layout, same product, same uninterested and unknowledgeable staff. But for those days when you don't want to pay boutique prices, Michael's is a decent yarn destination. read more

I go in for one small tube of glitter and leave with a bag full of the best intentions :) This is a big craft store located in what we call the Promenade Shops at Aventura, just there at the intersection of Ives Dairy Road and Biscayne Blvd. The selection of stuff on sale here covers a myriad of hobbies from knitting, as Esther pointed out, to painting, scrap-booking, jewelry making and flower arranging to name a few. They also have a huge selection of home decor items, or rather, items you can use with your imagination to make your home more beautiful. They recently added about three aisles of jewelry making items and you can pick up some cute pieces to string on your own silver or gold chains or you can buy some of their string, chains or wire to make your own at a fraction of the price of costume jewelry being sold at the malls. They have great clearance sales after the different seasons and this is where I get my decorations for the following year at about 75% off, and in the past, that discount was worth the wait in line. It's August and already they are loading up on Halloween and Christmas Crafts. If I had been writing this review last year I would have given them three stars as the customer service then was horrendous with long lines and grumpy staff, but today the lines moved fast and the people who helped me find stuff I needed were very friendly. The cashier even gave me a 40% off ticket that the guy in front of me didn't want from his receipt. All in all, it's the only "catch all" craft store in the North Miami / Aventura area and so I'll keep coming back. read more

This location does the trick, you go- get what you need- usually stand in line longer than necessary- then leave. The staff are not usually overly nice and it seems they are always under staffed. When i'm checking out there is usually someone waiting for that staff member to go open a cabinet for them. I have only been to this location on weekends so the week days may be different. As far as inventory goes, they always have great sales and this store has always had what I was looking for but if you're in a rush I wouldn't recommend this one. read more

This Michael's is hands down the best in the 305! The store is organized, the employees are helpful, and it's not a big jumbled up mess. Maybe it's just me, but I really appreciate the fact the employees here actually know a thing or tow about a crafting, framing, sewing, gluing, painting, and floral arranging. Serious - they know their stuff! Since this store is nestled into Aventura right in the middle of everything, I highly suggest going later in the evening after 8, (they are open til 9:30!), so you don't explode (or implode) in traffic and all your crafty ideas fly out of your brain before you walk in the store. read more

This is the closest store to my house. Unfortunately. And i do lots of crafts and have a son that also has lots of projects for school. A store like this is usually paradise to me. Since i am into crafts but..... not enough workers to help us find things. I have to run after one if i see their red shirt going by the aisles. The lines are huge. And not friendly. They always seem to make a confusion about the coupons and discounts that they offer a lot. Almost seems like they want to make it hard to use them. I just came from a interview. The manager is this fat ol' lady, but she's cool. At least that was her first impression to me. Anyways, she explained the job description of the cashiers. It sounded pretty good. Until she told me that they pay at $7.15/hour! I looked at her like are you serious!!?? The minimum wage to my knowledge should be around $7.25.. That was last year, in Jan. 2009. Maybe it's higher. But I am not gonna accept a job that pays that little! Jeez! Just shoot me in the foot! The restocking system here is awful. Earlier this year, my daughter was working on an art project where she was using 6x6 canvas boards. After we purchased the last set, I checked the shelves weekly for an entire month, and those boards were never restocked. Uuuugh! Around 3 weeks ago she was working on a set of block prints, which required 5x7 linoleum blocks. We purchased 2, and there was 1 left. Today we purchased the last one. So now I have to go somewhere else, because I can't afford to keep checking back. On a good note, they have an awesome young gentleman (who I believe is autistic) working the register. He has gotten so much better over the months. He seems a lot more relaxed now at the register and with the customers. The customer service by a woman named Andrea was the worst I have ever experienced... Anywhere... Ever. When I needed help finding something, I politely said "excuse me" while she was turned around talking gossip to another employee. She didn't even turn to look at me. I went to Micheals to pick up some painting canvases and the staff on the floor was extremely helpful. They were patient and answered all my questions. One of the employees even went out of her way to get a price check for me when I asked how much something cost and she did not know the answer. The store was nicely maintained and they had a huge selection of merchandise. I was not impressed with the staff members at the check out counter. They were rude and obnoxious when checking out. The woman at the counter seemed annoyed to even have to deal with customers, and barely put any effort into speaking. After I paid, I realized the canvas was to big to fit inside my car. I asked if they could help me find some rope because the canvas was going to have to be tied to the roof of my car and they promptly told me they would not help because it was against their store policy. Then one girl directed me to rope that was obviously to thick and expensive to purchase to tie something down with, it was more like decoration. So I had to find something on my own. Oh my gawd. This place is a hell hole. I have never see a michaels this poorly managed. I wish I had taken pictures. The bathroom was FILTHY!!! There were several clearance sections with random things thrown on the self and spilling ALL OVER THE FLOOR. I understand that customers cause messes but really. I was there the night before and the store WAS NOT CLEANED. I came back 24 hours later to find the same messes. Seriously? They never keep the store fully stocked. Just empty places where things should be hanging. Went to Joanne's to get candle wicks since michaels didn't have it several days in a row. Also you should have more than one cashier open if there's a line winding into the aisles. Let me begin by saying I am not an expert when it comes to crafts, so I am not familiar with prices and quotes. That being said, I walked into Michaels looking for a base to mount a piece I am doing. I went to the framing department and asked if they could assist me, after 5 minutes of discussing we decided plexiglass was my best option. I asked for a quote from the sales associate (who I later found out was the manager of the store) but she had no knowledge of pricing so I was directed to wait for another associate. Once the other associate appears he Informs me it will be $20 for a small piece, around 10x13 inches - again remembering I have no idea what these things cost, I agreed. The piece was cut and the guy comes to the computer discussing with the lady and saying, "you can just put any number there." As I heard this I thought they were perhaps talking about some sku, since the plexiglass did not have one. I ended up swiping my card feeling slightly suspicious. Finally, when my receipt was printed the guy ends up handing me the first half just being the receipt and taking the second. I tell him that id like the entire receipt and he hands it to me saying "oh you can have this too if you want, it's a 40% discount." WTF. I end up walking throughout other isles and pulling up prices on multiple sites through google that sell acrylic and plexi glass... $1.49 for a sheet 8x10 - seriously!? At this point I'm walking to the managers office, who after 5 minutes of waiting does not appear and I am told by another associate she passed right by me despite being told she had a customer waiting (that customer being me.) Turns out it was the same lady who had helped me at the framing department before. Having worked in retail before, if the store is completely out of wack, it's more than safe to say it's time to call the head office. I call and explain my concern and was told that it was special kind of glass, apparently one with UV features... No thanks. I was placed on hold and after 8 minutes i came to the conclusion that the home office was just as helpful as the store associates. Absolutely NO regard for customer service. Stay away and order online, unless you have no time to wait for shipping. I walked out of there with my $20 " special UV" glass, never to return again. read more

The only reason I frequent this store is because it's "clearance" section always has the popular stationery/planner/scrapbook items that are sold out in other stores. However, it's always in disarray so be prepared to dig around to "hunt" for the items you want (if you don't know what you're looking for don't even bother visiting this store). The staff are friendly but there aren't that many around to help you out. Also, I've always seen at most only 2 cash registers open -- even on busy days. But I do enjoy the fact that the cashiers have always reminded me of store coupons before checkout which is extremely nice on their part. read more

The lines are long but people should be ready with their coupons while waiting in line , I'm always ready but some cashiers will help you out. I'm crafty, which has me traveling to Michael's for overpriced supplies from time to time. I've always found this place to be tolerable--despite the always longer than long checkout lines--but yesterday's experience made me frustrated. I have a crafting project that requires ribbon. Since my nearest Michael's is super far away, I called first to make sure they had what I needed. Turns out, they did! Or, that's what the lady on the phone told me. I was thrilled and asked her to hold the supplies for me, as I would be coming later in the day to go and get them and they were low on stock. When my kiddo woke up from her nap, we hopped in the car, braved Aventura traffic and made it to the store. When I got to customer service, my ribbon was nowhere to be found. I finally found someone who said it was there earlier, but must have been put back. When I asked why they would put back something I asked them to hold, I was told they usually get put back at the end of the business day. I pointed out the store was still open for another THREE hours, but that didn't seem to make any difference. We finally found my items on hold in the shopping cart of the restocker. And when the employee handed it to me, I was even more frustrated to find out it wasnt even what I called and asked for in the first place. Unbelievable. What a waste of time, energy, gas and more. If you need something from Michael's, dont call in advance and expect anyone to help you, because apparently, they dont know how. read more

The Framing Department has the WORST costumer service I have ever seen at any store. Ever. I went in today April 1st to get my degrees professionally framed. If someone had even acknowledged me I would have told them I why I was there, but instead I stood quietly right in front of the cash register trying to make eye contact with one of the sales people who were helping two other costumers. After TEN MINUTES of being completely ignored I said "excuse me, I have a questions about these frames" to which I was answered "we will get to you as soon as we can, we only have two computers." I wanted to snap back, but I really wanted my frames done. I waited quietly for ANOTHER THIRTY MINUTES. There were even 3 people there, but only 2 apparently could use computers.. not one person took a second away from the other costumers who were quietly comparing frames, sitting at the counter and obviously make an entire day affair about picking out frames for their ugly painting. Finally, a man waiting in line behind me was able to answer my ONE QUESTION by telling me how he framed his degrees and I went to the front register to check out. The framing department is employed with pathetic, old, slow people who are not only rude, but seem lack the common sense of how to interact with more than one customer at a time. Thank you to the guy in line who helped me after waiting almost an HOUR to ask a question in which time i figured out how to frame them myself. If they had just helped me in a timely manor I was prepared to pay hundreds for a professional framing job. Idiots. read more

Very disappointed in this Michaels store. I have recently moved to the area and visited this store to get some items to decorate my daughters room. The overall appearance of the store from the moment I walked in was a mess. The store looked slightly dirty and very disorganized. There were so many items laying around in random aisles that clearly did not belong. When I went to check out there was only 1 cashier and she told me it was going to be a while because she didn't know how to do returns well (the customer she was currently with was making a return). She seemed amused and if I was by myself I would have walked out at this point but my daughter had found an activity kit she wanted and I was not going to make her put it back because of the employees lack of knowledge of her job. The absolute worst customer service. The people who answer the phone - when then do not immediately hang up before saying anything - do not speak clearly. It is impossible to understand what they are saying. I've tried to call to speak to the framing department where I am waiting for a delivery. I was put on several indefinite holds. 6 calls and more than 1 hour of waiting for someone to answer in the framing department - and I still have not been able to speak to anyone. I have been disconnected 3 times and I have hung up and called back 6 times. I am very sorry that I took my art to this store. read more
