So I admit I haven't been to their true storefront, I've just had their cheeses…read more I first encountered their cheese at Shea Cheese in Phoenix Arizona, back when I was living in that area. I was immediately wowed, but decided not to buy any at that time because I was moving to Indiana soon! I thought I'd be able to find some in Bloomington, but alas it's not easy... But as fortune had it, I ended up at a farmers' market up in Indy one day, at which they had a stand. And it lived up to expectations. The Queen Anne's Lace (which they had samples of on offer) was up to the standards of the best French bries, and much better than any of the big-name bries. Tiger Lily is a nice washed rind with the expected pungency. My complaint would be that I wish they used some non-cow milks too. I also found the rinds to be less edible than with some European cheese, but that's fine, just cut them off.

I visited for the February Open House. The group that was there got a cheese plate to sample. The…read morecheese plate consisted of Snapdragon, Nettle, Fromage Frais, Trillium, and one other cheese which I think was Dutch Tulip. They were all fantastic. There was a short presentation and then a tour given by Co-Owner Laura Davenport. It was interesting to hear about how the different cheeses are processed and how Tulip Tree Creamery came to be. After the tour I made a purchase of two cheeses: Nightshade and Fromage Frais. If you enjoy cheese then you need to check them out. Their website is https://www.tuliptreecreamery.com/ On there you can find out about all the cheeses and where to purchase them. They also have classes you can take to make your own cheese. I recently attended a Plant Based cooking class at A Cut Above and it was SO MUCH FUN. Chef Amy is…read morefabulous and her class is the perfect mix of education and fun. I feel like I learned tips and techniques that I could take home and use day to day but also ended up making a very unique and impresssive meal. This class was Thai inspired so we made a salad, coconut curry soup, and moo shu wrapped in a pancake of sorts. Their cooking classes offer a cash bar and walk in appetizer. Then we get to the cooking, all of the ingredients were portioned and passed out. We had the opportunity to taste along the way. After cooking everything, we got to sit down and enjoy our meal. This was such a fun experience. Highly recommend as a date night activity!

It's an out of the box idea that will give you major cool points. We did a Chopped Themed event. If you have ever watched Chopped, the TV show, you know that they provide you with a basket of items and you and your team is to figure out what to make with those items. You have to make sure that you include every item that's in the basket. It was so much fun to see what the various groups came up with. There were four groups and three judges. Once their meal was prepared, they brought the dishes to the judges so that we were able to rate them. I was one of the judges which was very fun! We had an appetizer and then a main dish. At the end the REAL chefs prepare a meal using the same ingredients! The staff was extremely nice and entertaining too. Made us feel comfortable and welcome. There was an open bar of wine and beer (and soda) so add that with some music I tell you it was just a blast. Thank you team for hosting! It was amazing!
