    Chili crisp tasting
    Emmie H.

Ok, so this place is amazing! The owner sources all of the ingredients themselves and is so exceptionally knowledgeable about where the products are from and who makes them. I had parked nearby and planned to walk to Pike Place Market and had to stop in on the way. I bought a bunch of stuff and then the owner lead us through a tasting of the highlights of their store: sweet, savory, salty, and bitter, and boy was it difficult to pick what other products I wanted. There was no pressure to buy, just someone willing and passionate to share about their food. I will absolutely be back here and I can't recommend stopping by here more highly!

    So many amazing sauces

Like Disneyland of high end Asian ingredients/sauces. Don't miss the chance to do a either or both, a soy sauce tasting or the chili crisp tasting. The proprietor is more than a connoisseur of the category he is a former food scientist that worked with sensory perception. So when you are tasting something, like 6 varieties of soy sauce from different countries that have distinctive flavor profiles, you are doing more than just slurping some brown salty stuff. He walks you through the origin, history, usage, etc. Bring a backpack because you are going to leave with lots of bottles of really cool stuff. From ponzu sauce that is made with citrus not found in the US, to cherry wood smoked soy sauce that you only a drop of to turn anything into a rare, mind-blowing experience. Located just north of Pike Place Market on 1st Ave, its worth it to take a stroll out of the Market and explore what Belltown has to offer. This being one of them (my other fav finds in the neighborhood are Junior's and Macrina Bakery). Happy hunting!!

This spot echoes the former Hyphen, however, there are more products to check out with a updated layout. After seeing the KING5 feature on Mixed Pantry, I made sure to stop by on 2/18/24. I enjoyed going through each aisle and shelf. I ended up buying more sisig mix, two bags of Sugimoto tea powder (hojicha and genmaicha), and a jar of Dan Dan Sauce. Takeshi "Tak" Kunimune, owner of Mixed Pantry, sure has upbeat presence and effervescence. One feels welcomed while wandering through the shop. His enthusiasm and knowledge base demonstrates that the featured products have been carefully selected, vetted and of excellent quality. Great find in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood!

    Soy Sauce Tasting

An amazing shop in Belltown for sauces, condiments, ingredients, candy, snacks, and more! The modern atmosphere and friendly service makes this place even more amazing. There are a variety of chili crisps, jams, and soy sauces you can try as well. Opted in for the soy sauce and chili crisp tastings which are perfect for those who are wanting to broaden their choices and explore different flavors. The owner Tak is very knowledgeable on the products and can make suggestions to find the right sauce for you. After going through the tastings, I was able to select several items to take home to kick my dishes up a notch. So grab a few staples or try a tasting or two. Don't miss out on this unique selection of items imported from Asia or created by AAPI communities across various states. This is definitely a store you want to stop by and check out.

Love that Hyphen lives in in two businesses. Was finally able to check out Mixed Pantry this weekend. Have been wanting to visit since they opened. Tak makes you feel right at home and is so knowledgeable about the ingredients he sells. So nice to have a place to get imported speciality items and other goods from Asian American companies across the US. Love look of the space, open and lots of natural lighting. It's always wasy to find items they're never overly crowded sheIves. I always walk out with a purchase this time it was with curry popcorn and a sweet yuzu vinegar. Looking forward to my next visit have been introduced to so many products here.

Such a cute Asian store in Belltown! I passed by this place since they were participating in the monthly art walk and had to stop in! This place has condiments, cook books, art, and more! I came back again and was able to sample a few of the condiments. It's a minimalist style and lots to look at. The customer service is top tier and a super close to Pike Place, maybe a 10 min walk at most. Definitely stop by and shop local!

I was gifted Kong's Chicken and Rice Sauce, and Cabi Umami Dashi Soy Sauce, both from Mixed Pantry. Loved them so out of curiosity I looked up the store and made a visit! It is a small, relaxing store with a good selection of curated products. I bought several soy sauces, for me and a couple to keep for host/ess gifts. Mixed Pantry has both soy sauce and chili crisp tastings, each which take about a 1/2 hour, and have a fee. I didn't have time but would like to come back with some friends to do these.

This is such a cute place to go visit and also just experience a wide variety of spreads and chili oils! The owner is so nice and offered us samples of everything that we were interested with. It was so nice to just chat with him and just get to know him as part of the community. Highly recommend if you're looking to stock up on chili oil or anything else in between. Of note he has Kaya spread, red bean paste spread, yuzu juice, fly by jing options, and most notably the dan dan sauce. It's a must pick up. Highly recommend even just to look around and kill time

Mixed Pantry is a fabulous indie shop full of curated pan-Asian ingredients that owner Tak Kunimune personally chooses. The atmosphere is friendly and helpful - you know you're getting great products. Be sure to do the soy sauce or chili crisp tasting. It's the only place in Seattle where you can get that kind of experience!

The pork adobo was tender and flavorful, the longanisa was perfectly seasoned, and the salmon sinigang had a rich, comforting broth. The lumpia was crispy and fresh. We also appreciated the complimentary soup and rice. The longanisa came with pancit, which complemented the dish perfectly and made the meal even more satisfying. The food tasted authentic and homemade, and the portions were generous. The friendly service and great Filipino food make this a must-visit spot in Pike Place Market. We will definitely be back! To be honest, I don't know why this place is so hyped. If you come expecting life changing Filipino food, then you'll probably be disappointed. But if you just want some solid home style cooking, then this is for you. This place is famous for their salmon sinigang but they always run out super fast (like before 12 on weekends), so if you want some, you better come early. They usually have the sinigang broth with small pieces of salmon that you can get with your food though. I think the best things here are the longanisa and the bangus head. The longanisa is homemade and packed with flavor. I loved how fatty and rich it was and the strong flavors paired with rice and vinegar are so good. The bangus head is also really good. The skin is super crispy and the meat is tender and fresh. I must emphasize that you have to get the head. The body is too lean and the meat was pretty dry. The adobo has good flavor but I also felt that the meat was dry.

It was a busy Thanksgiving weekend. They are located across the Farmers Market. Got two each of the beef and chicken empanadas. They are both tasty and delicious with lots of flavors but they are unreasonably priced at $8 a piece which wasn't stated anywhere on their menu board and only got the shock when I paid for them but the beef is made with lean ground organic beef and the chicken with organic shredded chicken breasts. Maybe that's why? I dunno, organic tends to be more expensive. Each beef or chicken empanada was garnished with onions, garlic, olives, pimientos, raisins, eggs, red & green bell peppers, some yummy spices and sauteed in olive oil and butter... that's a lot of stuff crammed in those empanadas.
