The bad mix still here after a week of me posting
    Chardae B.

Pros of this place are that it's in close proximity of my house, the fried chicken is great and it has a good selection of food. Now the Cons I've been here multiple times but I know I have to check the expiration date of most of these items. Plus some of these prices are a lot higher on some items I've seen in other stores. I went to the store just recently and told the manager most of his pancake mix is expired from September and August. He acted like he was going to look but literally went there later and it was still on the shelf. Just be careful and check the dates.

Wow, a real grocery store! It has all the items you would expect at a typical grocery store, plus many different types of ethnic foods! The produce and meat are fresh, and it is super clean! When we went in, there were three employees coaching all the glass doors! The prices are good too! Night recommended!

    Whole goats???? Whaaaaa? Wow!

Okay, we need to talk here. THIS. PLACE. IS. INCREDIBLE!!!! I've been to at least one other Saar's store (in Oak Harbor, possibly others) and it was a good experience... But this place.... This place takes the proverbial cake in amazingness! Wow! I just came in for some mundane items, and I was immediately impressed with the prices. Then, as I explored the store further, I was amazed by the sheer volume of cultural products they carry from all over the world! Asian, European, Middle Eastern, etc. Just about anything you're looking for, I think they might just have it. I don't think I'm exaggerating (much)... So I got the stuff I came for, and then I found the cold drinks aisle. It was like 50 feet long! It had everything, even some really old brands of sodas in bottles: Dad's brand, and literally hundreds of fruit drinks from all over the world! Listen, you can continue going to the boring standard grocery stores if you want to, but if you want a shopping EXPIERIENCE, you have got to come here. Excellent prices, cool store, friendly staff and probably almost every food item known to man. Things specifically I was impressed with: 1. Mexican spices AISLE. yes, a full aisle of Mexican spices (and separately they even had Mexican pastries! Don't believe me? I am attaching a picture of it!) 2. Japanese & Asian aisles: even included standard cookware, dishes, utensils, etc.! 3. Middle Eastern aisle(s): All the spices, all the sweets, all the stuff (they even sold whole goats in the freezer aisle!) I've never seen that! 4. European/German items: Coffee, sweets, spreads, breads, etc. Seriously, YOU (yes, you!) need to come check this place out. I bet you will come back again and again and again. This place is crazy cool!

At first glance, you see a nichè European grocery store. But it's not until you enter that you see it's much more. It is a small grocery store, minus the produce. It also has a very Eastern European vibe. At first, you think 'Russian', but in reality, it's Ukrainian. There is a shared regional heritage, but it stops there when you walk a big room, which is actually their dining room serving some yummy regional favorites. Sitting down and looking at the menu, your eyes take in all the choices. Chicken Kyiv, Beef Goulash, and house made mushroom soup. There was also fresh house baked bread to round out the experience. What was most appreciated was that the meal and the service were definitely homemade, and with treated with love! Do you wish a beverage with your meal? Walk back to the store and order a canned soda, or choose from one of variety of wines off the shelf - European vintages, of course. Come a little bit early, as the restaurant closes near 7 pm, but the store is ready to serve you until closing. [As of this writing, July 1, 2024, the war in Ukraine is still waging. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with free samples (hummus, baba ganoush, Turkish delight... yes please) and the kindest hospitality. The owner actually came over and chatted with us, shared where he's from, and even offered us Turkish coffee and Moroccan mint tea, which instantly reminded me of my trip to Morocco. We ordered the lamb gyro, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best I've had in Seattle. Super flavorful, generously portioned, and just hits the spot. Also ended up buying couscous, harissa, fig jam, and olives from the store section, everything felt really authentic. Special shoutout to Hiba for being so warm and welcoming! Honestly, this place feels less like a store and more like a community spot. If you're in Seattle, don't skip this, come for the food, stay for the people.

There's no other terms on them that specify what qualifies for the coupons. I've had no previous issues redeeming the $2 off any entree coupon on items off their menu. However, one day the worker at that moment decided he wanted to be slimy over a tiny $3 difference and said the gyro platter ISN'T an entree. He was pushing to upsell me to use the $5 off $20 coupon and kept saying the $2 off is only for items in the deli case. I probably should have walked away, but I was hungry and already there, so I agreed to get upsold and added baklava ($5+, but $6+ after taxes) to my order to reach $20+. I should have just ordered only the gyro platter because I wasn't saving any money at all at that point. The baklava wasn't that great because it wasn't even fresh. I've also had hard pieces of rice in my meal before. I don't think that's the standard? Basically this place is a hit or miss depending on who's working that day.

The selection of pastries and breads is vast, and they have many classic Mexican pastry options, such as (what I think is called) a concha. They come in multiple colors, but the yellow stood out to me. It's chewy with a slight crunch and perfect level of sweetness and a light fluffy texture. I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal. If you are looking for a quick snack that's authentically Mexican for an exceptional price, make sure to visit Plaza Latina!

I am from the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle (home neighborhood in my American hometown - Northgate, Seattle) and I continue to use this location if I am in the area, though I live in Shoreline now. Sections of the store are well labeled and the workers have been professional in our interactions over the years. My favorite cake is yellow cake, has been for over 20 years, and this QFC location remains my go-to when I am looking for a slice or two of yellow cake. The in-store bakery makes a great cake and perfect frosting, especially the yellow cake and caramel frosting option. Even as of my most recent visit on Sunday 29 October 2023, I was happy to find fresh made yellow cake options. The parking lot can get a little cramped, has a 90 minute limit, and is restricted to QFC customers. There are two entrances/exits, which can be a little difficult to maneuver. But right now, (March 2026), with the huge apartment construction project going on at the south end of the lot, parking, and getting in and out of the store, is becoming all but impossible during weekdays. Also, the construction crew is full of nasty guys who block the parking lot entrances and exits with equipment and work vehicles, and then yell at QFC customers to, basically, get of the way. All in all, very unpleasant shopping experience. Go somewhere else for now.
