The bad mix still here after a week of me posting
    Chardae B.

Pros of this place are that it's in close proximity of my house, the fried chicken is great and it has a good selection of food. Now the Cons I've been here multiple times but I know I have to check the expiration date of most of these items. Plus some of these prices are a lot higher on some items I've seen in other stores. I went to the store just recently and told the manager most of his pancake mix is expired from September and August. He acted like he was going to look but literally went there later and it was still on the shelf. Just be careful and check the dates.

Wow, a real grocery store! It has all the items you would expect at a typical grocery store, plus many different types of ethnic foods! The produce and meat are fresh, and it is super clean! When we went in, there were three employees coaching all the glass doors! The prices are good too! Night recommended!

    Whole goats???? Whaaaaa? Wow!

Okay, we need to talk here. THIS. PLACE. IS. INCREDIBLE!!!! I've been to at least one other Saar's store (in Oak Harbor, possibly others) and it was a good experience... But this place.... This place takes the proverbial cake in amazingness! Wow! I just came in for some mundane items, and I was immediately impressed with the prices. Then, as I explored the store further, I was amazed by the sheer volume of cultural products they carry from all over the world! Asian, European, Middle Eastern, etc. Just about anything you're looking for, I think they might just have it. I don't think I'm exaggerating (much)... So I got the stuff I came for, and then I found the cold drinks aisle. It was like 50 feet long! It had everything, even some really old brands of sodas in bottles: Dad's brand, and literally hundreds of fruit drinks from all over the world! Listen, you can continue going to the boring standard grocery stores if you want to, but if you want a shopping EXPIERIENCE, you have got to come here. Excellent prices, cool store, friendly staff and probably almost every food item known to man. Things specifically I was impressed with: 1. Mexican spices AISLE. yes, a full aisle of Mexican spices (and separately they even had Mexican pastries! Don't believe me? I am attaching a picture of it!) 2. Japanese & Asian aisles: even included standard cookware, dishes, utensils, etc.! 3. Middle Eastern aisle(s): All the spices, all the sweets, all the stuff (they even sold whole goats in the freezer aisle!) I've never seen that! 4. European/German items: Coffee, sweets, spreads, breads, etc. Seriously, YOU (yes, you!) need to come check this place out. I bet you will come back again and again and again. This place is crazy cool!

I'm honestly disappointed to write this review…read more I've been shopping at Goodies for about six months now. They sell dukkah (along with other condiments and seasonings) that are hard for me to find, which saves me the time of making them myself. I've also been buying my lamb from them. On July 3, I purchased two packs of lamb chops. One pack was perfectly fine, but the other was clearly spoiled. I still cooked the good pack, but it wasn't enough for everyone to have. I've been cooking lamb for years--I know how it should smell and how it should look. This meat was off. I called the next day to let them know, and they told me they would replace it. I explained that I live over an hour away, so I wouldn't be able to come back until I was in the area again. They assured me they would still honor the exchange. When I came in today, I was met with so much rudeness that I was honestly shocked. I felt embarrassed by the way I was treated. I had really enjoyed supporting this small business up until this point. Because I was so shaken by the interaction, I didn't even realize until I got home that I had originally purchased a six-pack of lamb chops, but I was only given a four-pack in exchange. When I returned the spoiled meat, the woman behind the counter insisted she would "never sell meat like that." I tried to show her the timestamped photo I had taken of the meat when I purchased it, but she refused to even look at it. At one point she said she "didn't know what my deal was," and then suggested it was somehow my refrigerator's fault before asking, rather dismissively, "Well, what do you want?" I'm a very understanding person. When you're selling raw meat, sometimes things happen. Products can spoil. I wasn't looking for an argument--I simply expected for the issue to be handled professionally and with kindness. Instead, I was treated as though I was trying to cause a problem. I'm sure many people will continue to shop here without issue. However, left feeling like I wasn't afforded the same courtesy or respect that other customers might have received. Maybe I would have been treated differently had I looked different. I can't say that for certain, but I also can't think of another reason I was met with such hostility when I approached the situation politely and respectfully from the very beginning. No customer should leave feeling the way I did. The top pack of lamb pictured was perfect. The bottom pack smelled bad and was greenish in person. As you can see via time stamp - I purchased the lamb on the 3rd and began to cook it on the 4th of July.

Today, I noticed there were new faces at the counter, and I'm not sure if there was a staff turnover. I truly hope this won't affect the service and, most importantly, the quality of the food because that's one of the reasons I keep coming back. My scheduled pickup time today was 11:10 AM. I arrived at 11:00 AM and even brought back the same bag they provided with my previous order. There were already 3 people waiting. Unfortunately, by 11:15 AM, my order was still not ready -- this is now the second time this has happened. I understand that things can get busy, but pickup times matter, especially for customers who pre-order because they have somewhere to be. I had a work meeting to attend, which is why I placed my order ahead of time. My order was finally ready at 11:30 AM -- 20 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. This delay was the main reason for my 1-star review. I also noticed that the sauce portions have gotten smaller compared to before. I hope the team can take this feedback seriously because I really enjoy the food here and would like to continue supporting this place. I just hope the consistency in service, portions, and overall experience improves.

The selection of pastries and breads is vast, and they have many classic Mexican pastry options, such as (what I think is called) a concha. They come in multiple colors, but the yellow stood out to me. It's chewy with a slight crunch and perfect level of sweetness and a light fluffy texture. I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal. I am from the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle (home neighborhood in my American hometown - Northgate, Seattle) and I continue to use this location if I am in the area, though I live in Shoreline now. Sections of the store are well labeled and the workers have been professional in our interactions over the years. My favorite cake is yellow cake, has been for over 20 years, and this QFC location remains my go-to when I am looking for a slice or two of yellow cake. The in-store bakery makes a great cake and perfect frosting, especially the yellow cake and caramel frosting option. Even as of my most recent visit on Sunday 29 October 2023, I was happy to find fresh made yellow cake options. The parking lot can get a little cramped, has a 90 minute limit, and is restricted to QFC customers. There are two entrances/exits, which can be a little difficult to maneuver. However, it was one of my favorite lots when I was first learning/adjusting to driving because it helped teach me patience and to breath in tight fit situations.

This David obviously hates his job, hates his customers and based on my many unpleasant encounters with this poor pathetic individual, hates his life. He literally grabbed my debit card out of my hand today when I simply asked him where to tap it. The left side card "tap space" was taped off and I wasn't sure if I should tap it on the screen, slide it "old school" on the right side, or insert it into the card reader. Grabbing my card out of my hand and tapping it on the screen, all the while making me feel incompetent (which I am not) must have seemed to him to be the most effective solution to my dilemma. What a jerk! After my transaction was complete, he shoved the receipt at me and subsequently pushed my cart away from him like it contained something foul, and figuratively did the same to me. I was upset. I still can't figure out what I did to him that warranted such unprofessional and absolutely unprovoked behavior on his part. I believe he needs to seek out another avenue of employment.
