I had been waiting months for Mitchell's Mex to open, and after my first visit today I can say that it definitely exceeded my expectations. The building is unique, both inside and out. The menu is unique, and it is only the soft opening menu. The extremely friendly explained that the real menu will be twice as big. I ordered a Grilled Frito Burrito with queso and dang sauce, and a side of queso and chips. The burrito was huge, and stuffed with tasty ingredients. Queso was smooth and just a little spicy, and the texture was just right- not too thin or too thick. Every item on the menu can be prepared vegetarian or vegan. The interior was very attractive, with bright colors and interesting decor. There were several tvs with sports on some and cartoons on the other. Large floor-to-ceiling windows provided natural light. The employees were all extremely friendly and helpful. How refreshing to find employees who truly care about their customers and ensure that they provide a good experience. The restaurant was very busy at 3 pm, so I am guessing it is packed at lunch and dinner time. There will be a drive thru but it doesn't appear to be open yet. Planning to return soon. It will take some time to work my way through even the temporary "soft open " menu. read more

I've driven by here several times, but today I finally went inside. Everything looked clean & squared away, inside & out. There is a good selection on the menu & the prices aren't bad. The staff was friendly & knowledgable as well. I got the wet burrito with shrimp. It was outstanding! One of the best I've had in a long time! It was filled with ingredients & the hot stuff was hot & cold stuff was cold! That actually surprised me because most places it seems that everything is just warm. I've never posted a third update but this most recent visit demands this one star upgrade. Finally I have found a menu item to get excited about. The Queso Frito Crunch Salad. Shredded lettuce topped with diced tomatoes, corn, black beans, queso, and Chili Fritos. I choose the house made avocado ranch dressing that is creamy and flavorful. I ordered mine with chicken and it was somewhat lost in the salad. There should have been more for the price. Besides that misstep the salad is delicious and left me wanting more. read more

Initial reaction - do not love the menu/the design/the options/the fonts. It's messy and and we'll organized. We ordered kids meals, nachos, one burrito, guac and drinks. And it was pretty expensive. The burrito was small but had good flavors. The guac was good but also very small. Kids meals are a good deal and kids enjoyed it. The wraps looked pretty good. I'm interested in trying that next time. I would have recommended them to include chips and salsa with all their meals. read more

This restaurant will advertise to you by grabbing your email from the name on your credit card. You don't even have to give them your name or email, they will find it through their SquareSpace vendor and harass you with emails and advertisements. Plus, the food is over-priced, over salted, and takes too long to come out. I wish they'd put up a Moe's or even a Chipotle instead. At least then the food would be better quality and even cheaper, surprisingly. read more

A $7 burrito not much bigger than a soft taco is absurd. Parking is difficult with a weird parking layout and congested entrance. Flavors decent but quantity for price is out of line. Tried one of their wet burritos to go in the past and was like paste by the time I ate it which was just 5 minutes after it was picked up. This is fast food at better dining prices. read more

The Grilled Frito burrito is HUGE. I ordered a medium salsa and chips. Went through the drive thru, it's open now and set up kind of like chick fil a drive thru. Checked my order and they charged me for a queso instead of salsa. And gave me queso. I let them know at the window that I ordered salsa, not queso. And they gave me a refund for the queso. The manager Josh gave me free ice cream for the inconvenience and they gave me the salsa I ordered. Food was great. Couldn't finish it all. But my favorite thing was the customer service. Absolutely not. My first visit and they mess up my order. I was given chicken instead of cheese for my quesadilla, and chicken instead of beef for my burrito. Went back to get the order fixed. Upon receiving my order for the 2nd time, they did not give me the sour cream that's supposed to come with my quesadilla. The chips I got were stale as well. The beef had way too much seasoning in my opinion. Saying they can replace anything to make it gluten free is a bit of a stretch. I ordered a gluten free burrito which turned into 3 corn tortilla tacos. My gluten free quesadilla was 3 tiny corn tortilla quesadillas (which that was ok.) The only thing that tasted good was the queso, but my stomach hurt very quickly after eating. The only reason I'm giving a second star is because the manager was kind and understanding with my husband when he did the food swap. If I try this place again, I hope they do much better. read more

This was the first time I have ever came here. My friend and I decided to get lunch together and try this place, since it's directly across from campus. We were greeted with a smile from Josh, who we found out later is the front end manager. We asked his suggestions and he gave several! We actually decided to go with the ones he suggested and it was SO YUMMY (ground beef incredibowl). As we were periodically eating and doing an assignment, Josh came by to refill our drinks and throw our trash away- I thought that was so sweet. He really was a great example of customer service. So we didn't know what to expect. Would it be like Moe's, Chipotle, or Qdoba? Nope, it's unique. I would say it has 3 differences: 1) they don't make the food in front of you 2) it's like a fast food full service restaurant as they give you a buzzer and bring the food to you. 3) it's high quality, lots of options, I would guess there are a million possible options! That means that you can choose meat, sauce, type of cheese, etc. and the menu has a lot of choices! The ambience and seating is upscale fast food, maybe like Wendy's or Arby's? I worked in Delphi for years and enjoyed the original Mitchell's hut downtown. After leaving that job I sadly missed out on my almost daily Mitchell's run. My wife and I were in town and I remembered a new location opened so I zipped over and grabbed my favorite (and now wife's favorite) CBR wrap! first, this does Not taste the same as the Delphi location. I was so excited for them to becoming to Lafayette permanently but was kinda disappointed. Got the spicy mitchi like normal but wasn't hot, no sauce, and no tostada. Same with the second one we ordered. Then, we orders chips and queso. Didn't get that in the order. Sad day. Hopefully this is the new open blues. Probably will stick to the Delphi location only. :( read more

First time trying the new Mitchell's. Large menu, lots to choose from. Prices seemed a bit steep. I ordered a taco salad. All ingredients were present as advertised, however it was 91% lettuce, the other 9% made up the cheese, tomatoes, chips, and ground beef. The tomatoes were a tiny pile in the middle of the salad and the ground beef had to be dug for to find it's existence. It comes with either sour cream, dressing, OR salsa. I ordered the dressing but asked for salsa as well (it is a "taco" "salad" ). I was disappointed to learn that the mini 2 oz cup of salsa that was just over half full was an additional .75. Won't make that mistake again. Staff was nice. Food taste was average but would I ever get the taco salad again? ..never, not even for 1/2 the price. Will I ever eat here again? At this point, will wait for some better reviews. read more

First time going to this place and the service is outstanding. Drove in to pick up a lemonade and they were just going to open, the gentleman who took my order was all smiles and very pleasant. The food tasted like expensive taco bell, but not as good as Taco Bell. The flavors are not balanced and all mush together. The items purchased were the sriracha mitchi (chicken) which was advertised as a "favorite" and "best seller". It tasted like it was all sauce and rice. The shrimp tacos had mushy shrimp and only 3 pieces per taco. The speaker didn't work, so after staff tried to ring us up outside, they couldn't get a connection and we had to be re-rung up at the window. I ordered the nachos plate, and according to the drive through order taker it's the big one. It was tiny and was 90 percent beans. To top it off, the order taker guilted me into a tip for her 30 seconds of helping me. And I had to tell her three times not to put rice on it. The food is horrible, the service is horrible and I paid 12.50 (no drink) for something that I could have gotten at taco bell for half the price. I will never visit this place again. read more
