I went here for a pre-purchase inspection on a car I was considering. (Consumer Reports recommends…read moregetting any used car inspected before buying). I was at a dealership in Southfield and when I called Gary's and asked if they could do the inspection in the next 5-10 minutes, they happily obliged. I am SO glad I found this place. From my initial call to the end of the inspection, Gary and Troy were friendly, thorough, honest and knowledgeable. They asked how the car felt when I drove it to their shop, then Troy walked around the car with me, explaining any dings/scratches and which ones I should be concerned about. He also walked me under the car while it was hoisted to show the rust damage that ultimately helped me decide to pass on the car. At the end of the inspection while I was paying (it was about $80), Gary even gave me negotiating tips for when I went back to the dealership. I would HIGHLY recommend this place!

I was told Walsh's was the place to get things done and done right. But this is not true at all!…read moreI took my car in to get the breaks and rotors done, they did the front at around $800 and then verbally confirmed the other two in the back were fine and did not need replacing yet. (Now that I see they also wrote on my paperwork that all 4 were inspected and only the front needed replacing.) 3 DAYS LATER THE OTHER TWO IN THE BACK NOW NEEDED REPLACING! I took my car elsewhere and was told that the back in usually the expensive part to replace. Nope I was charged $400 and have not needed to return. I'm not sure if I caught these guys on a bad day or what but they are not somewhere I would recommend taking your car. They even returned my car to me with the check engine light on.

Everyone else quoted $5000-$8000. The fix never broke. Walsh's will not waste anyone's time or money. If there is a way to fix a problem Rich will find a way . If he states it is not something he can do, believe him, he will not let anyone walk away without knowing exactly what you are looking at with your vehicle. Sad to read post on a person thinking it is about their color of skin. It is about the vehicles and the special treatment the vehicles will require from the owner when purchasing the vehicles - seriously -there are no fast fixes for Cadillacs and/or a Yukon. Sounds like the customer was looking for a way to get out from under the high cost of the dealership. Why would anyone say it is about his skin color.....sounds like the person is not thinking about the actual care of their vehicles. Plus God gives everyone their color of skin and that should carry a level of self respect.

If you value your car, your money, or your sanity, avoid this mechanic at all costs. I was quoted…read more$250 over the phone, but the moment he saw my car, the price magically doubled to $500. That should've been my warning sign, but what happened next was unbelievable. Apparently, I am not the only person he ghosted mid job. Every part of my vehicle he touched ended up damaged. Hose clamps? Left off completely. Interior trim? Broken. Hood latch? Destroyed. The "repair" he did created more problems than I walked in with, and I had to pay over $800 to a real mechanic just to undo the mess he made. That's not an accident -- that's incompetence on a level that shouldn't be anywhere near a toolbox. And once the damage was done, he vanished. No returned calls, no accountability, no attempt to fix what he broke. Just silence. Based on my experience, this person has no business working on cars. The lack of skill, honesty, and professionalism is staggering. Do yourself a favor and stay far away -- your wallet and your vehicle will thank you.
