I'll give the current franchise holder the benefit of the doubt with a so-so rating. Nonetheless, the work done by his predecessor was less than professional. We had a 22kw Generac generator installed by Mr. Sparky. We chose them because they could do a turnkey job...purchase the generator, arrange the permitting, do the electrical connections and extend the gas line. I'll explain what we had to do. Find a generator, prepare a pad for installation, draw an engineering drawing for the permit, do the rigging to lower the 500 lb generator into place, and locate the underground utilities after Mr. Sparky sent PG&E to the wrong location twice (despite having already produced an engineering/ situs drawing showing the correct location). Now to the crux of our complaint. We were installing solar and the contractor discovered damage to the buss bars in our main circuit panel. Mr. Sparky was the last to enter the panel while connecting the electric and transfer switch. They apparently caused a short circuit and scorched the panel and the box and melted some of the buss bars. We went back to Mr. Sparky requesting reimbursement for our expenses repairing the bussing. Sparky corporate has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. The local franchisee was sympathetic but passed the buck to the corporate HQ. They have been wholly unresponsive despite multiple emails and calls. So, you've got to ask yourself what your experience is likely to be. Do you feel lucky? Don't count on that guarantee for help. read more

Can't speak highly enough about Mister Sparky and their amazing customer service, work ethic and technical expertise. One Evening we lost power to half of our house. I tried to triage the problem but couldn't figure it out. Early the next morning I called a couple of electrical companies we have used in the past but they were booked up. Then I called Mister Sparky in Novato. The call center said they would have an electrician out by 9:30 am. Are you kidding me! At 9:30 am, Sam, who is the manager showed up. Sam took some time, diagnosed and fixed the problem. We discussed some up grades to our 52 year old home that we have been wanting to do for awhile, including installing an EV charger. I felt the price was fair and Sam scheduled the work a couple of weeks out. Lead technician Cesar showed up as scheduled and over the next few days he and his crew, Leo and Jim completed the job on time and within the price quoted. In February we called Mister Sparky in Novato to install an EV charger and review some outlets in the kitchen. We called to set up an appointment on Friday and Sam came out on a Saturday, which was amazing. Sam spent nearly 2 hours reviewing our concerns and the work we wanted done. He was very thorough and helpful looking at options that fit our budget. The work was scheduled for the following Tuesday. Tenzin and Leo arrived on time and were extremely courteous and efficient. First, they both carefully reviewed our power concerns in the kitchen. They reviewed the exact locations of the new outlets so we would be happy with the look. We determined the EV charger location in the garage and then they had us test the location for ease of use to charge the car. Mid-morning, we left the house for a few hours as the power was turned off. After about 2 hours, Leo called to tell us the power was back on so we could return home. Tenzin carefully cleaned the floor where the access hatch to the crawl space was, which I really appreciated as it was in the walk-in closet. We will call Mister Sparky for future electrical work! We have needed quite a few electrical needs to be solved for a few years now but it's been difficult to get anyone to do these "smaller jobs". We needed an iffy switch to be inspected, an outdoor light to be fixed, some indoor bulbs / tube lights to be converted to LED, etc. Sami visited us to take a look at everything. He educated us on one issue which turned out to not be an issue at all (money saved!). He gave us approximate quotes for each of the issues we needed to fix, as we discussed them, so we had an idea of what would be a bigger expense versus a smaller one. He gave us options on what issues we could package together and solve. Since we wanted to manage the total expenses we decided not to fix some things we "wanted" and instead focused on the things "needed" to be fixed. Sami wasn't pushy at all and was understanding of our need to manage a budget. An appointment was scheduled for only a few days later which was a pleasant surprise. Rick was the technician who arrived on time. He looked at all the jobs to be done and told us in what order he'd prefer doing them. Some of the work needed us to make decisions (e.g. where to place the light fixture in the ceiling) and Rick helped us with options. He did a fantastic job and was very detailed oriented. He cleaned up the space after he was done. He explained how some of the installations would work and helped us select the right light color / brightness. He was thorough; he did not rush through his work or through conversations with us. For years we haven't been able to find OUR electrician. We hope our search has ended! The master panel, sub-panel, and most outlets were original to the home (built in early 70's), and were definitely showing their age, with some potentially dangerous issues.
