We had such a great experience at Mission BBQ on Concord Pike. We had the smoked chicken and turkey sandwiches with fries, and everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. We asked Erin, who was cleaning tables, if she liked the bread pudding, and she said it was incredible. She brought some over for us to try, and I have to say, it was one of the best bread puddings I have ever had. Shocking for a QSR. She even brought extra caramel sauce on the side, which was a really thoughtful touch and made the dessert even better. Erin was so friendly and attentive, and it really made our visit special. The manager, Rochelle, was also very kind and helpful when we chatted with her. You can tell the staff here genuinely care about making guests feel welcome. Tried this place for the first time tonight. For those that don't know, you walk in, place your order (somewhat cafeteria style) and then find a place to sit and eat. I will say the brisket was good (get the moist) and the cheesy potatoes were decent. I also thought their coleslaw was pretty yummy (so many places it's barely edible). However one disappointment was the corn bread. It's a small slice and was pretty dry. On a separate note, the staff was friendly and the place was clean and it felt pretty relaxing. I also admire their mission to helping veterans and those in uniform. I'll definitely go back as I want to try the mac and cheese and the jalapeño and cheese sausage. read more

The moment we opened the door, my husband and I looked at each other with pure joy at the amazing aroma of barbecue that hit us. Their menu is small, but pretty standard for a bbq joint. Last week (8/7/25) i wanted to try something different for dinner. I'm so glad i chose this restaurant. From the time i walked in to when i left, i had the best experience. I want to shout out to Ellie who was the most kindest, welcoming, employee. She greeted me when i walked in and offered to explain the menu to me as this was my very first time here. She was the best!! Everyone i spoke to in the restaurant were kind and professional. The food was the best bbq I've had in a looong time. I got the ribs (5 bones), mac and cheese and corn on the cob. Everything was fresh, tasted so good, especially the mac and cheese, with 5 different cheeses. this came highly recommended by Ellie!! If mission bbq was a department store it would be like a Walmart. People may like the patriotic theme thats great and the discount prices for military and first responders but after that it's just mediocre food not really good. There are so many good bbq spots around I guess people like to get a free dessert and refill sodas for being in the service then eat good bbq. Don't see how these places exist. read more

grew up on TN bbq and I've been trying everything in Wilmington to find a good one. I will preface this with while I may be a southern bbq girl, I do not eat pork so take from that what you will. I haven't been on here before last night because for some reason but I'm a firm believer in "I don't trust a bbq house that doesn't have pulled chicken" and that is a rarity around here. I finally tried it and I will absolutely be coming back, probably too often. first of all, the cornbread. I'm very picky and I HATE dry cornbread so 90% I avoid it. the cornbread was perfect. Top 5 I've ever had for sure. the coleslaw was delicious. I prefer a very sweet and tangy coleslaw which I will say this was not. it was very briny/pickley but surprisingly very very good. The Mac and cheese was very good. definitely one of my favorites I have had around here. all of the BBQ sauces were very run but specifically the Memphis Belle was amazing. I do love brisket but when I saw the options for it, I did opt for the "lean"option rather than the moist. that may be on me and I will try again because I am probably just used to a very fatty and wet brisket so I was trying to avoid that and in return, I thought the brisket was very very dry. more of like... an over cooked pot roast meat. also less rubbed on the crust than expected but, again, I am very very picky and I still thought it was pretty fine. I'll get the moist next time. the chicken though. I genuinely can not express how much I have missed it since moving to Delaware. it was moist and tender and fantastic. We ordered the 3 meat sampler with pulled pork, sausage, and brisket. The order also came with cornbread, and we decided to add baked beans and mac and cheese as extras. The meat was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and just the right amount of smoky flavor, not too overpowering. We opted for the jalapeño sausage, which surprisingly wasn't too spicy but still had that distinct jalapeño kick. Now, onto the sauces - I'm not typically a sauce person, especially when it comes to BBQ, but I have to admit, ALL of their sauces were fantastic. It's a fairly new location of a chain barbecue restaurant so quality control of the food served is spotty. Some days their sliced brisket is excellent; some days their sliced brisket is barely edible. The pulled chicken sandwich varies in quality from day to day. The sides are uniformly good. The pulled pork almost never misses. What is consistently excellent here is both flavors of their smoked sausage. The Black Plate Special varies monthly and is sometimes worth the extra cost. I do not like their chopped brisket pre-doused in sauce but on a Tall Texan Sandwich it can be okay enough. I started going to Missions in Dover. When it came up north I was concerned that the service wouldn't be the same. Well... after tonight I know for a fact that I didn't have to be concerned; as long as they stay consistent. This evening 5/8/24, between 6:30 - 7pm, Brianna took me and my son's order, she greeted us with a smile, she read our order back to us with no problem. She did forget to give us cups but when it was brought to her attention she immediately gave them to us, with apologies. The young lady, Janessa, when I tell you she was on it, she was on it! She made sure that she offered every condiment, utensils, and then she noticed that we had drinks, that we were drinking and she still offered a cup holder. The Brother in the back, I didn't get his name, but we'll call him Old School, he cut our ribeye perfectly, he cut the ribeyes like he cares! I know you may read this and say ok, they did what they are supposed to do, and your right, but how many times have you gone to get food and the simplest things are ignored example: you go through the drive thru down the road on your 30 min lunch break and you only order fries. You get back to the work, look in your bag, there's no ketchup and not even one napkin in the bag with your fries and now your asking everyone around you if they have ketchup and you may end up eating them w/no ketchup. Everybody knows that if someone orders fries that you need to put at least 2 ketchups in the bag; whether the person eats ketchup or not and at least two napkins, thats standard. So when someone takes the time to do all of those small things they should be recognized because those are the type of people that keep customers coming back! I had already heard great things about Mission BBQ but it surpassed all of my expectations by a mile. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was super delicious. Very juicy. I also ordered the Mac n Cheese which was magnificent. The service was amazing. They were patient and very polite. What really stood out to me was the friendliness of the staff. They were polite, cordial, accommodating and just a nice group of people. Finally got to go to the new Mission BBQ in Wilmington and we regret that trip. We have been going to the Mission BBQ's in Springfield and King of Prussia for years and loved every trip. We have been looking forward to the Wilmington location opening since it's 5 minutes away from our house. Boy was that trip so not worth it. We got a pound of beef brisket and it was like trying to eat a piece of leather. It was so thick that we only got 8 slices from a pound of beef and it was cut with the grain instead of against the grain. Beef brisket should pull apart easily in your fingers if cut properly, not require a steak knife to saw thru it. After my wife and I struggled to eat 1 slice each we just tossed the rest in the trash. On to the next disappointment, the box of french fries were so over cooked that they were hard to eat. The only part of the meal that was as expected were the baked beans which were actually pretty good. Overall we spent alot of money to just have baked beans for Sunday dinner. read more
