This is the very best BBQ I've had in Cleveland yet. Really. They have absolutely the very best brisket in Cleveland. It was spectacular. You can purchase brisket two ways, regular or moist. Moist is their code word for "fatty". I LOVE fatty brisket. This was phenomenal and probably the 2nd best brisket I've ever had in my life. The first goes to "Bub City" in Chicago. And yeah, yeah, I know, I haven't been to Texas yet. Someday I hope....some day.... Anyway, the brisket is worth coming here for. It was near perfect. The pork ribs were good--above average--but much, much too salty. It must be the rub on the ribs. You'll need to eat them with one of their sauces, which are very much like the ribs--not the best I've ever had, but good. The meat was good, but they just put way too much rub on it. The brisket was better. There's nothing like great cornbread with barbecue! You receive a piece of cornbread with every meal, which is EXCELLENT. Swear to god, some of the best cornbread I've had. Most cornbread tends to be dry and crumbly. This cornbread was very moist and slightly sweet. It was just perfect. The beans with brisket...Well, I wasn't a fan. The beans were small and just tasted like some soup concoction. I felt like I was eating a stew or soup. I wouldn't recommend them if you like barbecued beans. If you're a knuckle dragger like me, who appreciates decent barbecue, I'd come here over any other place in Cleveland. read more

Stopped in yesterday for lunch. Had two rib bones, beef brisket, coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread. The ribs were meaty and tender. The beef brisket was hard and dry and I could not eat it. The coleslaw had too much celery seed in it. The baked beans wee hot, but not tasty. Cornbread was good. The young lady that took my order asked how was it and I told her I could not eat the beef brisket due to being hard and dry. Her response was "I'm sorry". I asked her if I could try the shrimp and her response was "we are not allowed to give samples". Although the staff was nice, clearly they could care less about customer satisfaction with the food! This was the first time my boyfriend and I visited, and the experience was amazing from start to finish. The service everyone provided was outstanding. The man who helped us--I'm assuming he was the manager--went above and beyond by walking us through the menu, answering questions, and making sure we enjoyed our meal. We were even offered samples of some of the meats before ordering, which really helped us decide what we wanted. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be coming back, not just for the food, but for the incredible service and genuine human interaction. I highly recommend trying the sauces--Texas Twang was my favorite. Ordered 2 dinners - pulled pork and chicken. Food was "slopped" onto plate. Paper was soaked with juice/grease from meat and sides . The meat was not even warm. Disappointed in food and serving staff. It will be awhile before we eat there again- if at all. We opted not to return our food since the staff could not even take care of a simple request for butter without asking multiple times. I have eaten here 4 times, so I can offical write an honest and review consistnt with the service provided. I was first intoduced to mission BBQ through their hometown heros cup which I purchased. This cup allows refills for $1.07 all year long for the bargin price of $5 up front cost. The cost of the cup directly supports "hometown heros" such as vets, cops, firemen, and ems. One day while filling my cup I noticed a qr code for hometown heroes, I enrolled as I work as an EMT/MA I was given an email for a free sandwhich. A few days later they asked for my birthday, and I got another free sandwich as an early birthday gift. I am assuming I will get another on my real birthday. I love the work they are doing for the community and particularly for the community servants. Each time I have eaten there the food has been great. I personally like the moist brisket sandwich add coleslaw although the pork sandwhich is a easy second. As for sides the greens were the best, I also really love their cornbread. I am not a huge fan of their mac and cheese, it is not a bad mac and cheese I am just not a bread crumb topping kinda girl- so if thats your thing I think you will like the mac and cheese. The employees are also great, they are helpful, productive and knowledgeable of allergens in their food. I have an allergy, and they helped me navigate what I was safe to eat which I appreciated. Ribs were good and would order again, although since they didn't get my order correct will stick to city bbq in Avon. Remainder of the meat: pulled pork, pulled chicken, smoked turkey that we sampled was ok I'd say but wouldn't bring me back to a restaurant the messed up my order. Excellent BBQ. I had some wonderful Brisket, moist with a nice light smoked flavor. The Jalapeño, Cheddar Sausage was juicy, flavorful and had a nice snap from the outer casing. Sides are always well prepared and delicious. The place is clean and the one thing that really makes this place so good is the warm friendly enthusiastic staff. I can honestly say this is one of the most enthusiastic, helpful staff I have encountered in a very long time at any level of restaurants. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. I've only gone twice but both times I've enjoyed my experience and food. I've personally only been able to try the pulled pork sandwich NC style (which I do like) and the brisket (which is a hit-and-miss sometimes, to be honest). Most of the sides I enjoy -- but there are some I feel like they are lacking flavor (like the green beans). Knocking down one star because I feel like if you go later in the evening the brisket is not as "fresh" tasting compared to when I had it in the afternoon -- the difference, in my opinion, was significant. Ordered takeout today at the recommendation of a friend and had a great experience! I called to place my order and the man who answered was super friendly and so polite. I got a pulled chicken sandwich combo with mac and cheese and potato salad. I've never been here so I asked if I could try a few sauces and he happily obliged. They have about 8 or 9 I think. I asked for the KC classic, NC vinegar, Texas Twang and Tupelo Honey (the GOAT). Potato salad is seasonal but oooh it is good, it's unique and I can't place why but ooh it is delicious. The mac and cheese is amazing- creamy and cheesy with some breadcrumb topping. I sampled all the sauces and I liked all but the Texas Twang. It was just okay wouldn't get again. KC classic was just that, the NC vinegar is really unique and yummy if you love malt vinegar this was really good for dipping some of my overflow of chicken from the sandwich. It was giving salt and vinegar vibes. My favorite was by far the Tupelo honey which is sweet but has a creeping heat. My lips were burning and I loved every moment of it. Just the right amount of heat. It is SOOoOoO good. I doused my chicken sandwich in it and proceeded to experience bliss. I will probably buy a bottle which btw are very reasonably priced at $3.99. Butter for the corn bread was on the table with the straws & wipes which is across the the pop machine. Sadly, I found that out after eating. Cornbread was good even without butter. There were 6 sauces on the table. Smoky Mountain was good. You get a good amount of pork on the sandwich. It was very good. An employee came out to clean tables ( we were done) saw my taters & asked if I wanted something else. I had told him they were lousy. I was stuffed,so I said no thanks. The sausage was decent.
