I came to Canton Akron Ohio to take care of some family affairs and I was looking for a good barbecue place. I found Mission BBQ and when I went in they had just ran out of baby back ribs and the wait time was going to be between 30 and 50 minutes I told them that I will wait because I had the taste for some barbecue and had never been there before. so I paid for my order came back in when it was done and the managers recognized me and were happy to see me. when I paid and then even again when I came back in everyone was friendly & happy. The barbecue baby back ribs were good the green beans and the cornbread was delicious!!! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants any barbecue. Please go and support them. They also support our vets as well. If you have an event catered by Mission BBQ be sure to tell the servers to dish portions. Went to a wedding where the servers were lazy and offered their client the option of having Mission staff dish out the food, or self-service. The first 3/4 of the guests loaded up leaving little meat for remaining guests. Went to an event catered by Old 'Nothn Could be Finer' and the staff laid out an attractive service line and controlled portions beautifully. I know who I would hire. read more

I got take out, the ribs were really good, the brisket was a little dry but good flavor, and the pulled pork was really good also. The service was top notch, I really liked that they had a discount plan for veterans and service members. That's really cool! The green beans were really good, had that homemade flavor. My mom and I went a couple other places prior to stopping here. One spit wasn't open for business yet, the other had a crazy line. Much to our surprise, no line, quickly welcomed and served promptly. When we asked, what was gluten-free, the guy taking our order at the counter was quick to look into their pamphlet of dietary guidelines for the food and gave us all of the answers we asked questions about. Then he yelled back to the prep area the two orders were Gluten-Free. They quickly came out and the young man who gave me the trays, did say to me, there is one of the sauces that is not gluten free. We really appreciated the communication between the staff. It all started with Chris at the very beginning. The food was excellent!! The pork was pulled very full of the pork flavor. The baked beans were great too!! There is even some brisket in with the beans which added to the yum factor. What an awesome atmosphere at Mission. So much memorabilia for the armed forces. When we requested gluten free buns (which they do not have) he took it upon himself to verify the potato salad which wasn't but verified that the baked beans were. He also informed the meal prep area of "gluten free". When we picked up our food WITHOUT US ASKING we were informed that the only sauce that was not gluten free was the Texas Twang. I had the pulled pork which was very tender. They have six types of BBQ sauce. I enjoyed the KC Classic and the Memphis Belle. Tried a bit of each. Not only would I come back for the service but the food as well. One thing I wish all restaurants did: Recycle!! We had ordered ahead of time for pick up. The young lady on the phone was very nice and accommodating when I had questions as this was our first time eating there. Food: I ordered a platter so that we could try a variety of what they offer. We got pulled pork, pulled chicken and the original sausage. We paid to get extra sides and we got mac and cheese, green beans and coleslaw. They gave us two of ach sauce so we could try each one. My favorite was the KC Classic. The pulled chicken was probably the best meat on the plate. The pulled pork was very good but seemed a bit dry and some bites were near jerky texture. Sausage was EXCELLENT, although I was missing a bite to it so I will probably try the jalapeno sausage next time. Mac and cheese: I will say that I am personally not a fan of baked mac and cheese, but the bite I did try was pretty good for baked mac and cheese but my partner loved it. Green beans: When I say that these are the BEST green beans I have ever had not only at a BBQ place but period, I mean that. Next time, I may just get a quart of those! The coleslaw definitely could have been creamier. Overall: WAY better than Old Carolina (Which isn't hard to do). This will definitely be the local place we go to get our BBQ fix. Is is Texas, Kentucky or Tennessee good? No. But for a local chain, it does the trick and has some great sides. Next time we will also be sure to try the brisket. read more

The "pit master" there is incredibly rude to his fellow associates. I have noticed this multiple times now. My most recent visit the team was swamped and instead of helping he just stood there shaking his head at them. He then proceeded to say "fing idiots" and walk to the back room. I have also heard him ask a fellow associate if they were challenged because they were struggling to do something. This is extremely unprofessional and the customers should not be seeing this. He honestly needs to be humbled. When I called I spoke to a female manager who was very unprofessional and defending his behavior. To me it sounds like they are in a relationship and she is trying to keep him from getting in trouble because the way he was acting was not professional at all. Everytime I brought it up to her she would reply with "he would not act like that in front of customers" but he in fact did and in front of multiple witnesses. A few years ago, this was our "go-to" choice for take out. To say that it has declined is an understatement. The brisket used to be delicious. Today, for the second straight visit, even ordering the "lean" variation, it was a fatty, congealed mess. We ended up having to throw out more than half of an expensive order. There simply wasn't any meat in it. We tried to find some. We made a valiant effort. I noticed that when I picked up the order, at the height of the dinner rush on a weekday, the restaurant was nearly empty. A few years ago that wouldn't have been the case. I don't think I've ever been to a bad mission bbq, they know their stuff. We ordered pulled chicken and pork; both have a great hickory style smoked flavor. The pork is also slightly sweet. The fresh cut fries, bacon laden green beans, and pulled pork accented baked beans were all excellent. The Mac n cheese is creamy and super cheesy. Six different style bbq sauces to try from on the table. We personally like to mix Memphis Belle and the Tupelo Honey. The only downside, and with the current cost of food not technically a bad thing, is that it's just a tad smidge on the pricey side. Totally worth it though. read more

This place exceeded our expectations. You walk in and place your order in at the counter. Self service drink area was at the end, large dining area. We had a group of six and had no issues finding a table large enough for our group. Food was delivered to our table within minutes. Each table had a variety pack of different bbq sauces to try. I felt the portions were nice size. Everything we ordered was delicious. The kids loved the hand cut French fries and corn casserole. My shrimp was amazing, I will most defiantly return here soon.
