I personally really like this location of mission BBQ, I think the Riverview one vastly overcooks their food. I find that the food here is always done perfectly and is also done quickly. I was craving protein after a workout session and this hit the spot. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have not, I really like that the meat is not cooked in sauce but that you have the option to put your own sauce on it afterwards. TLDR: this is good bbq! not really good, or great, but solidly good. i would very likely eat here again. overall probably rate it closer to 3.5* if Yelp would ever get with the times and expand the ranking scale *ahem YELP* came in on a Mon night around 8 and it was pretty slow with a few tables and some to go orders being filled. they were out of the ribs and half chickens, and had 1 pc of salmon left, not too surprising considering they were closing within the hour. i ordered a 3 meat plate with 3 individual sides to go and will rate every item below. i will say the service was great, very friendly and prompt. the selection of sauces was pretty varied. the texas twang was my fav, tupelo honey heat was good but could've used a lot more heat, and the gator bite was the most unique, a burst of citrus in it, def not your typical bbq sauce. brisket: 1/5 simply put this wasn't good, yes i asked for lean but not overcooked steak/jerky texture, too many places get this wrong and it's usually a tell tale sign of a "chain" type bbq place. not hating, just being very objective, this wasn't good. jalapeno cheese sausage: 3.5/5, very good but not super juicy and a lot more lean than i was expecting, great flavor texture aside turkey breast: 4/5, VERY tender, but lacked smoke. best meat of the 3 i chose. bbq beans: 3/5 good not great, i did like the thicker consistency vs runny beans. collard greens: 2.5/5, i really liked it but it was far too mushy consistency wise, pretty good vinegary flavor though. green beans: 1/5 forgettable, wouldn't get again. not bad per se, just absolutely nothing stand out about it with its mushy texture and lackluster flavor. read more

I'll leave out the details but Nick walking from the other side of the store to assist at the register really changed my initial perception. He quickly took my order and made up for any inconvenience I could have encountered. I got two entree salads and sliced turkey and it was delicious.
