Was walking by Argyle and saw this! Just as I was craving for some soup, my boyfriend and I stopped by Miss Saigon. The restaurant has a nice wall design of what looks like a food market in Saigon. I was walking around the area looking into the yelp app while also browsing the neighborhood and found this spot. I saw the food the customers were having through the window and it looked very presentable and tasty.. I decided it to give it a try and was not disappointed. I had the roll sampler and it was good! I also tried the dried noodles with a chicken thigh and it came with a very nice chicken broth/soup on the side. There's so many Vietnamese restaurants in the area and it looked like this was the one most frequented by people. Not to mention, when I was walking out the door, there was a man standing outside and it looked like he was hesitating to come in as it was his first time trying out the restaurant. We've been going to this place for over five years and used to love it. Unfortunately, the quality food has significantly declined. The pho is completely different. It used to be clear, clean, and very flavorful. Now it's dark and murky, and tastes bad. Based on the current taste, I think they not be fully skimming the soup scum during preparation. The short ribs used to be bigger, more tender, and delicious. Now they're smaller, tougher, and the flavor isn't as good. They used to use thin, long rice noodles, now they use thick, fat, and short rice noodles, which don't taste as good. They recently told me they won't put the rare beef on the "side" for a takeout order (as opposed to putting it in the pho broth, which overcooks the beef), when I've been getting it that way for years. The crab rangoons used to be my favorite app, and now they're tasteless, seemingly made with only cream cheese and no crab. Unfortunately, we won't be eating here anymore. I came here on a whim for lunch with hubby on a Sunday afternoon. There were no other customers inside but the workers were on their phones the entire time and didn't check on us. It was also cold inside since there was a draft coming in. I had the bun bo hue which was good but I wish there were more noodles. Hubby had the mi kho which he enjoyed. The lettuce, mint, basil, and cucumbers in my salad bowl were all very crunchy and fresh. The egg roll was crispy and hot. The chicken was well seasoned and generous in portion size. After searching and walking into a few places for pho (some of them which sold out for the day and others with a crazy wait time), we finally came across Miss Saigon Restaurant and it definitely was a gem worth popping into! Cute place with a handful of tables, which were all full when we arrived. The service here was good and the pho was even better! It was definitely worth the hike up here to Uptown for pho since nowhere else does it better. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were large. We will definitely come again! It was 1 avocado split into quarters fried in panko and covered in spicy mayo and unagi sauce and maybe some spicy tuna (I couldn't tell with so much sauce). Can I compliment the free refreshing lemon (or was it cucumber) water? That was refreshing on a hot day! Cute place to enjoy the atmosphere. Food portions are relatively small and they try to make Vietnamese a bit more upscale in a casual setting. Went on a beautiful July Saturday during Covid. They had outdoor seating that was mostly in the shade but we opted to eat inside. There weren't many people so everyone was social distanced and it was actually a really nice time. Service was pretty quick and the food was great. The sodas do cost a $1 for refills. We got the bbq pork Banh Mi which came with fries ($7) and the lemongrass chicken noodles salad ($9). And everything was really delicious, fresh, flavorful, really good! Good prices, clean interior. The banh mi french Brad was the perfect texture, soft, delicate, crisp crust but chewy interior. Great balance of pate, meat and pickles and fresh veggies. The fries were thick, nicely fried - you could choose between those or shrimp chips. The chicken noodle salad was really good. You could taste every ingredient and everything was amazingly fresh, one of the best I've tasted in a long time, a lot coming from someone whoo OK grew up in SoCal! I heard about Miss Saigon from an episode of Check Please. I came here after the feature (maybe sometime in October) and it was closed because they were so busy that they ran out of food from the weekend! So I'm happy I finally had the chance to make it up to Argyle again and to try this restaurant. I came on a Friday evening and it was surprisingly not packed at all. Overall I was impressed by the selection of food - they had a variety from pho, spring rolls, rice dishes, and hot pot but the menu was also so simple. I had the Saigon rolls, which were egg rolls wrapped in spring rolls - unique and delicious. I also had the beef short ribs, sooooo good! It was very well marinated and so flavorful and tender. It was served with rice and fries (weird but I still found myself munching on them). The pho was good too, definitely more flavorful than most pho I've had. This would be my new go to while in Argyle. The staff was very friendly and helpful while we were deciding what to order. My sisters have been talking about Miss Saigon for awhile now and I finally tried it last night. Our family has always gone to Tank Noodle which is down the street from here but I think I found a new favorite pho spot! I went with my sisters and we were seated immediately when we arrived. Service was fairly quick and everyone was friendly. I ordered the Pho Saigon and split an order of the springrolls. We wanted the fried egg rolls but accidentally ordered springrolls...whoops! Anyways they were still fresh and delicious and the peanut dipping sauce was awesome. As for the pho, wow it was amazing. The broth was incredibly flavorful and addicting and even better that it contained no MSG. I wish it included tripe and tendon but next time I'll see if I could add it. I decided to try this place with my brother on a Friday after work. It was pretty dead when we arrived. There was just one other table and they were wrapping up. Upon immediate entry the ambiance and level of customer service left something to be desired. The music was something you'd hear in an elevator and the servers were distracted by their phones and not very attentive. Further details on the staff will be at the end. We started with an order of 3 bao each. I had the shrimp and my brother had the pork bao. The shrimp were tasty and the breading had a good level of crisp without being overcooked. The pork on the other hand, would not be worth ordering again. It was more bao than filling and this resulted in a loss of flavor. For my entree, I ordered Pho Saigon. The portion was large and it had good flavor, I prefer the pho and overall dining experience at Tank Noodle, but this hit the spot. Now, back to the customer service! After we got our appetizer, a couple came in and the server sat them right next to us. We were at a booth/table setup, so the people next to us were very close! They noticed this too and moved. Immediately after our entree came, a second couple came in. Again, they were sat right next to us. At this point there were three tables being occupied (including ours). It was a little strange and we exchanged looks with the couple next to us like "Wtf are we basically on top of each other." It was a memorable experience for sure. I would order a separate order of them if I wasn't so full from the sandwich. Speaking of which, that cross section was a thing of beauty. The sandwich bread had a crusty exterior and nice chew that you need in order to feel like you actually had a substantial bite. No complaints about the pork but I wish there was more picked veggies and cilantro in the sandwich, just a personal preference. The friend loved the veggie pho, and she had a ton leftover because the portion sizes are generous. Other than that, the decor was cozy, they have little benches you can sit on or seats with backs on them. Bread was crunchy, went nicely with the beef and sauce. Fries was crunchy, buttery, delicious. The salad was okay, came with sweet sour sauce- not impressed. One complain is that the egg was still raw when served to us. The can still be cooked on the hot plate, but the plate was not hot enough the cook through the egg white. I'm pretty down with Miss Saigon from flavor profile to price point. I was just introduced to this restaurant this year (2017) and have visited a few times to cruise the menu. I give it 4 stars based off the beef short ribs alone which is one of my favorite cuts of meat anyways. The pho here is pretty good but not my favorite. It is and isn't your standard pho given the option of beef short rib that gives it a sweet broth. I only kind of liked it the first time but even more so now. There are a variety of other soups to try, and I have, but it's best to stick with the pho. The Ramen was kind of off the shelf and sloppy. The meat cuts come with steamed rice and French fries. It's all like meals you would hook up at home and it also hits home for me. I recently for the first time used the "Ask a Question" feature for Saigon. I asked if it was BYOB because there is no bar. Some fuckface Jimmy W. from Gilbert, AZ told me BYOB is never accepted anywhere and to stop being extremely cheap. However I asked the staff and for your dining pleasure being your drank cause Jimmy W. is from Gilbert, AZ once known as the Hay Shipping Capital of the World meaning he probably doesn't know shit.
