This doctor saw me early morning on 6/29 sent samples to lab. At 2 pm the next day, July 1st ahe posted message in patient portal stating my results are positive for 2 infections and would send antibiotic & another medication to my pharmacy. Getting medication sent to pharmacy by other doctors is usually very quick so I was surprised to find out that they had not received anything from Dr Mirto at 4:30 pm. I called BSW Health Pflugerville to find out why but woman on phone said all she could do is leave an URGENT message for a call back with the nursing department. Thursday, July 2nd at noon still no prescription sent to pharmacy so I call BSW Health Pflugerville again for help, after 20 min on phone the woman transfers me to another female that seemed irritated that I was calling again by stating "your message was already sent to Dr. Mirto this morning!" - I asked why hasn't anyone reach out to me yet and she rudely said I will submit another "urgent" message but she must be busy with other patients! I also replied to Dr Mirrors original notice of my test results after we hung up pleading for help with getting my antibiotic asap. Today, Friday, July 3rd still nothing so again I try calling BSW Health but now there answering machine states the are closed for the 4th of July holiday!! Furious about the lack of concern by Dr Mirto and BSW staff, I sent tried calling the office number for Dr Mirto listed on my lab report - it is a number that is not available to patients looking online but only got an answering machine stating staff is unavailable so leave a message, which I did. I also googled the director of BSW Texas, and find an email for Peter McCain in Dallas and notified him of my horrific experience with this Dr Mirto and BSW Health Pflugerville but have yet to get a response from him. FINNALLY st just after 4:00 pm today, I got a call from BSW Doctor in Marble Falls stating that he was made aware of my issues and said he would send over my medication to pharmacy as we spoke on the phone! He asked why I didn't speak to BSW Patient Adviser/ Nurse which is available 24/7 - I informed him that that option was never available on their phone system, nor did any of the 3 different women I talked with at BSW offered that option. I asked him for that direct phone number but he didn't know it off the top of his head but he did sent me a patient portal message with the number. So if someone else every needs to reach BSW for help with medical issue that number he shared is 254-724-7037 or 1-800-724-7037. I plan to file a complaint with the Texas Medical Board against Dr Mirto's failure to follow through with appropriate patient care. read more

She is very thorough and listens to what you are saying. The wait time was minimal and the office and room was clean. She's a gynecologist who great in helping with menopause symptoms and explains causes and treatments. read more

She doesn't seem to take me seriously at all when I express concerns regarding my cycle being MONTH(S) long at only 20 years old. I have. had this issue as a reoccurring issue since I was 16. She just gives me meds and hasn't attempted to actually tell me what she might think is the problem or even do any tests. It took multiple visits for her to even at least check for ovarian cysts. I would never recommend her to even my worst enemy. read more

The Bad: :: none The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? Definitely. It's hard to find a doctor you feel comfortable with and feel like you can talk to, so now that I've found Dr Mirto, I'm staying! I've been a patient of Dr. Mirto for 6 years now. I trust her with my health and my life. She's the only Doctor I've ever been to that asks questions about my lifestyle, sleeping habits, diet and exercise, vitamin regimen. Then goes on to recommend how to better my health through positive changes in my life. I've had a couple health issues in my past that she detected and guided me through. I don't know where I'd be without her. Honestly. I respect her advice and feel she is fantastic at her job. And as for her running late, I would wait in the office for a day for her time. As far as the records go, it has nothing to do with the lovely care she gives her patients. Those things can be fixed. Being a fantastic care giver with heart and soul is priceless. read more

I like the Dr. Herself. It's her lack of being on time that irritates me. My appointment is scheduled for 2:20. It's an hour almost later and still no Dr in sight. This older lady comes in after me, goes in before me. She asked if the Dr was on schedule. Complained that she has a 3 o'clock appointment and intends to be seen at that time. Remind you mine is for 2:20 aaaand she goes before me. What do we learn here. Bitch and be seen first. read more

I value my time. I assume most of you out there value your time. If I assume correctly, do not go to Dr. Mirto. As others have said, she is never on time. Not only that, I have had to call her 5 times before getting a return phone call from her. When I was left waiting in a patient room for 50 minutes on my last visit, I walked out. I let the front office people know I was left waiting for 50 minutes and all they said was that she still had a patient before me... no apology, nothing. Before leaving I asked the front office to have her call me with the test results that I had initially come in to review. Did she call me?? NO. I am frustrated and sad that I cannot recommend Dr. Mirto... read more

I sort of chose blindly when I chose Dr. Mirto. I found a few different doctors on yelp with good reviews but I ultimately chose her because of the location of her office. At first, my feathers were a bit ruffled because I didn't know where to park, or which building to go to, and so it took a little while longer than I had expected to find the right office. Plus I had to pay to park, which I'm not a fan of. In the future, I'll park across the street and walk. However, I really enjoyed meeting Dr. Mirto. She was very kind and knowledgable. We talked about many things, not just concerning women's health. I left feeling encouraged to make better decisions pertaining to my health, and had written instructions on how I could do so. Her staff was also friendly and helpful. I recommend her! read more

Dr. Mirto is the only OBGYN I will ever see in the Austin area. She has delivered my two children and I feel as though I was in the best of care with her and her staff. Her whole office is attentive and kind. Her bed side manner is great and she will never make you feel like you are asking a stupid question. She came to the hospital on her day off/not on call to deliver my first baby. She is so devoted to her patients. Some reviews claim to have to wait awhile to see her. It's because she is at the hospital delivering someone's baby. Put yourself in their shoes and be patient with her. It could be you one day at the hospital waiting for her to leave the office to come deliver your baby. She is so worth the wait and the best doctor I have ever been to. I had two not so perfect pregnancies and I owe a lot to her because I now have two perfectly healthy children. read more

I would like to address the criticism of Dr Mary Mirto I saw in Yelp. I have been her patient for more than 16 years and she delivered two of my babies. She saw me through three miscarriages and treated the whole person (both mentally and physically) very well. Because she is a DO, she is open to helpful non-traditional and preventative treatments. She helped me catch multiple health issues after the births, referred me to a specialist and advocated on my behalf with insurance companies during an appeals process. She was open to late night consultations and great for me as a new mom. * I will say her solo practice was run very well but when she joined a group at the North medical area I noticed the administrative office / employees were a mess. I am very glad she has since moved to Baylor Scott and White practice as a gynecologist. read more

While I am sure Dr Mirto is a good doctor I definitely recommend going somewhere else. I had booked an appointment during my lunch break knowing it would take longer than my allotted time so was prepared for that. I came prepared and on time. After waiting for 40 minutes I finally asked what was going on because no one had said anything to me or mentioned there would be a wait. Once I ask what was going on they tell me another to 30-45 minutes. Seriously?!? I said I couldn't stay I have work. Her response "ok" and looked down to type. Didn't try to fix the problem or anything. I told them it was my lunch break when I booked the appointment and they said I should be in and out. There was no apology. They are rude and run a poorly run office. I recommend going somewhere else. read more

I just moved to Austin and needed a new OBGYN doctor. There was no wait time. I was still working on my paperwork when I got called back to the doctors assistant to take my paperwork, weight, and blood pressure. Seriously within 10 minutes of a 5 minute discussion with her assistant, I was face to face with this doctor. She was very PCOS knowledgeable. I did not feel rushed, she took her time. She seemed really nice and spoke to me like an adult. I guess I'm not really sure what one of the previous reviewers was talking about. She was actually very kind and seemed as if she cared even if I was 1 patient of 100. This was my first time meeting the doctor and I seriously have no complaints. read more

I arrived at 2:20 because my appointment time was at 2:30. At 2:40, her nurse calls me back to take my vitals and put me into a waiting room at 2:45. I left at 3:30. No one even bothered to pop their head into the room to reassure me I was not forgotten. After being in the office for one hour and ten minutes, I never even met Dr. Mirto. That's as patient as I get. As I was leaving, I asked for my paperwork back (taking another three minutes of my day). They already lost the paper with a copy of my insurance card and driver's license. At this point, it was just comical. This is not the doctor for you if you can't set aside an entire day to one appointment. read more

Dr Mirto is my OBGYN of choice for several years now. Since I have relocated I go out of my way to keep her. It's not easy to find a doctor like her. I believe she truly cares about her patients and she does take the time to be with you and listen. She takes everything into consideration when trying to help you with your health including all aspects of ones well being and life style. I too have had to wait longer than I would like. But I suspect this is about not rushing her patients and if you can't wait one option is to make a early morning appointment! That works well for me too. read more

Best doctor for females and moms in Austin Texas! Have been using Dr. Mary Mirto for 5 years now. Today they fit me in last minute, and still ran on time. Dr. Mirto delivered my baby, and continues to serve as my primary care doctor to this day. read more

Dr. Mirto is my OB/GYN of choice. Never once have I ever felt like I'm part of the "cattle call" system that I've experienced elsewhere...you know, where they ask you the checklist and when you're talking to them you get the standard, "uh-huh...hmmmm...uh-huh" response. She takes the time to actively listen and is very warm, can be tough when you're not doing what you need to do or kind of hedging - especially in pregnancy but she's never, ever rude, mean, or uninterested in what you have to say. My last pregnancy that went to term was a very high risk pregnancy and she was there for me every step of the way. I truly believe she saved my son's life when he was born. She had an instinct that she needed to go ahead and get him out b/c my last contraction wasn't stopping (I'd only been pushing for 10 minutes and he had already crowned) and she told me that she could give me a little cut and he would be out, or we could wait until my next contraction but she felt that he needed to get out now. I listened to her b/c I trust her implicitely. It turn out that somehow my son's cord had gotten wrapped around his neck during the descent while pushing and he came out practically stillborn. It took several minutes for NICU to get him to take his first breath. If it wasn't for the trust I had in her to go ahead and do the episiotomy, who knows if my son would have survived through the next contraction b/c my contractions had slowed to 2-3 minutes apart when I started pushing. I miscarried a year ago and am pregnant again now. She is the only OB/GYN I will ever go to while I live here in Austin. read more

Dr. Mirto is my OB/GYN of choice - never been to a more holistic, kind doctor in my life! I called her staff & was booked an appointment for a few weeks out. The day of appointment, there was just a few minutes wait (yay!). Dr. Mirto took ages to chat with me about my life, uncovering stressors I didn't know I had, asking after my lifestyle, etc. All of this to be sure my birth control was the right one for me - AMAZING! =) She even took extra time to discuss vitamins I should implement & possible food allergies. I can't say enough good things about her! read more

Never have I felt more uncomfortable or shamed by a doctor. She was just demeaning and cruel. I'm 35 yrs old and do not need to be talked to like a 5 year old. Also, comment on my grooming are just really tacky. The fact she looked up my birth control in her little pocket guide made me feel even more helpless. Granted this was like a year or two ago. read more

While Dr. Mirto is an excellent doctor, it is virtually impossible to make an appointment . Her office has no answering machine, no email and the staff rarely picks up during normal office hours. Last visit, I was to organize blood work with the staff and it took over 10 calls to get thru to them. Then they could not find my paperwork & did not call me back as promised. it took another several days of calling unsuccessfully to get thru the next time. in the end, my blood work was orchestrated thru People's Pharmacy. This year i gave Dr Mirto one more shot & tried to make an appointment. I called 10 times during office hours and never got an answer. I give up. read more

My appointment with Mary Mirto was the absolute WORST experience I have EVER had. I arrive 15 minutes early to my appointment, I'm escorted into a room and instructed to change into one of the hospital gowns. I don't see Dr. Mirto until over an HOUR later. The entire exam was rushed and uncomfortable, and lets just say she was not gentle with her technique. She hurried me along with my questions and seemed annoyed when I expressed interest in switching birth controls. She was very condescending and by the time she left I was ready to cry. I will NEVER be back for another appointment. read more

Today I had an appointment and I arrived early as you should never be late, it is rude. As I sit in the waiting room it is now 10 minutes past my appointment time and I have the 2nd appointment of the day. The nurse calls the 1st appt back, it's now 15 minutes past my appointment. At this point a woman walks in the office who just so happens to be the Doctor. Obviously the 1st lady is not getting seen on time. Now 20 minutes after my appointment I get called back. At 25 minutes past my appointment I am sitting naked in a room waiting for the Doctor who will "be right in". Since the walls are not sound proof I hear the Doctor walk into the 1st appts room. So 50 minutes after my appointment I am still sitting naked in an exam room. Needless to say I left without being seen. The Doctor was also late to my first appointment last year. Same situation, I was sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called back and in strolls the Doc. So this is not a rare thing I dont think. If she was late due to an emergency she should have called her staff so they could inform us and let us decide to stay or go. I work in a medical office and know Doctors often run late but this is unprofessional. My time is just as valuable as hers, just becaue you get MD behind you name does not give you a pass on being respectful of other peoples time. I see patients all day long at my office and I would NEVER make a person wait almost an hour for their appointment. read more

Dr. Mirto is absolutely NEVER on time--if you have all the time in the world to sit and wait in an exam room, then by all means, book with her! But if you are on a schedule and expect her to respect your time at all, STEER CLEAR. My mother and I each went to Dr. Mirto, at the recommendation of our previous OB/GYN who was retiring, and at our separate appointments we were each made to wait for over 45 minutes for her to even come in the exam room. Dr. Mirto's excuse at my mother's appointment was that she was dealing with something with her child (which my mother would have easily understood, being a mother herself, if Dr. Mirto had simply CALLED her office and told them to let her patients know), but this reason was not made clear until she was already 30 minutes late. At my appointment, there was no child emergency, she was just backed up apparently (but no one told me this until 20 minutes after my appointment time, when I stuck my head out into the hall wearing only the gown provided and asked what the heck was going on!). Sitting in the exam room and listening to the conversations in the hallway for the next 30 minutes, it soon became very clear why, before NOON, she could already be so outrageously off schedule: Dr. Mirto is VERY talkative, and she is apparently so deeply involved in certain patients' personal lives that she talks and talks and talks before/during/after those patients' appointments and completely loses all sense of time and respect for the time of her other patients. read more

Dr. Mirto is great at making you feel relaxed. She asks simple questions, gives great general health advice, and gives you a quick, yet thorough exam. She doesn't waste your time and she's very chill. read more

Dr. Mirto has a terrible problem with communication with her patients. She ordered labs for me as well as imaging, and her office only posted partial results, with no explanation, to her patient portal which is NOT user friendly. I had to call her office three times to get an explanation of the results, which I was later informed were only a few of the total set of labs that would usually be ordered. I never got a full explanation of the results or why the testing was incomplete. She later changed locations and I didn't follow her to her current location, and my new doctor's office requested my records from her office. This was back in July. Even though such requests are usually complimentary among doctors' offices, I was billed for the copying of the chart. I just followed up (in October) to find that the chart hasn't been delivered to my new doctor. This chart has all my OB/GYN medical records since my son was born in 2009. Upon calling her office it is impossible to speak with a responsible person. On top of it all, I got a voicemail and email appointment reminder yesterday from her OLD office location! read more
