Locally owned and operated with so much love and passion. My girls have been thriving here since 2019. They navigated the pandemic amazingly, foster confidence and fun and have since added a "boys corner"! From recreation to competitive dancing, from tiny tots and special needs children to adult classes, this studio is just amazing. My kid got to experience opening for the Sacramento Kings w the studio, end of year show at Mondavi. Love watching my girls and this community thrive thanks to MIDC!!! read more

I cannot say enough about Mirror Image Dance Company! My son danced with MIDC for a few years when he was younger and I loved how welcoming, organized, and professional the studio is. Previously he had tried a few other dance classes elsewhere, but it was never the right fit. But he found his home at MIDC and is back as an 11 year old in the boys hip hop group. A few years back they added incredible adult dance and fitness classes which I could not more highly recommend. Hip hop with Jalen is the BEST, he is incredibly positive, motivating, the class is fun and engaging and as with all their classes, everyone is encouraging. Every staff member and instructor I have interacted either is positive and creates a welcoming and accessible environment for both beginners and advanced dancers. I cannot say enough about this studio and so grateful to have them in our town! read more

It's my daughter's second year at MIDC and she loves it! She took ballet classes last year and is doing acro classes this year. She took hip hop classes over the summer. She wanted to add another dance class this year but her schedule is too busy. She has liked all the classes; she just changes her preferences and it's great there are the different class options for her to choose from. MIDC has camps and competition team, too! My daughter has done a few camps and really enjoyed going. I already signed her up for another one. If I ask her if she wants to go to a camp, she doesn't hesitate and immediately says yes. Everyone I have talked to that works there has been really nice. I'm glad we found this dance studio and that my daughter enjoys dance class so much! read more

For many years, Mirror Image was the home away from home for my daughters. They both spent hours dancing, working, and hanging with their friends at the original home of MI when they were part of the dance team. Most of what I did related to MI involved dropping off, picking up, and various "dance mom" duties. Having two left feet, I always left the dancing to my daughters! But fast forward to today and I am now a freebird with both daughters in college. I made a list of the 55 things I want to do before I turn 55 (2.5 years or so away) and one of them was to take some dance classes. Now while MI is still at a similar address - the studio is totally transformed. There is room after room of dance floors, mirrors, dancer cubie holes, and a whole new section of adult dance and fitness opportunities. So far, I have taken cardio fitness, groove pointe, and strength and sculpt - all of which have moved me in new and fun ways! Mostly I keep coming because I love the music and fun company - and it is good to try new things. And then I won a month of free classes and now I am getting some moves! Next up, hip hop! read more

MIDC's adult classes are an absolute gem. The instructors are passionate teachers who go above and beyond to make classes welcoming, supportive, and accessible. The schedule has many offerings throughout the week, including late evening classes, and the studio spaces are clean and very large. I have taken heels, jazz funk, hip hop, ballet, and contemporary, and on the fitness side I love groove pointe. Heels is my favorite (and no, you don't need to wear heels--socks are fine!). read more

My kinder loves going to dance lessons at MIDC. Not sure if he is actually learning any moves, but he keeps wanting to come back, which is great. I had a concern that the music was played too loudly during lessons and they took my concern seriously once I brought it up and kept the volume lower. I really appreciate being heard. All in all the people are great and my kid enjoys it. Can't really ask for more. read more

Our daughter joined MIDC in 2020 as a 3rd grader. After one year on the recreational team, she quickly realized this was the sport for her and committed to the competition team. It is not only about dancing but also the MIDC community. Her experience in the program has benefited both her physical and social-emotional development. She has gained confidence through performing on stage and meaningful friendships fostered through hard work and collaboration with her peers. Currently, she is developing mentoring and leadership skills through the Work Exchange program. Marlaina is a firm but supportive director and my daughter deeply respects her as a coach; she skillfully works with all levels! As parents, we have enjoyed the personal connections made with other families in the community and look forward to sharing the joy of witnessing our dancers' progress on stage. The studio has grown to offer many genres for both children and adults. I highly recommend this dance community if you or your child is interested in dance! read more

My daughter has been attending this dance studio for over 3 years, and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. The coaching is fantastic - the instructors are not only highly skilled, but also incredibly supportive. One of the highlights of our experience has been the wonderful community within the studio. My daughter has made so many friends who share a love for dance. The camaraderie and support among the students are truly special and have made her time here even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a dance studio that offers exceptional coaching and fosters a positive, community-driven atmosphere, I highly recommend this studio. The staff are incredible and nurturing. Marlaina and Jaclyn are amazing at what they do. Most importantly, they make it fun and allow your kiddo to build a positive community outside of school. Since the age of two, my daughter has been dancing. Mirror Image Dance Company recently became our daughter's new dance studio, and it has been the best move for our family. It is amazing how much her dance technique has improved! The owner treats us as if we were family, and she loves it there. Marlaina is extremely gifted in the way she runs her dance business. Her organizational skills and communication skills are second to none! Each and every girl who walks through that door is treated with genuine care by her and her staff. It is impossible for me to express my appreciation for the dance studio, its owner Marlaina, and the members of her staff as well as the teachers. For me, the cherry on top is having UC Davis alumni dance teachers. Marlaina is also a UCD alumna! read more

MIDC is well organized, professional and great with the students. My daughter coming from another studio couldn't be happier.

I had a really great time and the instructors are super sweet, fun and motivating. Very clean studio that is definitely covid safe.

We love this studio. It's clear Marlaina believes everyone can dance. Everyone gets a part and everyone is included, even for the dance team. The kids are supported and older kids mentor younger ones. The program for the littlest kids is really exceptional- my then 4yo dances rec for a year, begged to try the team and had such a rewarding year as a 5yo going to the handful of competitions. She's back for another year! read more

My daughter has been dancing with MIDC for 3 years now. Marliana states she "can turn anyone into a dancer". That statement rings true for my daugher. She's not a natural in this sport. Her flexibility isn't the best but her passion is off the charts. MIDC has harnessed their instruction skills to bring my daughter to a level of dance neither of us ever imagined. I've watched her self-esteem grow and her technique to morph from beginner to a young woman with grace and confidence. I love that they take all skill levels and the teams are incredibly supportive of all dancers from beginner to expert. New to dance? Give MIDC a try and trust the process. They can, indeed, turn any child into a dancer. read more

My daughter just signed up for the mini ballet class on Mondays just a few months ago which she has been absolutely loving. The staff is incredibly sweet and keep the class attention up with all kinds of fun! This past weekend my daughter participated in the spring showcase and it was phenomenal to watch. All the students at various ages are incredibly talented and even my daughter who is 4 years old did amazing along with her peers, I know this was all because of the staff and their efforts. The costumes were also beautiful and hand made! I highly recommend joining this dance studio if you are looking for a place that is professional, kind and respectful to all of the students and parents. Also, last but not least, super talented!!! read more

My little one has been doing recreational dancing at MIDC for a little over a year and also took part in their last annual showcase. I can honestly say that I've seen her growth as a dancer soar! It has also helped boost her confidence which is a plus. My daughter has grown to love dance so much more and her passion truly transpires when she practices. She was recognized by one of her teachers and was recommended to join the competition team. Although we chose not to do the competition team this time around, my daughter felt so honored and proud to find out that her skillset was highlighted which I have noticed MIDC will do often by choosing a "dancer of the month". I remember feeling a little skeptical at first when I signed up my daughter because without prior experience, I worried that the outcome would be like what is shown on television for other dance studios. On the contrary, MIDC has shown to be very strength-based and it is noticeable that they prioritize inclusivity. Also worth noting that the showcase costume was absolutely ADORABLE! Another thing I appreciate is that they have a wide range of different class times/days so it makes it easy to fit into our weekly routine. The owners are very communicative via email and have shown to be understanding/accommodating when any concerns are raised. MIDC has truly exceeded my expectations so much so that it drove me to decide to take some of their adult classes and have noticed my own improvement in a matter of 2 months! haha I love that they are expanding and adding more diversity to the genres and class types. It would be nice to see if the expansion will influence the diversity amongst the number of dancers/teachers deciding to join by drawing in more people of color, multi-lingual individuals, and families from various socioeconomic backgrounds/statuses as representation would be key. Thank you so much MIDC for all that you have offered. For those considering signing up, please come and take a class. You won't regret it. The first one is always FREE! read more

I have been a ballet teacher for over 30 years now. I have taught at many studios throughout the years. But this studio is magical. It is such a pleasure to teach. It is completely supportive to all dancers, and staff. I find that the staff works beautifully together to give the dancers the best possible training. Not only is it the class that shine but ever detail. It is a home to all! Thank you to this amazing place for giving everyone a chance to be a dancer. And taking care of your staff, I think that says it all. read more

MIDC is a welcoming atmosphere. My children are learning skills far beyond what is demonstrated on the dance floor.... self confidence, positive attitude, respect, caring & kindness, which is a reflection of the owners, and instructors. They are conscientious, with attention to family and family needs. There is a high level of training across the genres and all 3 of our girls are learning so much as the entire staff are dedicated and excel in their disciplines. This studio far exceeds our family's expectations. My daughters say they feel part of a family here at MIDC with superior teachers and energetic, organized, attentive & loving coaches, Marlaina Jaclyn and Lyzette. We know that it was the right decision to enroll at MIDC as they have discovered their strengths and have developed greater self confidence as a part of team MIDC. read more
