It won't do anything on its own and it more or less reminds me of a sad broom. Today was that morning. My girl Tina sang praises about her salon, and hairdresser, Erica. So I called Studio West. Erica was off, but Suzie worked me in with Caitlin right after work. Woo! Her shampoo was really good. Very relaxing. Felt amazing after a crazy long day at work. And there's just something about someone else washing your hair, amirite? The shampoo, like Tina said, smelled so good. I'm still sniffing my hair an hour later. Haha. She made small talk about her dog, her son and her husband. I was really glad she didn't ask me a million questions, because I deal with that all day long. She made really quick work of my cut, I was only in the chair for about twenty minutes, style and everything! She gave me such a relaxing blowout. I almost fell asleep. My hair was perfect. It feels so nice, and I doesn't look like a sad broom anymore. I'm sure I'll be back for mor services, they do everything here!

I had heard a bunch of great things from a few friends & though I'd be in good hands. I emailed with them asking if I could get an appt on a specific date with the owner (I don't like going to ppl who don't own the store bc they tend to be less knowledgeable & less professional). This proved to be the case. The owner was unavailable & I was told Janiece specialized in curly hair. Well, I guess their version of curly hair is type 4 hair because Janiece had NO CLUE how to do my baby's hair! I specified before I went there AND WHEN I WAS THERE that he wanted to donate his long hair to kids in need. He has type 3 curly hair with nice ringlets ... She wanted to blow his hair straight before cutting it. I told her we wanted to be able to keep it in a ponytail .. She cut all his hair off w/o ponytailing it 1st so it could be donated! He looked like a frizzy poodle when she was done. She also took a razor to his hair which I found out after I took him to a Dominican salon is a HUGE hair no no that causes split ends!!! The Dominican salon fixed my son's hair but the damage had already been done. His hair was way too short & not cut right at all from the beginning! If you as a hair stylist CANNOT do something or you are inexperienced in it (such as interracial hair) DO NOT LIE TO PEOPLE claiming you know what you're doing!!! The truth WILL come out! You cannot treat type 3 hair as if it were type 4 hair!!!!!! On to my hair. I got a sew-in weave. Oh wait - She was 1.5 hrs behind when I got there to our appt at 9:30am bc of "another client".... But there's more on her promptness after I tell you how she ruined my hair. Janiece asked if I was tender headed. I told her no, In fact I have a high pain tolerance - well I guess she took that as a challenge bc when I finally got home my head started to hurt. Ok this is normal... 2 days later it still hurt the same way it did the 1st day. I looked closer in the mirror and my forehead SKIN was pullled so tight that (1) I had a bubble/wrinkle & (2) my Head was inflamed in various areas from my skin being literally lifted OFF MY SKULL bc of how tight she pulled the thread! I immediately txt her telling her it was too tight & asked her to loosen it. I was going out of town the day before she was able to "fit me in" so I popped Tylenol for over a week while in pain. I txt her as soon as I got back & she still couldn't take extra time to loosen my hair! Her excuse was that she was going out of town. (2 wks in pain feeling as though my scalp and hair are being ripped from my head.) Week 3 and she FINALLY gives me an appt. I get there at 8am & we had discussed and the salon is pitch black and closed. I txt her with no response. She txts me back 10 mins later saying she's running behind. I told her I wasn't feeling well & would give her a few more minutes. I waited almost an hr before I left. She txt me she was there 5 mins after I left. The effects of her ignorance and unprofessionalism have cost me my hair as well as my son having his long hair. Had she not lied about knowing how to do his hair, he would still have it. The hair along my sides all eventually FELL OUT. It's just now starting to grow back a year later. I should have written this sooner and contacted the owner but I was upset & embarrassed (even though I had no real reason to be. She and the owner should be embarrassed. Her license - if she really has one, needs to be revoked.) The only good thing that came out of this horrific experience is that I now know what to do/look out for when I go to new hair salons. Stay away from this place!!!! Or at least Janiece!!!
