I tried calling a few months later to make an appointment, knowing that she was no longer there. I asked for a few of the other stylists and the receptionist informed me that none of them were taking new clients. The only option she gave me was a stylist who always seems to have a really bad attitude. She always had a lot of open appointments, which I take as a bad sign, and she had done a poor job on my haircut once in the past. I asked for a Saturday appointment because I work in Pittsburgh and get home late in the evenings. The receptionist continued to insist I come in after work during the week and ended up giving me one of the last appointments of the night. I figured I would give the stylist another chance. Unsurprisingly, the stylist was in a really bad mood, acted very impolitely, and did a terrible job with my hair. It's a shame because I really enjoyed going here and there are several amazing stylists at the salon, they just do not take any new clients.

Having researched various salons on yelp I was frustrated that none would live up to the services of my previous stylist. One day I was out getting my nails done in Tropiano plaza and decided to check out the new salon next door, "Primp." I was drawn in my the sharp design. The decor is a perfect balance of modern and forties vintage. So cute! I was greeted by the owner Nicole, and though she was busy she offered to sit down with me for a consultation. After explaining my disposition she went through a detailed description of how she would do my cut and style, highlights and lowlights, and what conditioning treatments the salon offered. I scheduled an appointment for the following week and was amazed at the results! All of us blondes know how tricky it can be to get a healthy natural looking set of highlights. Nicole did a mixture of champagne and gold highlights with tea and subtle bronze lowlights. Having coarse hair she offered an affordable protein pack that left my locks silky. I even entrusted her to shape and wax my brows! This salon is top notch with lower prices than other high-end salons, I would suggest to anyone looking for a new salon to go on the website or stop into Primp for a visit!

But I think I'll be making appointments with Suzy for years to come. From the moment I walked in, I felt like family. The receptionist offered me a drink and engaged in conversation. Suzy was ready for me right away and... I'm not even joking... treated me like a long-time regular customer... on my first appointment. She talked me through options for my haircut and made sure to know exactly what I wanted... and nailed it!! Let's rewind for a second though... how does a walk-in guy find a salon owner across town... A BOBBLEHEAD on Facebook Marketplace. Suzy had listed a Sidney Crosby bobblehead for sale and as we tried to meet to exchange... asked if I could stop at her salon. I was in need of a haircut, so... here we are. Stories aside.
