Stylist did her hair but didn't put enough product in to hold the curls, despite my daughter being adamant that her hair doesn't hold curls well. Kimberly Duco cancelled my bridal appointments 2 weeks before my wedding to make room for other white race client whom she could accommodate more easily. I see Kimberly's comments to other clients on here, and know that she is lying based on the series of email communications and 1 phone conversation where she is an extremely poor communicator and has no interest in listening or providing services. In all of her communications, she blames everyone else for her series of mistakes, and is unapologetic. Kimberly should be in jail for her the way she behaves. EDIT in response to below: Would LOVE to see any 1 of her alleged "numerous times asking" that she is COMPLETELY FABRICATING, when the reality is that she completely ignored my multiple inquiries and made an appointment time for a trial without telling or asking me, on top of ZERO times asking. In response to another lie of her's, I am happy to show my email inquiry (not demand or necessary request) regarding an earlier appointment time, and her response to cancel rather than responding to the inquiry. And this is my first time hearing of the "required" trial, which she has mentioned zero times, does not list it anywhere on their website, nor is there a contract stating such a "requirement", nor was I informed in any capacity. One more thing she is COMPLETELY FABRICATING (on top of never reaching out, and taking weeks to respond to an inquiry about available times for a trial). And she canceled my regular appointment that had nothing to do with my bridal appointment, because she cared about serving other white clients more. I moved to PIT from South Florida in late 2021 and had to do research on salons in the region when I came across Undone PGH (formerly Classic PGH). The salon had stellar reviews and proof of their beautiful work on social media, so I took a shot and booked an initial appointment for extension consultation and hair cut/style with Kim. I had such a great experience and I truly felt like she understood what I wanted and was able to execute my vision perfectly. I trusted her work so much after that appointment, that I booked her to do my extensions for my wedding! I've been going to Undone PGH ever since and have had nothing but perfect outcomes with Kim and recently with Sami. I even recommend the salon to my mom who just recently moved to PIT as well and she now sees Cheyenne who is a true talent with color and cut/style! All the stylists are super kind, accommodating and knowledgeable, they actually take the time to listen to you and then recommend styles, solutions and products that work for your hair type. I would never return to this salon. I was treated so poorly and made to feel bad. I had a returning appointment to move my extensions up after 6 weeks. When I went in for my initial appointment I asked to be blonder, where I am a natural dirty blonde. I have been bleach blonde for as long as I can remember and have always had highlights and been blonde without any problems. After having my natural roots be longer than usual, it should have been quite easy to lift my natural hair to the desired blonde I wanted. Unfortunately, the OWNER, who was also my stylist told me to deal with it and she would deal with it at my next appointment in 6 weeks. I pointed it out and asked her to fix it and she then went on to blame me saying it's my own fault since the bleach couldn't lift whatever was stuck (?????) on my hair. That doesn't even make sense. She said it was all my makeup baked into my hair and would not take responsibility where she didn't leave the bleach on long enough. So I left with orange, yellow, and white hair. After dealing with this horrendous color on top of my head, I went to a local salon to me. I should also point out that I'm out of state to Classic Hair and would drive 2.5 hours to get my hair done. This is the one day I look forward to for myself as I am a stay at home mom to a 9 month old baby. I'm dealing with a lot and also have had post partum hair loss, which is why I have extensions right now. This stylist (the owner) knows this and when I went in for this follow up appointment, I have NEVER been treated so poorly, where I am sitting in the chair quietly sobbing. I went in and explained that I had cut my own bangs bc of my post partum hair loss and how I needed to get the color fixed. The stylist then blamed me for getting my hair fixed and that the other stylist fried my hair off and I let the other stylist do that to my hair. She never once apologized or validated my hair being an awful color when I left her initially. So after being blamed and insulted the first time, I started spiraling bc I hate the bangs I cut and I explained I just want to hide them and the stylist continued to mess with them which caused me to be overstimulated and I got pretty worked up, and she yelled at me throughout the entire salon and told me TO CALM DOWN. I have never been involved in such a scene before. She also insulted me by telling me "I clearly have OCD and need to relax". I was taken aback by the claim I suffer from a diagnosable medical condition. I was embarrassed from her making a scene to the whole salon and then insulting me. I then watched her in the mirror and she had this sour pucker face stuck on her face and was being so hostile and I told her I would not sit in her chair with the hostile environment she created. She denied being hostile but pointed out "why would I want to do your hair after being told I do everything wrong?" I explained she didn't do everything wrong I pointed out that I was unhappy with the color job she did and now she has triggered my anxiety and I felt uncomfortable and she gaslighted me and told me I was making it up. I only sat through this unbearable appointment bc I knew she would charge me half of my appointment cost. I had driven 2.5 hours to get my hair moved up but ended up being insulted, disrespected, and humiliated. I left in tears and would not ever recommend this salon to anyone. Disappointing customer service and an awful way to treat human beings in general. read more

I've been going to Classic since last Spring and have had nothing but incredible experiences. I am in a wheelchair and Cheyenne does a phenomenal job accommodating me. She works around my wheelchair and always takes the time after my cut to make sure my wheelchair is clean with no hair left on it. Also, when I asked if there was a way she could color my hair, as I wasn't sure if the sinks were accessible, she went above and beyond to make it work and give me a color I'm absolutely in love with. Everyone at Classic is extremely professional and the atmosphere there could not be any more welcoming. I found Tylersue at Classic Hair and Makeup via a referral and I'm so glad I did! The salon itself is so easy to book with online, easy to find due to the owner's detailed emails, reminders and simple check in process. My consult in the beginning with Tylersue went so smooth as she was detangling my hair so we could start the dry, Deva Cut. We agreed on a great plan for my hair since it had been just over 3 months since my last cut. (Average time.) She was very thorough and told me what she was doing every step of the way from the dry cut to the sink, styling, defusing and after care. She recommended a few products for my hair, especially one that would help with build up of products, which is crucial for the care of curly hair. It was a relaxing, fun appointment where I learned new things, techniques and found another amazing stylist that specializes in curly hair deva cuts! Went in to get my ends trimmed and some long layers and I loved it!!! My hair has never been shinier! Chloe did my hair and I loved her professionalism, first she saw my hair and asked me what I wanted, how I styled my hair, etc. She cut just the ends (not 3 or 4 inches, as some other stylist do sometimes!) and gave it a really nice style, then I got my blow dry and finished with curls, I got out the salon feeling beautiful. Normally I am a Sergio's regular. I've been there so many times that they know my name and that I never want the same style twice. Unfortunately last time I went, it was a new stylist because the other 2 or so have all left to pursue their own paths. The new stylist lacked creativity... so I thought I'd try something new. I heard about this new salon opening in the Southside where the girls knew their color - there was even "mermaid hair" on one of the girls working there! So I figured I'd try it. My stylist Kim accepted my "open to anything" challenge and - WOW! I feel like me again! An edgy cut with a stellar color of mahogany and red - 100% me. The new salon was pretty slick too - modern yet classic. There was an older woman there getting "just a trim" and me with my crazy color. Needless to say they can handle pretty much anything. I recently had a haircut/balayage at Classic as I wanted to do something a little different than the traditional highlights I've gotten for many years. This salon had great yelp reviews so I figured I couldn't go wrong. I had asked for an ash/beige blonde tone as my hair had become brassy/yellow from a box dye job I had done myself. The color turned out great and I was really happy with it. However, not even two weeks later, that great ash tone was gone and my hair looked brassy again despite the fact that I was maintaining it as directed (purple shampoo). So I called and spoke to the stylist who asked me to come in so she could look at it. I went in and she and another girl looked at it and basically said it was fine and that I should keep using the purple shampoo. She also said that I could come back and have a toner put in but I would have to pay for that plus a blow dry. I have continued to maintain it as directed but no change. The color is definitely way different and I am just very disappointed by the fact that I spent so much money and the color did not last long at all. I will not be back. read more

I decided to go to Classic because I was looking for a salon in Pittsburgh that was excellent with color. I was impressed with the pictures I saw and the reviews were great as well, so I figured I would give it a try. I was not disappointed! Kristi has taken excellent care of me each time I've gone. I had had balayage done previously and it was a little too light for me. She not only added to it, but toned it down to exactly where I wanted it to be. The color is gorgeous and makes me really happy. She even added some cute beach waves after blowing it out which made the color really look nice. I don't know why it has taken me so long to write a review for Classic Hair, but better late than never, I suppose! I was ecstatic when Classic opened in my neighborhood last summer because I was unhappy with the salon I was going to before yet looking for something convenient. Kim Duco and the other women at Classic are all amazing. I get a full highlight and color from Kim every 8 weeks and she does a fantastic job of matching what I want exactly. I always stay blonde, but I vary my shade seasonally or when I feel like it. She always hits the nail on the head with the color and cuts my hair just the way I like it--long layers, but still easily put into a ponytail. Classic uses high-quality Kenra products and I notice a big difference in my color--there is almost no fading whatsoever even at the 8 week mark. I have also seen Mary twice for special occasion blow outs and she has done a fantastic job. The salon itself is clean and well-appointed and the prices are extremely reasonable.s.Everyone working there is friendly and helpful towards everyone, even if you are not their client. I've never been to Classic hair and make-up before today. I go to my regular hair stylist 45 minutes south of the city but I couldn't get an appointment when I needed it, so after a quick yelp search I decided to give this place a try. I was really happy with the results. I had the girl with the purple hair (I forgot the name, sorry!). I really love the decor. For a cut and color I paid $105...which is more expensive than what I'm used to BUT I think the stylist did a great job...especially on the color. I also hate having a bunch of hair product in my hair, but my stylist used just the right amount. Bottom line, I loved my experience here (and that its 10 minutes from my house). I'm thinking about making this my new go-to salon although again...it's just a little pricier than my regular place. read more

I have gone to Classic Hair and Makeup twice and both times were amazing. The girls that worked with me were so nice and actually listened to what I wanted. I am such a crazy person when it comes to my hair and its length, and both times the girls made sure that I was comfortable with how much hair they were cutting off. The first time I went, Kim helped me with getting balayage done to my hair. Not only did they squeeze me in last minute before I left for a vacation, but Kim was so nice and took the time to listen to my concerns because I NEVER dye my hair. She also made sure to trim my hair to the length I wanted when it was still dry so that she didn't cut any more off after she washed it. She did an amazing job and it turned out exactly how I wanted it, the color looked so natural! The second time I went I got some long side swept bangs and some long layers. I was so nervous about getting bangs because I have such thin hair and so many cowlicks, I wasnt sure how it was going to turn out. Sami helped me this time and she was also super sweet. Again, she listened to how much I was attached to the length and didn't want a lot cut off. She also made sure that when she cut the bangs that she started long and saw how I liked them and kept going shorter from there until they were perfect. She showed me how to blow dry them so that I can style them how I like them once I get home too. They turned out amazing and I already have gotten so many compliments on them :) She also did my eyebrows and they look great too! These ladies are artists, and I am but their canvass. Before I was at a barber who was starting off with some clippers and trimming things up with a comb. But he gets into an argument, he's not even looking at me half the time. In the heat of this moment he starts shaving the sides and back of my head. I had a bald back of my head, had to rock being bald for a while, and got a free haircut. But anyway, these ladies all are excellent at what they do. Did not have a good experience. Kimberly was my stylist and just made a terrible impression. She acted very snobby and was not very welcoming. She didn't really listen to what I wanted. It seems as if the salon is more of a one trick pony-if you want long hair curled then please go here. If you want anything outside of this cookie-cutter hairstyle then please look elsewhere. Kimberly also had a sub-par assistant helping her apply color to one client and blow dry my hair. This young girl didn't even seem like she went to beauty school and they are having her apply color to people's hair! Scary! Oh also after all this-the front of my hair is uneven. The left side has a piece that is an inch longer than the right-BASICS OF HAIR CUTTING! Absolute basics. Cut sides evenly. I have a shorter style so it is very noticeable. She also didn't do any sort of style at the end. Just a blow dry. I had to ask for product to make my hair look finished. Would never go back to this salon! As a revision to my own review: the salon makes a lot of excuses. As I've now read through others reviews I know I'm not alone thinking the customer service is terrible here. They have a large sense of entitlement. Not to mention they make EXCUSES for their mistakes instead of taking accountability for them. I had the best experience at classics . Sami was amazing . I've gone back and forth on getting hair extensions for a long time and I followed her instagram account to watch her work . And I can't tell you how happy I am that I went to her . She answered all my questions . Understood just what I wanted . And did such an amazing job on my hair . I've never loved my hair as much as I do now. My color is perfect and no one can believe I have extensions. Her application of them was perfect . The prices were very reasonable and most importantly she listened to what I wanted and made it happen . The salon was beautiful and in a really nice location. I updated my review in September due to a bad balayage. I was unhappy with how it looked - it was much blonder than I had asked for, and I was also not told up front about the additional cost of toner that is not included in the cost of the balayage. I had budgeted a certain amount so the extra for the toner honestly really messed up my budget that month, and when I asked for clarification about the total, I was met with really strange tension and a short, unkind tone of voice from my stylist and the others in the salon at the time. I didn't make very much money at the time, so that amount (I forget if it was $15 or $25, somewhere along those lines) really made a huge difference for me, and the balayage was a big treat to me. So when the color wasn't what I asked for, I didn't feel comfortable enough saying anything because my clarification about the bill had been met with such weird tension, and it was so disappointing because I had spent such a large amount of money to treat myself. I posted this and an updated review in September, like I said, and the owner of the shop messaged me here on Yelp, scolding me for not giving them a chance to fix it and asking me to remove my negative review. Up to that point, I had been planning on returning to the salon because I did truly like it up to that point. However, a business owner not taking the time to put herself in my shoes and truly connect with me over a really disappointing experience turned me off to this salon forever. I deleted my review at the time because she made me feel so crappy, but I am reposting it now because I've found another salon I like so much more. This place is great if you are a young, skinny, stereotypically pretty girl. (Just look at who they serve on their Instagram. It's clear the brand of customers they care about.) It's great if you don't care if they get your color or cut a little off. I'm not deleting this review, so I will kindly ask the owners of this salon to not message me further regarding it. The stylists are cheery and friendly, and the place has a nice vibe. It might not be the best place for a deva cut though. They made my hair lopsided -- the left side was much longer than the right, and there were several chunks of hair that the stylist didn't cut at all -- something that wasn't apparent until after I showered, probably because the stylist gummed up my curls with lots of product. It wasn't a downright horrible experience, but I regret spending my money there and I won't be back. read more
