Nothing picks me up like a visit to Drybar! I have an autoimmune condition that gives me really thin hair, and sometimes I can see straight through in parts. When I look at myself in pictures, my hair is the first thing I zero in on and it can make me feel less than great about myself. So, if I know I'm going somewhere where I'm going to be in photos, I like to book an appointment here. It's so worth it to leave it to the experts and know you are going to be consistently happy with the results! The stylists are always receptive to your vision of what you're looking to achieve, and if you don't entirely know, there is a lookbook to guide you. I'm usually looking for lots of body and curls, and they pull out their shiny yellow blow dryer, brush and/or curling iron and make it happen. They are also receptive to how much product you do or do not want in your hair. Drybar has recently introduced a new, less expensive service than their signature blowout. The blowout is always fantastic and luxurious, but you can also get a 30-minute dry styling service for just $35 which, if you are starting out with clean, dry hair, can produce very similar results at a little less than half the cost and time. This service has made me go more often and for lesser events than I might otherwise. The vibe here is clean, colorful and fun. I love the bright white and yellow aesthetic and the wonderful scent of all the products. You can have your choice of beverage along with your service, such as a mimosa, wine, or tea, although I have noticed the past couple of times that this only happens if I specifically ask for it. Perhaps a lot of folks are wasting the drinks? Gift certificates here have become one of my favorite things to give, as I love introducing people to the experience. Those at the front (unsure of pronouns) were so patient when I asked questions & when I wanted to switch from a blowout+braid to an uptini. **They also let me use their pen & write out my wedding card while I waited. They offered a drink even though I had a drink in my hand already. Very nice & thoughtful! **Hannah D. was AMAZING as my hair stylist. She was so nice and the right amount of talkative. Additionally, she gave great directions for my hair and my Dutch braid was just tight enough but didn't give me a migraine. Unfortunately I have been to drybars several times and never had a fantastic blowout but today solidifies that I'll never go back. I have a significant gift card so scheduled an apointment at 9:00, timed precisely prior to leaving for a travel wedding weekend. I mistakenly ran a few minutes behind, not anticipating school bus traffic. I received a call at 9:07 from the salon; I apologized and shared that I would be right in, i was finally there and at the light. They told me they have a 9 minute late cancellation policy. I pulled right into the first spot and walked in the door at 9:09 to see SEVERAL (I think 5) girls at the desk, ONE customer in a chair and NO ONE else in the salon. They asked my name (as if they didn't know - we just spoke 2 minutes prior)... they looked at the computer and said they couldn't take me because it was after the 9 minute period, now 9:10!!! Fortunately on my 20 minute drive back home I passed Stephen Szabo, who had someone available to take me. It took all of 30 minutes for a blowout and style that is far better than any I have gotten at drybar. I guess they don't want or need the business. read more

My experience at Drybar was amazing! My stylist, Hannah was so sweet and an absolute joy to be around. The salon is bright, and modern.. Super clean as well! I had the best shampoo of my life.. I would pay just for that! You are given a "menu" to choose your preferred style as well. I was here for a Yelp Elite event, so I don't think the cupcakes are always included but I did hear that champagne is complementary! I really wanted to love this! I would give it a 3.5 if I could. I got my first blowout here this past weekend. I asked for the"cosmo-tai", but ended up with just big curls more like the cosmo hairstyle. My hair is naturally somewhat wavy/curly, so the whole experience took an hour. The girl who did my hair was super nice, and I LOVED the shampoo part. Very relaxing! But overall my hair was just okay, and I felt like it looked like how it does when I do it. It did last very long, which is a plus. I wish the location was closer to the north hills, which makes it less likely for me to go there often in the future. Overall if you're considering it definitely give it a try, but I will probably just go to my local salon for a blowout for the same price and arguably better results next time. read more

Drybar is one of the latest "fads" in hairstying. Their basic premise is to wash and style your hair with your choice of a limited selection of styles available through their "lookbook." They do not cut, color, or perform any other services you would find at a regular hairsalon. They have their own line of products that they use. All information can be found either online or when you visit. This place is not for everyone. When I went to visit them I spent a lengthy time inquiring about their services and to determine if they would be a good "fit" for the style I was looking for. I chose a basic bob style which was not in their lookbook and asked if it could be done. The staff was polite to answer my questions and told me they could do it but with my hair length it would need to be shorter. Remember they don't cut hair. I explained to them the number one importance to me regarding hair is its health and although my sides are thinning, the back of the hair had some body to it. In addition my hair is color treated and I was concerned about their products possibly stripping the color in addition to the fact it is damaged to begin with. They told me their products were safe for my hair, however, when I researched their line on the web, i saw nothing that addressed my concerns. Please note their products are pricey along with their styling tools. I also asked how long one of their styles would last? I was told up to a week as long as I don't wash my hair. If you like to wash your hair on a regular basis then this place is not for you. I also asked if I had my hair styled and if the outside elements were bad would the style hold? I was told there's no guarantee. Once you step out their doors, if it is windy, raining, you name it, your hair is going to suffer as a result. They were kind enough to suggest I set up an apt with the manager who would personally do my hair. The cost as previously noted is $45.00 plus tip plus if you decide you want to go all out and add extras like an updo. They had told me most women come here for special occasions. The entire process I was told takes 45 minutes. If I got the manager to do it she would talk with me for 2 minutes and take it from there. You either schedule an apt or walk in if available. They also have a membership program if you wish to use them on a regular basis. I can't see that for myself. My hair grows and needs cut and colored treated every so often so this place is not something I would do regularly. They gave me their card with their hours and I thanked them and told them I would be in touch if I wanted something done. After I left I did some research and the truth of the matter is that there are some places you can go where you can get the same thing done in a full service salon for less money. Every place varies of course but when one is happy with her own hairdresser who knows all about my hair why should I go elsewhere? If I have that special occasion then I can discuss with her what would look good and decide whether or not an up do is really needed. I'm also not limited to 45 minutes. Sure, she has other apts but like most beauty parlors she works them in without shortening the time needed to complete her work on my hair. She herself has told me that in spite of breakage in the front, my hair is healthy. That's the bottom line. The place is very clean and well organized. I did not venture past the front desk since I finally decided not to make an apt. This concept is becoming more popular with the modern generation since it is a fast way to get in and get out. There are other businesses in the Pittsburgh which do the same thing. Still for me I must stress that healthy hair is most important to me. The only time I can ever see myself using these services would be if I was not able to get to my stylist or am out of town and needed something done with my hair fairly quickly. It's a lot of money to spend with a limited selection of styles. it is beneficial if you have longer hair and you are one who likes to go without washing your hair for several days. My first time at a Drybar salon! Arrived a few minutes early and was offered a glass of champagne while I waited. The salon is bright and airy, with hints of bright yellow. I was greeted by my stylist and we walked back to her station. We discussed the look I was going for, and a little bit about my hair so she could decide the best way to style it for maximum hold. They have a lookbook of various styles the offer, I opted for the Cosmo, a loosely curled look. I mentioned that I was going to a wedding later that afternoon, so I wanted to ensure that the curls stayed put. After that, I was shampooed and the blowout commenced. I really liked all of the products they used, I will probably be back for some of their dry shampoo! Since I was there right before Christmas, they had tons of gift sets which would make fabulous presents for anyone interested in hair, or just being glam in general. My only complaint is that my hair didn't really come out like the picture I selected. My curls were much tighter than the picture, and they REALLY stayed put. Soon, I was introduced to my stylist, Jen B., who took great care of me. She washed my hair and massages my scalp which was a treat in itself. She then showed me the menu and I decided on the cosmo (loose curls). My hair turned out GREAT! Jen B. and the entire staff at Drybar pittsburgh were all so nice, professional, and also informational. They educated me on how to make my blowout last to its longest potential and recommended getting a silk pillow case because not only it is a lot healthier on your hair, but also your skin on the face. I will definitely be back to the bar! This was by far the cleanest hair salon I have ever been to and I can see why people think it's addicting. Not sure I would pay $45 on the regular for a blow out, however, it's great for a night out, before vacation, an event, or just to treat yourself. Loved Drybar! Went here a week ago as a treat post marathon. I NEVER do my hair. It was so nice to have someone wash and blow dry my hair. My stylist was Alissa. She had me choose out of book for a style. Since really had no idea I just had her pick and she did a combo of the cosmo and mai tai. The blow dry itself was super relaxing and I almost fell asleep. The first time I went I had an amazing time and that is the reason I wanted to return, but sadly I will stick to my regular salon. This was my first time ever coming to Drybar or even knowing what a blowout was, haha! I was so excited to have a fun evening of champagne, cupcakes, and a new hairstyle. When you first walk in it smells amazing and everyone was super friendly. The hair washing station was comfortable than most salons I'm used to and it was super relaxing. I wasn't sure what style of blowout to use, but since I straighten my hair everyday, I figured I would go with some loose curls. There's an entire booklet for you to look at styles to chooThey have TVs right in front of you and you can sit back and watch a movie. Blowouts are $45 which isn't bad if you want to look nice before an event or have your hair styles for a wedding party, etc. The products make your hair smell great and they really do work well. I booked a noon appointment on 7/6 for my sister's wedding and by 1:55pm (not even 45 minutes after leaving the salon) my hair was straight (see picture). When a salon describes their blowouts as lasting "3-5 days," you expect your style To last AT LEAST until the champagne toast that evening. Unfortunately, I was forced to redo my hair as soon as I got back to my hotel. I was very clear that I wanted my hair to last until late in the evening and to use "as much product as necessary." The stylist seemed frustrated when I asked her to add in extra volume to ensure that the style would look good later in the day. This was my first and last Drybar appointment. I have never had such a negative experience at a salon. UPDATE: I'm going on 6 weeks with no response from the manager, Meg Dillon. Total radio silence. To care so little about your clients is sad. The second visit I went smooth and straight, loved it too. They always ask if you're happy before you get up out of the chair, so if you leave unhappy it is your own fault, speak up! I was blessed with an amazing head of hair, but no talent to take care of it. haha so this place is a DREAM COME TRUE!!! I love the online scheduling option, such a breeze for a busy lady like me! I showed up a little early, but was still taken pretty quickly. I paid extra for the massage during the wash, but I probably won't do that again unless I know the person doing my hair. My girl did a great job on styling my hair, but her massage definitely wasn't worth the extra $10 that I spent. I visited this location on June 8, 2019. I emailed their customer service on the 9th, with a follow up on the 28th to see if they received my email. Neither email received a response from customer service. My visit on June 8t, 2019: Let me start by saying the front desk ladies were so nice and friendly. My stylist took some time to warm up, but once she started talking everything was fine! The only negative thing I would say about the outcome of my blow out is my stylist forgot to use heat protection when waving my hair for my Mai Tai, so my hair smelled like fire and I had to wash my hair that night. However, my main issue wasn't even with the typical Drybar experience, but rather an event that happened while at my appointment. After my hair was washed and I was sitting back in the chair to get my blowout, the fire alarm went off. Ok, no problem - we were reassured everything was fine. There is apparently a lot of construction going on in the place beside the shop, and the sawdust makes the alarm go off. I was told this happens just about every day but it turns off quickly. The alarm was on for the entire duration of my blowout. Now, I know this isn't the fault of Drybar, staff, or stylists, but I left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed in my visit because of this. I went to Drybar to treat myself and relax, but I left more on edge than when I first arrived. My ears rang the rest of the day, and I unfortunately didn't enjoy my time there like I expected and hoped. No one was apologetic, and that's probably because they're used to it - but their clients are not. I had the opportunity to visit Drybar this week. Drybar doesn't cut or color hair. It's mainly for blow outs but they also do some up do's and braiding. The salon is very inviting. When you walk in you just do a happy sigh and your body relaxes because you know that you are about to get pampered. After checking in I was offered a glass of champagne. Yes, please! They only serve one glass but if you are there with a wedding party or birthday party you and BYOB. The salon has thought out to the most minute detail. It is 90% white with pops of bright yellow. Their is an very cool light fixture when you walk in that is made up of blow dryers. All of the styling tools are gray and yellow. Even the brushes are gray and yellow. I met my stylist and she took me back to her chair. She explained their services to me and gave me a "Look Book" to choose a style. The "Look Book" has about 10 or styles to choose from. I asked the stylist, Diana, to choose for me. She picked the "Mai Tai". It is soft loose curls also known as a beachy wave. Then she took me back to be shampooed. It was super relaxing. Then we headed back to the chair and she began to blow dry my hair. I asked a lot of questions because I was unfamiliar with Drybar. I learned that they are a national chain. The stylists go to a special Drybar "school" where they learn each look in the Look Book. They all have to do them exactly the same. So if you like getting blow outs at Drybar but are traveling, you can search for one near you and know that you will be getting the exact same style as you do at your Drybar at home. Drybar makes and carries their own hair products. My stylist explained each product as she used it. The hairspray used at the end was light but smelled great. One of the things I find interesting is that during the consultation you are facing a mirror but while they create your style you are turned away from the mirror. Then, at the end, it's like a big reveal. My stylist did a fantastic job on my hair. I was extremely pleased. Why go to a salon if you are not having your hair cut or colored? To treat yourself!! If you are headed to a wedding, or a special night out, or even just having a blah day and need a little pick me up. A good blow out can last a couple of days. I really like the concept of Drybar and had a great experience here! They open early and I made an appointment for 9am. I was leaving for Vegas and wanted to have my hair washed and straightened so I wouldn't have to deal with it over the weekend. Let me just say my hair stayed straight (and my half French braid stayed in tact) all weekend! My hair stylist, Dana, used the best purple shampoo on me! My hair was brassy when I arrived but so blonde and fresh when I left. She also listened to all my request not to put any heavy product in my hair. I received a complimentary mimosa & watched a chick flick while having my hair done. How fun! Do not leave without grabbing their dry shampoo. I have tried so many and theirs is hands down THE BEST! All together my blowout and braid was $55 which I think is great for how well it stayed and how great it looked! I came 15 mins early (I'm an esthetician, so I understand the importance of being "on-time") and my stylist took me back early . The girl who did my hair was very nice, but she didn't initiate much conversation. She washed my hair with this delicious smelling mint shampoo and massaged my head for a good five minutes. So I had high expectations for my visit here, maybe too high. The salon was extremely clean and nicely decorated, and the reception staff was friendly. It started with a free beverage which was a positive perk. But the reason I was disappointed with my experience was that my hair wasn't done very nicely and my stylist only talked to me about products which she was obviously just trying to sell me. Now I know most salons are encouraged to sell products which is fine, most people who regular salons are used to that. But that is literally all she talked about on top of how knotty my hair was, which just made me uncomfortable. My hair is processed which is why I requested the Bay Breeze, which I'm still not sure what that is because she never told me when she was doing it. I chose to do the Cosmo to get some curls because I usually only straighten myself. The only products she put in my hair was hair spray and a lot of dry conditioner, which again she just talked the entire time about this product and why I needed to buy it. My appointment was at 6 pm. My hair was matted by the time I got home and my curls were undone by morning. It could be that because my hair is processed it didn't take well, but my regular stylist always curls my hair and it lasts at least two days after my appointment, and I usually don't have to wash my hair again for a week. I also bought the dry conditioner because she pushed it so much, and it seems like a fine product for extending a wash but it is not for styling. I guess I just heard such great things about Drybar that I was hoping my style would be amazing and last more then one night. I would like to try it again but would like to hear from others about maybe their positive experience or if I need to request something different? Very fun experience! All the staff was helpful and friendly. I've never had anything like this before done and they explained the process. Each style takes about an hour from start to finish including hair wash. I would say it's more for an important occasion or wedding though. They used a handful of products that worked well but had to use clarifying shampoo for the next 3 days or so to get everything out. I love having a Drybar in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. I initially found a deal on Groupon for $10 off back in the winter and have been going periodically for a blowout and some curls/waves. I have extremely naturally curly hair, so it's nice that some of the girls can really relate to that when blowing out my hair and curling it. I found if I put a note when I book my appointment online (so easy btw!) that the manager does her best to put me with a specific stylist per my request. She even went as far as one time calling me after hours for my appointment the next day to switch my appointment time so I could have a specific stylist! The parking is free; it's easy to get to and everyone I've encountered at Drybar is very friendly. It's nice to have an hour of pampering with a hair wash/blow out/style while sipping on a mimosa while watching "Mean Girls" with some great tunes playing in the background. TIP: Be aware that weekends (especially Saturday's) are usually the busiest day so be flexible with your appointment starting a few minutes late and maybe going over an hour. read more

This is an average rating. My stylist was amazing (I give her a 5) however the overall service was subpar (1 Star). I made an appointment months ago. I was a half hour late getting in and felt rushed to get out on time to make my other appointment. Stylists should be kept in time considering it is wedding season and people need to be places. read more

This review has been pending since August. My 10 year old niece and I came in for blowouts as part of our back to school spa day. I'd like to start by saying that I did almost like my blowout! My stylist did a nice job styling my hair but in the 2 visits I have made here now, no one knows how to blow dry bangs. My shampoo was pretty weak and my hair looked greasy in the back crown area in only 2 days (for reference I usually only wash my hair twice a week and my scalp is well acclimated to that schedule). I'm not sure if it was a too-much-product situation or if my "mudslide" conditioning mask was applied too close to the scalp. I noticed that the stylist working on my niece barely consulted with her and didn't do much to tame the halo of frizz left at the end of her service. I know she's a young girl but she certainly should be treated like a person with opinions about her hair. It's also worth noting that my 10 year old niece was seated directly in front of a television screening the film Easy A with the closed captioning on and she got quite an education from it. Dry Bar products have a very strong perfume that lingers for quite some time. Reception staff was very friendly and accommodating. Honestly I'll probably try it one more time and try to be super clear about what I want and maybe even give the girls some tips about how to blow bangs dry. read more

My daughter was so excited to have her hair done for senior pictures and was told by the stylist and I talked with front receptionist that the hair style would last from the products they used while styling. She left happy with the outcome, BUT within one hour of her appointment her curls had all fallen out. Very disappointed to have her pay for a service and she had to redo her hair for her senior pictures. read more

I've been here over a dozen times and I love it here. I drive 45 minutes to this location and every stylist I've had was extremely nice and took their time on my hair. I have super curly hair that's frizzy when you round brush it, but they make my hair so manageable and frizz free. I seriously have no complaints. Everyone at the front desk is very friendly and the salon is very clean. I don't understand the rude reviews. It's definitely worth coming here. read more
