That's a HUGE PROBLEM and a NO-NO!!!! She's always been good to me and my girls and always done a terrific job on our hair...and we have a lot of hair! I would recommend a price chart where customers can see exactly what they will pay. I do believe that She kind of guesses a little with her prices. It's important to be consistent with pricing so customers can trust you. As far as lazy workers...I've never seen a lazy person working in her shop so I don't know. The woman who washes hair is quick to call you in preparation for a wash, blow dry or to get you ready for Josephine. I think that the salon and the workers are terrific.

Nadia was super hospitable, informative and efficient throughout the entire process--I came in for a wash/press/style. I love the fact that Nadia examined my hair before starting the first step. Upon examining my hair, she determined to use a particular shampoo/conditioner for my hair needs. Without a doubt this was the best shampoo experience that I've received in a very long time. You could tell how attentive and much care she puts into caring for her clients--simply from the shampoo process. After the awesome deep conditioning process, we went to her chair and proceeded with a blowout. From past experiences I've never cared for this  step in the process until Nadia. She put one of her leave in products in my hair, that also acts as detangler; at which pointed she began to blow out my hair. It was amazing to see how much care she put into each and every section. Afterward she flat ironed my hair, and styled it flawlessly with a curling iron--in a way that I've never seen before. The time went by so fast, soley because of how interactive and polite she was. Nadia was able to answer all of my hair care questions, as well as get me excited about my future hair goals. I think that I've found one of the best stylists in the city. Nadia Thank You so Much !

Full disclosure: Nadia never did my hair; I saw Nika, who did a good job. My issue isn't the…read morequality of her work--it's the price. I was quoted $145 for a silk press and $65 for a trim, yet somehow the final bill landed around $300--both times. And we're talking about a natural girl here. The moment I step outside, my hair is already negotiating with every molecule of humidity in the atmosphere. A silk press has a limited life expectancy; I cannot justify treating one like a financial investment. On my second visit, an unfriendly assistant also decided my appointment came with an unsolicited supporting role in her TikTok content, filming the blow-drying process without first asking my consent. Ultimately, the value simply isn't there. A $300 silk press that looks like every other competent silk press I've had does not suddenly become haute couture because it happened in SoHo. What exactly is the premium for--the zip code? Proximity to designer boutiques? Nika did a nice job, but "nice" does not make a basic silk press worth $300. At these prices, I expected my hair to reject humidity and remain silky until further notice. It did neither. The math simply does not math.

I walked in on a Monday afternoon and it was nearly empty. I was one of three customers in this really large, clean salon. I was a bundle of nerves because I'm a "nappy head" who has been completely natural for over 2 years, in need of a relaxer. Most Dominican salons hate to deal with my kinky, thick hair. Almost forgot...I called the day before to ask if they had a beautician who could tackle my tangles. I was told that there was and that I could just walk in. I was charged over one hundred dollars to fry my hair, blow dry it and clip the ends. I didn't get a roller set or an actual style, so I felt like that price was pretty steep. The woman who took care of me was patient and as gentle with my hair as she could be. At the end of my hair services, my hair was soft, bouncy and all there. That really meant a lot to me. I have experienced my hair falling out in clumps during the relaxer process. Overall, Yahi wasn't a bad experience. I felt cute with my hair blowing in the wind. I do wish that the prices were lower. I'll probably go back.
