"Quickly growing tired of constantly switching back n' forth between the same two restaurants for lunch everyday, our hero, The Analytical Menace, decided to bravely venture where few others in his establishment have ventured before: a quaint and ostensibly prosaic little diner just mere minutes away from his chosen occupation." Alright. I'm gonna stop narrating in the third person like a complete dork now and....tell you all how this quiet little diner earned a soft special place in my heart. So, I started things off with a tall, sparkling orange Mimosa. Why? Because I thought to myself, "Self, even though it's 11:54 in the morning and you're technically only on your lunchbreak, YOU, hard workin'....you deserve a drink. Or two. Let's go!" Anywho, I went with my all time favorite breakfast, the corned beef hash n' eggs, of course. Except....this one was a bit different. First, lemme just say that everything overall was pretty tasty. I especially liked the greasy spoon diner touch to the whole thing. Mostly. See, it's the texture of the hash itself that I didn't care for. Sure, it tasted just fine, flavor wise. But ya see, well....I prefer mine to be a bit more....minced. Like, this stuff WAS minced, to an extent. At least the whole thing didn't come out like a brisket (some restaurants actually do this). Look, it's obvious Minuteman Diner makes their hash from scratch, which is admirable. Now, at the risk of being metaphorically tossed out the window and losing my "Elite" card for being a total weirdo, I'm just gonna say it: I prefer canned corned beef hash. That's right, folks. Grab your pitchforks and torches, off with his head, blah blah blah. Menace likes the canned stuff. BUT....it's how you prepare it that makes all the difference. For example, while the Brooklyn Bagel House in Derry clearly uses canned hash, they pan sear it without burning or robbing it of its natural flavor, thus creating the perfect texture. It's tough to explain to people who don't really eat hash that much. But I didn't like this one nearly as much as the hash at BBH. So ultimately, the dish gets a 7 out of 10. Also, the bagels could have been toasted more and the cream cheese was somehow slightly bland. But, I digress. Luckily though, I shall return. When I do, I'd like to try (of course) one of their omelets. A caveat to the newcomers: this place is literally a greasy spoon diner. I mean, this place is like.....when Waffle House meets MaryAnn's (y'all don't know!). Today, Minuteman Diner receives 4 yummy breakfast platters marinating in their own greasy goodness out of 5.

Went for breakfast. Server was sweet and attentive. Lots of younger folk working hard ! Food was solid breakfast fare -albeit smaller portions than I expected (except for the ginormous pancakes!) for the sides but we filled our bellies!! We sat inside. They have outdoor seating but it was too windy for us to eat outside. Close and local.

Update 3/2024 - I stopped in for lunch on Sunday. The restaurant was cold inside- Wear your jacket to eat lunch cold. We sat at the last open table... and waited. And waited. Eventually we ordered drinks and food. I ordered an Irish Benny with home fries. The Corned Beef as usual was great. The English muffin was also fantastic. The home fries were barely warm. I waited for a while for our server to check with us so I could ask for warm home fries... but no one came. Eventually another person came over to get me a drink refill. We asked for the check and left. When you walk in, there is a sign saying that menu prices may fluctuate given market conditions. Makes sense. Then when you sit down, there is a tiny line on the menu that there is a "3% Kitchen appreciation fee is added to all checks. Thank you for your support!" So a fee for cold home fries? ... it is not an option. Nice touch to soak us for more $$. I appreciate the little line entry on the menu to cover yourselves. Sorry Minuteman Diner, you lost me. There are better places that have heat, decent service, and hot food. My advice - move on. Places that nickel and dime with secret "fees" and signs to make it clear that prices are fluid are not worth your visit/money. Find an honest business.

    Tina W.

The mandatory "kitchen appreciation fee" is ridiculous. I would have appreciated the kitchen a whole lot more if my eggs weren't over cooked and if my toast wasn't burnt. That, along with an overpriced side of bacon means I won't be coming back anytime soon.

I've been here for both of my sisters' graduation brunches, and we always leave happy. It's become one of our favorite spots for a celebratory brunch. For drinks, I tried their new Vanilla Bean Matcha Latte with oat milk. It was a bit thicker than I expected--possibly because of the oat milk. I can definitely see some people loving that texture, but for me it was just okay. That said, it was still a good drink, and the hint of vanilla came through nicely without overpowering the matcha. For food, we ordered a variety of dishes for the table. 1. The chicken and waffles had so much flavor, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly--not too runny, but still soft, gooey, and delicious. The chicken was a little soggy, but it made up for it by being incredibly tender. 2. The blueberry pancake was fantastic. Their pancake portions are huge, so this time we only ordered one to share. It was delicious, though definitely on the heavier side. 3. The house burger was easily the standout dish of the meal and might be my favorite item on the menu. It's simple and classic, but packed with flavor. 4. The chicken burger, on the other hand, was disappointing. The chicken was quite dry, and I probably wouldn't order it again. I think something like pickled onions or another acidic topping could help bring some balance and moisture to the sandwich. 5. We also tried the omelet, which was very good, especially with the goat cheese. What really made the experience special was that the staff noticed we were celebrating a graduation and surprised us with complimentary donuts. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a lovely way to end the meal.

It's colorful, it's groovy, it's bright, it's nostalgic. Even the employees are wearing shirts with funky themes and patterns. There are TVs showing shows from back then. The floors are checkered, the ceiling is silver, the chairs are red and the tables are blue. We were seated at a booth, which can more than comfortably sit 4-6 people. The menu is HUGE, think cheesecake factory but for a diner. There's a little bit of everything but the font and everything around it makes it hard to focus on what each item is. I went very simple and chose the Simon and Garfunkel which included two pancakes or French toast, two eggs, two bacon, two sausage, toast, and home fries for $18.99. After about 15 minutes, our food came out. The bacon could have been crispier, with some parts being wobbly. The sausage was thick, juicy, and savory. The potatoes were a little bland and mushy on the outside. The eggs were cooked medium, just how I requested them, and the englush muffin was a little different than your traditional ones since it didn't have the little pockets of air but it was still good. The French toast was moist, but I wish it had more cinnamon - the egg was the dominant flavor. Overall, it was a very satisfying breakfast. There is plenty of parking as it's in a plaza

The corned beef is large chunks, not small diced pieces found in most commercial and canned hash. The potatoes, peppers, and onions gave a nice texture and flavor. As I was eyeing the French toast, he gave me a single piece which included their fruit infused whipped cream and was really, really good! That might be my entree next time. My friend got the crepes and her face was doing happy expressions while she was eating. My new best friend Maria kept my coffee mug full-she visited the table frequently to make sure my mug never got low nor cold. She also took care to clean the table promptly as plates were finished. Now if my kids could learn that... oh wait, this is a diner review. The ambiance is cute and chic. There was easy access to accommodate wheel chairs and they have their menu clearly marked for gluten free available and vegan options (most of the menu). The menu is on the fancier side; they will prepare whatever someone wants (e.g. if someone just wants 2 eggs and bacon, they can easily do that). The location is on Main St. so parking is hit or miss. If you are nearby and want something good, this is a good option!

The green cameos on the front halls wallpaper were fuzzy!! The bathrooms were also a freaking delight. Great wall paper everywhere. The dining room was very beautiful with high back chairs and a fire place. They also offered dining on the porch which was really beautiful too - the inn is not secluded by any means, but there wasn't an overbearing amount of traffic, so the porch would probably be lovely. We ate inside though. My husband tried to go light and healthy with claim chowder and the seasonal vegetable. He also got an espresso. I just went ahead and got the burger with the salad. The burger came with homemade pickles which were pretty tasty. The salad had green tomatoes which were very interesting. All around I had a great meal. They also have an excellent selection of cocktails. I had a hard time choosing. but I ended up with the Rose Gold which featured some awesome rose gin. I love anything that tastes floral and this made me super happy. Also, plus points for the paper straw! Our waitress was also excellent and had a really warm persona. Town Meeting Bistro is a beautiful space in lovely historic Lexington. This brunch had three seatings. We arrived a few minutes early for the second seating (at 12) to a long line and a 20 minute wait to be seated. Our table was lovely. The brunch included a buffet appetizer/dessert component and a plated entrée from their menu. The buffet portion was extremely disappointing, they advertised a decadent spread, including oysters, etc., but it was a very modest assortment of things (no oysters, a bowl of cocktail shrimp that was empty most of the time). I waited 10 minutes for them to refill empty bagel baskets (and asked a server) before giving up. The desserts were not impressive, fruit bowl was smaller than what I serve at family gatherings. But most notably, there was a constant very long line at the buffet and most items were continuously empty (even buffet plates were unavailable twice). There was no children's menu despite it obviously being an event that catered to families with children. There was an advertised bouquet activity for children, but by the second seating, the flowers were very picked over and the bouquet apparently only allowed for "three stems". Brunch did come with a mimosa, which was nice, but service was very slow (no fault of the server, just the chaotic and presumably understaffed set up). There were issues with two of the dishes that we ordered (one was the wrong omelette, another was the wrong dish altogether). None of this would have been bad review worthy, except that the price per person was $130! For that I expected much better quality, variety, set up and overall experience. They did acknowledge the mistakes with the entrées and comped a cocktail so I appreciated that, but definitely will not return (and am embarrassed that I was the one who picked this option for this special family event as no one left feeling good about it).

The only thing I'll say and why I took a star off is because there is always a long wait time to get seated at the friendly toast. I know when we came it was a holiday but I have found that there is always a long wait time here. We walked into a comfortable space with a relaxed vibe that never feels generic, the kind of spot where you can settle in for a meal or grab something quickly without the atmosphere working against you. The Vietnamese bowl is the order that brings everything together well. We tried it and the flavors were bright and balanced, leaning into the fresh herb and citrus notes that make Vietnamese inspired food work when the kitchen takes it seriously. The bowl format here gives you enough going on across the components that each bite shifts slightly, which kept the meal interesting from start to finish in a way that a simpler dish would not. The broader menu is worth exploring beyond a single visit. The shakshuka and acai bowl are both good, the smash burger salad is a surprisingly strong order for anyone who wants something more indulgent, and the vegan options are extensive and genuinely well executed rather than feeling like an afterthought. The smoothies are popular for good reason and the coffee holds up as well. Pricing runs on the higher side and the menu does not always list prices upfront on site, which is worth being aware of before you commit to a larger order. Service is generally attentive and fast, though it can vary by location and shift.
