I don't appreciate my time being dismissed, especially without communication. But to address care quality once seated in a room, was fine. The staff in that regard was attentive and quick.

While I was impressed by the professionalism and kindness of everyone I interacted with, I unfortunately received an incorrect initial diagnosis. I came in for an x-ray of my pinky finger and was initially told that there were no breaks or fractures. However, I later received a call from PA Ben confirming that a hairline fracture was detected after further review by the radiologist. I understand that medical errors can happen, but I believe it would have been beneficial to wait for the radiologist's report before providing a definitive diagnosis. Additionally, knowing about the hairline fracture, I would have appreciated the opportunity to have my finger wrapped as a precautionary measure. Despite this, I want to commend the staff for their overall care and attention. I hope this feedback can be used to improve future patient experiences. Thank you for your time and consideration." Instead of addressing the problem, I was met with an argumentative tone and told they "see 800 patients a day," as if that excuses poor communication. We're talking about a $130 bill--yet instead of clearly communicating with patients, their process appears to push accounts toward collections. That's not a one-off mistake. That's a broken system. FYI: they'll bill your insurance if you have and if not you pay at the pharmacy. It's a good alternative if you have something small to treat.

I have been here several times and truthfully, the wait times are unacceptable even for walk in patients like myself. Prepare yourself to wait a minimum of 2 hours (on a good day). It seems as though only 1 patient is seen every hour (and that is when things are moving quickly). I don't intend to be harsh, but I really have no idea why it takes this long and don't believe I am out out of line in saying there is simply no reason for these wait times.

There is an online system where you can get an appointment and maybe I've lucked out, but you can get them usually within the hour. We've been here a few times for minor issues (potential ear infections, pink eye, etc) for both of our kids. The doctors and MAs have always been nice and helpful. Yes, there is sometimes a wait but I can assure you it's much shorter than and more affordable than going to the ER. That being said, if our kids had a major need (major bleeding, broken something, etc) I would always recommend an ER especially if it's a very time sensitive issue. The decor is bright and cheery and they do a great job keeping things clean and tidy. I would definitely come back here as needed!

I thought I would feel rushed in the exam room, but not at all. The most pleasant surprise is that Dr. Malta and his assistant are a good team and always help each other out. At every other practice I've been to, the doc leaves all of the admin work to the assistant. I've seen Dr. Malta answer the phones, run credit cards, call health insurance companies, and work the front desk. And he has National Geographic in the waiting room. Oh yeah, he specializes in travel medicine which is great for me as I'm always off to Guatemala, or Brazil, or Africa.

This is a warning to anyone who may have a surgery or procedure at Riva Road Surgical Center. If…read moresomething goes awry, do not expect for them to do the right thing or take responsibility. I understand that Riva Road Surgical Center was acquired by a corporation this past year (United Surgical Partners International - USPI). I had surgery recently and it was a much different experience than I had experienced there previously over the last few years. This particular surgery included being assigned anesthesiologist Peter Craig who completely ignored my drug sensitivities and my wishes. Although my medical records clearly stated that I had serious adverse reactions to a particular drug including previous allergic reaction to that drug - and I specifically told him not to administer that drug to me - he did anyway, and then lied to me. There were other issues with him, but these are the most egregious. I had both a significant adverse reaction, as expected, and clear sensitivity/allergic reaction to that and other drugs. I reported this very timely to Riva Road Surgical Center and after "review" their response, in part, about Peter Craig's actions was as follows: "No medication error occurred during your procedure. Dr. Craig made a professional medical decision to administer [the drug] as part of your surgical plan.. We regret that you experienced strong and uncomfortable side effects post-operatively....We respect your wish to avoid such side effects in the future and your request will remain part of the medical record." The future? IT WAS ALREADY DOCUMENTED IN MY MEDICAL RECORD THAT I WOULD HAVE THIS ADVERSE REACTION [emphasis because their response was so ridiculous]. Essentially, Riva Road Surgical Center's position was that although it was documented in my medical record that I had an allergy to this drug and paradoxical adverse effects, we support that he administered this drug to you without your consent and against your wishes. We regret you had yet another adverse reaction to this drug. I would never return to Riva Road Surgical Center .
