What I wish more businesses did, was communicate. I made an appointment with AFC Urgent Care hours in advance without conflict, was able to submit my medical requirements before arrival, and still arrive on time. My appointment was set for 4:30p & I was not seen for an hour+ without forthcoming communication of what the delay was for. I had to ask at least 3 times and their response was just "trying", yet I'm sure if I used that same reason as to why I was "trying" to be on time for my appointment but was an hour late, I'm sure I would've been charged for my absence. I don't appreciate my time being dismissed, especially without communication. But to address care quality once seated in a room, was fine. The staff in that regard was attentive and quick. read more

"Good afternoon, I am writing to share my experience at your Edgewater, MD location today. While I was impressed by the professionalism and kindness of everyone I interacted with, I unfortunately received an incorrect initial diagnosis. I came in for an x-ray of my pinky finger and was initially told that there were no breaks or fractures. However, I later received a call from PA Ben confirming that a hairline fracture was detected after further review by the radiologist. I understand that medical errors can happen, but I believe it would have been beneficial to wait for the radiologist's report before providing a definitive diagnosis. Additionally, knowing about the hairline fracture, I would have appreciated the opportunity to have my finger wrapped as a precautionary measure. Despite this, I want to commend the staff for their overall care and attention. I hope this feedback can be used to improve future patient experiences. Thank you for your time and consideration." I was recently seen at AFC in Edgewater, MD, and the Dr told me my cough was viral but diagnosed me with Bronchitis and prescribed me with an Antibiotic and Tessalon Perles. I woke up early this morning coughing, choking and getting sick. Hours later I was seeing swirly colors out the corner of my eye. I get this is an allergic reaction, but also if it is viral, there was no reason to prescribe any of those meds. To me, it was more about paying the pharmaceutical company and not caring about the patients' health. Scariest morning of my life!! Left me traumatized. read more

I genuinely like the staff here but something is not right... I call to make an appointment and the phone just rings and rings. I try to make an appointment online and I get an error message that the once available time slot is now taken (this happened for every "available" time slot). FINALLY, got through via phone call and book an appointment for a rapid covid test. Like I said, I like the staff here but... it's totally relaxed in the office - I'm expecting the phone to be ringing off the hook and a bit of a fast-paced environment after wasting close to 45 minutes trying to get through via phone. I get my test done - easy peasy. They ask if I want a phone call or to wait 20 minutes for printed results. I tell them to call me. I get a text saying "your paper work is ready" ugh... I called, texted back and here we are the evening of my test and no results have been provided. Not so "rapid" I guess... read more

Called ahead to make sure they could look at an ingrown toenail that was getting pretty painful and I cold not get to a podiatrist until the following week. As well, I am diabetic, and have to take extra measures to care for my feet and make sure any condition does not get out of hand. Got in quickly enough but the PA said she was not able to trim the ingrown toenail. She then prescribed Cipro -- a very aggressive antibiotic -- even though I had no evidence of an infection. (Cipro has plenty of side-effects, including laying waste to your digestive bacteria, and is more typical after surgery.) I gave them a "1" rating when they sent the automatic survey text, and they responded promptly, asking to talk with me about it. I later got a call from the owner/manager who seems very conscientious about making good on the experience and addressing the issue. read more

I've been here twice now for rapid Covid tests. It's hard to get an appointment many places these days, but I was able to get one here luckily. Had a quick telehealth visit with the doctor before going in for the test. The platform was pretty easy to video call, which was cool. When you get there for the test, you call in from your car, so you can wait outside until it's your turn to go in. Once they're ready for you, they call. Then it was quick in and out. Rapid test takes 15-20 mins but you can either wait or have them call you. The whole staff was incredibly welcoming and patient. I imagine they are totally swamped. Grateful for the work they're doing! read more

Be aware that AFC will bill your drive-through Covid test to your insurance as an Urgent Care visit so you'll likely have a co-pay. In my case, they never sent me the results so I had to go to the office 8 days after getting tested to get the results. read more

The staffs is so friendly and polite with me. I came in to get my ankle check out. I was worried it was fracture but luckily it wasn't. It was just sprained. I waited a few but it was better other urgent care. It was worth the drive since I had 3 urgent cares near me only 5 minutes away. So that tell you something. read more

Incompetent doesn't even begin to describe the staff and practices at this urgent care center. I was waiting at the door for a walk-in pre-employment drug screening. By 8:35, exactly two other people had been taken back, one finished and left, and they were telling a young lady who had an actual 8:10 appointment that "it shouldn't be too long, we're just bombarded now". "Bombarded" with a total of six people to be seen? Including at least two of us with pre-employment drug screens that don't even require a doctor? Perhaps they would feel less harried if they moved at more than a snail's pace (watching some of them move was literally like watching video playback in slow motion). Perhaps if the staff was actually prepared to open at 8:00 instead of ambling back and forth between the office and their vehicles for minutes and taking even more time complaining to each other about short staffing, the initial "bombardment" by six patients (more like four patients and two walk-in drug screens) would be more manageable for them. It's now 8:40 and the 8:10 appointment just went back. I'll leave another review tomorrow if I'm still here waiting. At this point, I fully expect that if another few patients walk in, they'll lock the doors and not allow anyone else in, since they'll clearly be busy for the rest of the day owing to the lack of urgency and amazingly poor organizational skills. read more

Do not go here to get your COVID test. A friend and I had appointments at 11:15 and 11:30 am. We waited 2 hours in the car before they even called me back to get tested. They forgot about my friend's appointment and allowed other people to go ahead of her. When we called, they had mixed her up with somebody else and said her results for a completely different medical test would be ready in 5 days...she hadn't even been seen by a doctor yet! The only good thing about my experience here was that the employees were all very kind, which I appreciated a lot. The covid swab was quick and not too painful. The results were promised within 10 minutes and it's been almost an hour now, still haven't gotten them. Overall, the management of this place is not great and I wish I had gone somewhere else. Would have saved 2 and a half hours of my life. read more

I went there today because I thought I broke my toe .This was my first visit . Front desk people were attentive and polite. The X-ray girl was lovely , and the doctor spent a good amount of time with me . Very good care here ! No need to go all the way to Nighttime Peds in Annapolis if I don't have to ! This place was also very clean :) Update -( March 19 2014 ) I took my 8 year old daughter here because she was complaining of painful urination . I figured she had a UTI so off we went . She gave a urine specimen to the medical assistant then the Dr came in . He didn't even introduce himself , but asked ," does she have kidney problems ?" I said no. He looked at her results and said ," this is frightening ". What ???? My daughter burst into tears and I was a nervous wreck . He also stated she should see a nephrologist ! Her specimen showed white blood cells , protein and blood , all things you would expect a UTI to have in it. He gave us a RX for antibiotics and we left . I was so nervous driving home . Why did he say " FRIGHTENING ??" My husband and I didn't sleep that night . I took her to her pediatrician a few days later and her symptoms were gone . They sent her urine for a urinalysis and a culture and it was completely clear .. The infection was gone . I told the Dr about our experience at DE and she didn't understand why he reacted the way he did . My daughter is fine. All she had was a simple urinary tract infection . I appreciate this Dr taking care of her , but we won't be seeing him again . read more

Very frustrating exp. I called at 8am they said no one was waiting in the office come on over. I got there at 8:20 the doors were locked. The woman came to the door and said they were waiting to open for the doctor. She knew I just called and oops sorry. No, I could not come in and fill paper work out. No, they had no idea how long the dr would be. Yet she told me to come over. Wait in my car. I just left, Patient First got me right in. Maybe they forgot they deal with sick people who don't want to make an unnecessary trip and stand in the freezing cold. Too bad she was not accommodating the dr seems to get great reviews. If there was a matter of liability the woman who shut and locked the door in my face could have told me that. read more

I've been to this location twice in the last year. The office is always very clean. Their entire staff is very friendly and efficient. I really appreciate how quickly they get you in and out of there. I've been to several other urgent care centers in the area, all of which have been terrible experiences. The staff and doctor were very welcoming, kind, and efficient. I felt very comfortable going there. The offices were also very clean as well! Definitely a great place to go if you have an urgent medical need. I moved here from out of state and need to find a family doctor. I hadn't realized that my RX was so close to running out until Saturday morning. It's one that is dangerous to stop abruptly so I was really worried about what could happen until at least Monday when I could call my doctor or find a new one here. My worries were eased by the staff and doctor. They were able to fill my prescription right away. I took in my empty bottle as proof that I had the RX and it's not a controlled substance so I'm sure that helped to ease their possible concerns that I was not "drug seeking". I recommend this facility to anyone who needs to find a great urgent care! read more

Don't rely on AFC to honor what they tell you one the phone. One day an EKG is offered to some students, then a few days later it's no longer offered to others. Even after confirming on the phone before making the appointment. I suppose they just want to focus on the easy COVID testing money! read more

Absolutely the best experience I could ask for. As an old lady experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, I was scared. I couldn't reach my PCP so I Googled an urgent care which might test me. AFC Urgent Care in Edgewater was just the perfect resource! After a brief amount of on-line registration (really easy to do) I was 'on hold' awaiting a call from a doctor. Dr. Rorison called me for a tele-med visit and all of my anxiety was relieved when he listened carefully and then thoroughly explained what steps for me to take. I need a new PCP and I believe I've just found the right doctor and the right medical office. Very grateful for such a caring doctor to have taken the time to help me out. I was seen/diagnosed fairly quickly late at night but when I went to pick up my prescription, up the street, I found out the tech sent my prescription (she encouraged using) to a pharmacy that doesn't accept my insurance. I called UFC Urgent Care first thing next morning to transfer the prescription to another pharmacy, over 2 hours later, I'm still waiting. They keep telling me they will send it. I feel horrible, doctor prescribed plenty of rest, but I've been in the phone all morning, with laryngitis, nasty cough that worsens when I talk, headache, shortness of breath, and no energy trying to get my prescription filled. They diagnosed me. so I guess it's too much to expect Medicine in a timely manner. I recommend a facility that cares through the end. read more

Went in on a Sunday because my primary doctor was closed. Easy to make an appointment right after I got off work, was taken very quickly since they weren't so busy. I love Doctors Express because it means I don't have to waste 20 minutes calling the pediatrician for an appointment I already know they won't have available when my kids are sick - gah! I used to think it was so frustrating my kids couldn't see their PCP when they were sick. But now it doesn't bother me because I can just pop over to Urgent Express and I'm in and out. Friendly staff, friendly doctors and it's clean! I NEVER feel like I'm walking into a facility full of sick people like most urgent care facilities I have been to. (gross!) Between my daughters and myself, we have had three appointments there, and we will NEVER waste our time driving to Annapolis for urgent care again! I tell everyone I know to go here! read more

I had a great experience with Doctors Express in Edgewater, MD. The wait was ridiculously short, I was in and out with meds faxed to pharmacy in less than 45 minutes. The staff was extremely sensitive to my discomfort and went above what I expected to get me relief. My personal Dr could not see me for 4 days and by then I would have been through the roof. The ER room at the local hospital would have been at least 3-4 hours. Kudos to this great group of people! read more

Prompt, Courteous, Through and most of all CONVENIENT. I work for a corporate housing company in Annapolis. I received an urgent call from a client of ours on a Monday morning. She was desperate with no one to call......would I please pick her up and take her to the hospital emergency room. I had met Ginni at a golf tournament a couple years back and remembered her mentioning her new place, Doctor's Express on Solomon's Island Rd. So, I asked Holly if we could try Doctor's Express rather than the hospital emergency room. Holly was so sick...."just get me somewhere". We were the first to arrive on a Monday morning. The staff was courteous. The paperwork took a bit of time...but we understand. Holly was taken back quickly and treated professionally by the nurse and doctor. The best convenience was the strep throat test being done right there with immediate results. We left Doctor's Express, went next door for a cold soothing drink at Dunkin Donuts drive through and then to CVS where Holly's prescription was ready to go via the drive through. Can't get any more convenient than that. Everything was handled through insurance and the fees were minimal. I dropped Holly off at home to take her medicine and rest. At 8pm that night, I checked in with Holly and she was a new woman. She had slept 8 hours straight for the first time in 3 days and felt like a new person. I had an issue with this practice (needed an antibiotic prescription refill), and "fell through the cracks" in terms of communication. While not a beaming fan, I think they do actually want to do things right. They ended up doing the right thing by me, which I appreciated. It's too bad that I had to complain via social media, but I think my complaint may not have made it up the chain otherwise. Lesson learned for all of us I suspect! They DID jump on it immediately, so, I left satisfied. read more
