I went to the MinuteClinic on Slaughter Lane in Texas. I requested titer tests for antibodies to rubella, measles, and mumps. The NP who drew my blood did a very good job, told me that the results would be available in about three business days, then charged me $100.00. Imagine my surprise when I received bills from LabCorp with the following charges: Rubella Antibodies, IgG - $73.50 Measles Antibodies, IgG - $131.25 Mumps Antibodies, IgG - $119.70 $324.25 in unexpected fees. Had I known this up front, I would have walked out without testing right then and there. I called MinuteClinic and they confirmed that they sent my blood sample to LabCorp for testing. They guess they just forgot to tell me there would be more fees. Damned inconvenient. read more

I googled allergy testing near me and this came up, and I clicked through and went to their website to book an appointment. The website clearly said allergy testing I'm even listed all the things that they would test for. This was not the closest location to me, but it was the closest one that had an appointment that met my needs, so I went ahead and booked it even though the location is about 45 minutes away from me. Upon arrival the woman working said that they don't do allergy testing and could really just do flu and Covid shots. So all told a one and and a half hour round-trip complete waste of my time, and now I'm left going back to the drawing board to find a place that actually does what they claimed they would do. These places can be hit or miss - this one is definitely a "miss." I had blood drawn for some standard wellness tests at a different CVS, and they failed to perform one of the tests for which they had charged me. They asked me to come back and said that they'd redo the test at (obviously) no charge. I made an appointment at this facility on Slaughter Lane. When I arrived, the single technician informed me that she was, "not one of the people who drew blood." Which was quite surprising. She was pleasant but could not explain how I had been able to make an appointment for a blood draw at a facility that is not staffed by a phlebotomist. Anyway, the technician suggested that I go "directly to the lab.". Wherever in Austin that was located. I asked her to please just reverse the charge for the work that had not been done and told her that I'd make other arrangements. She explained to me that she wouldn't be able to process a refund. Because something, something, something billing. If you actually need a blood test (as opposed to just being up for an aimless drive around town), you might want to select a business that, well, draws and tests blood. read more

Got there on time. There was only one staff member working. My appointment was at 6:30pm, and I walked out at 7:00pm without being seen. There was another person there whose appointment was at 6pm, and he was still waiting. Then they had nerve enough to send me a text later that evening saying they were sorry I didn't make it for my appointment. I went to CVS Minute Clinic to have a strep test. I was told my total charge would be $45. Upon receipt of my bill, the total cost was $184. A $139 initial visit charge was added on. I was never made aware of this fee. Had I have known, I would not have gone to CVS. Who pays $184 for a strep test? After months of attempting to contact CVS and talk with them (best of luck getting on the phone with a supervisor), I gave up and paid the outrageous bill. Awful service. I had a 10 AM appointment. When I arrived, there was no one here. I waited for a while and left for a few minutes because an employee said the clinician probably wasn't here. No explanation. Came back a few minutes later and the door was closed. 40 minutes later, the clinician emerges with a patient. While I've been waiting, another man arrives. After the patient leaves, she calls the man in that, doesn't ask whether I have an appointment, whether I was there first, etc. It's now 11am and I'm still sitting here, and I was given no opportunity to inquire about my appointment. HIGHLY recommend this clinic. I've been going to this minute clinic for over three years - Gwen is basically my PCP. I first saw her during pregnancy for a couple things outside the scope of my midwives. then, we practically became best friends when I put my daughter in daycare and had every imaginable sickness. I was so pleased she would always consult with me - and the LacMed database - prior to prescribing anything to make sure I was comfortable with treatment. Since then, I see her once or twice a year with some ailment or another - typically allergies gone bad (sinusitis, bronchitis). I recently went for a visit and with flu season there were two docs there; I had to see someone else. But, I was extremely pleased with her knowledge and professionalism. I have BCBS and a portion of my visits are covered so it's a very reasonable option for me; as such I haven't bothers to find a PCP yet. Why bother, when Gwen is right down the road? Just make an appointment online (or stop in, get your wait time, then visit Starbucks across the street). read more

I have never been one to provide a negative review, but I couldn't let this one go. Worst experience ever. Scheduled an appointment online and the only opening they had was in 20 minutes. I live 35 minutes away and jumped in the car immediately and sped to get there. I tried to call on the way but all I got was a computer to talk to. Showed up 10 minutes late and they had already cancelled the appointment. (how much you want to bet that if I had gotten there on time I would have waited for 30 minutes before even seeing the Dr.) The Dr. there told me that I was late and that I should have been on time. She refused to see my sick child (ear infection). She refused to even look at him and see if it warranted going to an emergency room. The only thing she would do was try to reschedule me for the next day. I even waited around until the end of their day to see if she would try to help a child in pain, but she wouldn't. Was told that they were now closed for the day to to schedule an appointment for the following day. There was no compassion about my sick child, and no offer to be helpful. The Dr. seemed more concerned with leaving at 4:30 than being helpful to a sick child. I asked for the Dr.'s business card, but was told that she did not have one, nor would the nurse provide me her information. I will never, ever, ever go near the minute clinic again as they have proven that they do not care about helping people. read more

Like most people who've written reviews here, I also had reservations about going to a CVS clinic. However, Gwen was very knowledgeable, personable and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. My (uninsured) fiance was wheezing from his asthma since his inhaler was just about out of juice, so we head on over. After a very short wait, we found out that the place doesn't treat asthma. BUT, they referred us to a great, CHEAP, and FAST clinic down south. This beats the time he needed an inhaler and we were left with not many options, other than the hospital visit. Now we can rest easy that we won't have to pay an arm and a leg just to get a prescription for his asthma medication!! They handle a variety of other minor medical issue at the Minute Clinic for a very low price, including allergies; bladder infections; bronchitis; ear Infections; pink eye and styes ; sinus Infections; strep throat, and swimmer's ear, as well as skin conditions; wellness and prevention screening, and vaccinations. And the doctor who saw us was totally sweet and apologetic that she couldn't treat him. She was so much nicer than many doctors I've been to! read more

I am on a world tour of Minute Clinics. 'Why?', you ask. Well, I have a propensity for injury and a general laissez-faire attitude toward most until they have escalated to the point of needing medical attention. Now, I have tried to mend my ways and clean up these sewing, manicure, or just walking around the house injuries as soon as inflicted and keeping an eye on them, but in the event that they might need a quick look, Minute Clinic is easy, cheap, and good enough to handle most of my minor boo-boos. The other day, I woke up, ready to conquer the world and hopped out of bed, right onto something. Glass? Metal? Wood? Dog toenail? The world may never know. I poked around in there for a while couldn't find anything, missed my Dad for a moment (the old man loves getting out splinters), cleaned it up, and hoped for the best. The next day, my little puncture wound was very angry and I couldn't tell if it was dried blood in there or a foreign particulate and it was swollen and sore. I checked Redi-Clinic's (the ones that are in HEB) site first and they said nothing about Minor Injuries. Then, I checked Minute Clinic's website and lo and behold, they offer Splinter Removal, you know, for those of us not living with our parents. So, off to Minute Clinic I went, the one on Lake Austin Blvd. cause that's the one I always go to. I hobble inside. 7 people ahead of me. A 3.5 hour estimated wait. Sheesh! I signed in anyway and even gave my phone number so they could text me 30 minutes before my appointment and thought, I could swing my the Brodie / Slaughter location on the way home. I got there and was the only person in line. The LPN cheerfully greeted me as I was signing in (they are nurses not doctors--I noticed a couple other reviewers saying "doctors" so that might be why you didn't get the care you were looking for). She said it is often super busy at Lake Austin and often really slow at Brodie, though they have their busy times too. A good tip. I sat down and we quickly went over my patient history and insurance and the current issue. She examined my foot, poked around, said there didn't seem to be anything in there, prescribed an antibiotic ointment especially for MRSA (sadly, I am now likely a carrier due to recent years of sitting in hospitals with ill family members. This is also why I suddenly have to be so vigilant about minor injuries), I paid my $20 copay, and only had about 5 minutes to pick out some bandages before my script was ready ($5 for that with insurance). Let's call it the 30Minute Clinic. That's how long it took me on a quiet Sunday afternoon (yes, they were open) before I got up and left. I went to their kiosk -- no humans in sight -- to sign in/register to get a flu shot. I sat, and I waited. And waited. And waited. No humans were around, although there was a sign taped on the door warning against knocking. I finally detected signs of life... laughter from inside. I checked my watch. 21 minutes had passed. Finally, after 30 minutes, I had enough. I walked to the kiosk to try to un-sign in... not possible! So, I just left and went down the street to get my shot. The cherry on the cake: I called ahead to make sure the flu was in stock, and was routed from the store to a call center. I was advised to ask the nurse about availability in person. There was no way to speak to anyone at the actual clinic. I won't be back, especially when there are so many alternatives nearby. Sorry -- no humor in this one... just irritation. read more

Thank you Minute Clinic! By about 8 months into my Austin adventure I had learned that allergies were going to be an issue. I started off with OTC options like Claritan D but as the months continued the effectiveness of the OTC stuff went down. Finally I woke up one morning with my eyes glued shut, my nose completely plugged, and feeling like utter Sh*t so called my Dr. An appointment for me could't be arranged for another few days and I was in no mood to wait so I looked into the CVS branded Minute Clinics. When I arrived it only took ten or so minutes for a nurse to see me, she quickly agree'd that Cedar and mold was my kryptonite and got me three different meds that have worked wonders since. They even accepted my insurance so I just had to dish out my normal co-pay and scrip fees. read more

I was a little reluctant to go here the first time. It kind of reminded me of being at a Banfield inside of PetSmart. My first visit was lackluster. But my second visit was great. I showed up at 9:30 am on New Year's Day. The PA on staff (a huge shout out to Guenevere Lindstrom) was fantastic. She made me feel like she woke up early on New Years Day just to make sure she could treat my secondary ear and sinus infection that the flu gave me as a parting gift. Thank you Gwen! Each time I have come, the wait time was minimal and the price was great. And who doesn't like to browse for "As Seen on TV" junk items while waiting to be seen by a medical professional? I have been to the Minute Clinic on Slaughter at least four times and every time I have had to wait at least 30 minutes. I am here right now and have been waiting for a hour and a half. The nurse is averaging 30 minutes per patient. The service here is horrible! The only reason I came today is my doctor was booked. I will NEVER come here again. read more

I went in this morning because I was pretty sure I had strep throat and was seen by Aroldo Ibarra Jr. I was the first one there so I was seen right away. He was very thorough and caring. Confirming my diagnosis he wrote me the prescription which I had filled there as well. The pharmacist was very friendly and filled it right away. We were having a terrible storm and the store manager even walked me to my car with his umbrella! I had a great experience and preferred this option to my doctors office with long wait lines and higher copayment for same day visit. Overall it was a very fast, friendly, efficient and caring experience. I highly recommend this place! read more

They were friendly but refused to see me because I had a "pre existing" condition. I had bronchitis a few weeks before but was coming in for a simple sinus infection. Because I was still coughing (again, NOT the reason I was coming) they sent me on to another clinic. Had no idea this even existed until I got sick last week and couldn't go in to work.I decided to give this a try. The wait time said 55 minutes but I only waited a max of maybe half an hour which isn't too bad.I got called in and it was straight to the point.We went over my symptoms and the doctor did a rapid strep throat test.She also said she would be able to give me a flu shot right then and there if I wanted one so I went ahead and got one.The quickest and most painless shot I've ever gotten. She did a good job of covering all the bases in a short amount of time.She prescribed me medication and it was sent to the pharmacy at cvs where I only had to wait about five minutes in line. I even got a note for work. Overall it was a really good experience and I will definitely be back there!The doctor was awesome and quick but not so quick I felt like she didn't care or overlooked anything. read more

This is the second time I've come, been quoted a time, waited 30 minutes and then my wait time has been updated to a 2+ hour wait because the clinician arbitrarily chose to take a break at a random time and didn't bother updating the system before new patients signed in. Terrible pharmacy. Long story short.. they didn't have my prescription but instead of telling me that, they swore up and down the prescription was never sent in. After I went back and forth from the doctor to the pharmacy I was able to find out that it in fact was sent over to them. However they were out of the prescription and told me it was my doctors responsibility to notify. They could not provide any answers as to when the prescription would be available. Apparently it's not their problem. Very rude and not the least bit helpful. You would think people who talk to and deal with sick individuals on a daily basis would have a little more compassion. The one positive is the girl who works the window (or at least working the window when I went through for my first prescription which was in stock). I don't know her name but she is had a big smile and positive attitude. Unfortunately her coworkers rudeness and lack of customer care overshadowed her positive energy. read more

Nice, affordable place to get shots for most common illnesses. The wait is short and you can set everything up at a kiosk in the store. The physicians are very friendly and you're in and out in no time flat. You get a full explanation of what you're getting done too, for example I got a flu shot and not only did the kiosk have information for me, but the physician reiterated everything from the kiosk as well. The physicians have personalities as well and aren't your typical pharmacy shot givers. I love the convenience of going here over my regular Doctor and the price was free under my insurance coverage. Plus you're in CVS you or your family can look around and shop during any waiting period. I've always been a fan of CVS too, it's like the Target of pharmacies. Very clean and organized. But getting back to Minute Clinic, it's worth your money and your time and definitely alleviates the stress of waiting at the Doctor's office. Long wait. Poor service. Copay equivalent to doctor. I went in two weeks ago with all the signs of a sinus infection, I clearly stated my symptoms and expressed my history of sinus infections. Regardless, the clinician was convinced that I had the flu, even though I did not have symptoms of the flu or test positive on a flu test. I was advised to take pseudoephed and denied my request for antibiotics. Last week I became severely ill and had to visit my regular doctor. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and a very serious respiratory infection, which had spread from my sinuses to my throat, ears and entire respiratory system. I was subsequently given several antibiotic regimens. I missed an entire week of work and I still feel worn down. read more

After visiting the CVS website, I learned that not only does CVS fill your prescriptions but they also have doctors and nurse practitioners there for your disposal. I filed it in the ol' noggin and saved that nifty information for later use. A week later, the older child gets an earache AT school after a week of sniffles and coughing. After the school calls, I call his pediatrician and much to my SHOCK and SURPRISE (not!) all of the appointments were completely booked and he wasn't able to be seen till later on at the after hours clinic, which by the way, costs more. The kid is crying and pulling on his ear. I start driving to CVS in hopes of a quick fix. Upon entering CVS, the minute clinic is clearly labeled in the back of the building. We were greeted by a computer screen asking us for a name, date of birth and a signature for patient privacy. It took all of 1 minute. As soon as I hit enter we were greeted by a nurse practitioner who immediately sat us in her office. She asked every question ARC would have asked, checked his lungs, throat, checked his temperature and finally checked his ears. She quickly asked for some background/medical info gave him his prescription and we were on our way to filling the prescription. It was quick but in no way did I feel rushed or did I feel that she skimped on the service either. They even sent a copy of the diagnosis and prescribed medicines to his pediatrician. The most we waited was for his prescription to be filled which took about 15 minutes. A diagnosis and filling a prescription took less time than watching an old Seinfeld episode. The best part of all of this is that they took our insurance and we only paid our co pay. No "after hours" fees, no bullshit. If you don't have insurance, they have set fees for basic medical needs. You definitely don't want to go there if you need a pap smear or a chest X-ray. Think of this is a place to go when you need a flu shot or a prescription for a cold, allergies, earaches, etc. Their hours are "real working persons" hours meaning they are open 7 days a week and on most days close at 8 p.m. I'm going to shout this from the hilltops because CVS has made me sooo happy. It went from a screaming, crying child to a happy and content child in a matter of 30 minutes. Important note: They don't see patients under the age of 18 months. read more

I am uninsured and when I'm sick I dread even thinking about going to the doctor, because I really don't feel like paying $120 for a doctor's visit just to wait in the waiting room for hours and see a doctor for just 5 minutes to tell me what I already know. I have a sinus infection. Not the case at the Minute Clinic on Slaughter and Brodie. I got there filled out the electronic paperwork and waited. Luckily I was the only one there, so I got to see the Nurse Practitioner right away. She was friendly, courteous and thorough. She checked me out, asked me relevant questions and really made me feel like I was being taken care of. Rather than dismissing me with a mere prescription, we went over any other medication that I may be taking and even the stuff I hadn't. I really felt better informed and felt like I was getting the attention I would like from a doctor, without taking a ridiculous amount of time waiting, or dealing with rude staff or long clinic lines. What's more is that it was totally reasonable. $62, for the check up, blood pressure check, temperature check, ears, nose and mouth check and script. She even emailed my prescription to the pharmacy of my choice so that it would be ready for me when I arrived. During times like this, when we can't afford medical care or if we do have insurance the quality of care is nearly non existent. I'm very thankful that there are alternative resources out there for the rest of us who are just working hard to pay our bills. Great job! read more

I am so freaking glad for this service that if I didn't feel like poo I would jump for joy. My allergy attack turned into a sinus and ear infection. On the weekend of course. I drove on over to the minute clinic and I was in and out. Walked over to the prescription counter and had my script in less than 5 min. They took my insurance and since it is considered a general practice instead of an "urgent care" I got to pay a lower copay. I found out about this glorious service when my boyfriend had a pretty severe ear infection a few months ago. We were dreading having to pay over 100$ for a doc and then the prescriptions. 62$ for the appt and another 30 or so on prescriptions. Not bad at all. Minute clinic is a savior. I always hated paying out the wazoo for a doc to tell me what I already knew. This way a doc or nurse practitioner can tell me what I already knew, its just not as painful to hear. read more

The electronic sign-in is pretty painless, and I didn't even have to wait. It's $62, which includes examination of vital signs, ears, throat, lungs, relevant medical history and script. Oh how I love thee, Minute Clinic! This is a long overdue review - we've been using CVS as our primary care doc for a while...well, not completely, but they've been amazing for the various problems we've had....from ear infections to styes to a tetanus vaccine, each nurse we've had has been professional and kind, with one going beyond and not charging us once he/she checked our toddler's ears and determined he didn't have an infection (will never say who the nurse was so they don't get in trouble...!). it's a bit unnerving when they're looking through the book for answers, but they haven't steered us wrong... read more
