having not visited old town in quite some time, i was surprised to find mint condition while walking around. the cute logo drew me in and i had fun browsing through. the merchandise is in excellent condition and i spotted some high-end brands like prada and ferragamo. i found myself looking at something with every turn - gucci purse, ralph lauren sweater, etc. With my growing loyalty to websites like ruelala and gilt groupe, i liked what mint condition had to offer and would recommend it to any avid bargain hunters who know good fashion! read more

After careful thought, I thought it only appropriate to write this review. The clothes, shoes, accessories are great! However, on 2 separate occasions, the owner needs a few lessons on "customer service" and "honesty". The first incident happened after "watching" a pair of shoes that I really wanted; waiting for them to go on sale. I would shop every week for other items so I knew the date that the shoes were to go on sale. When the "sale date" arrived, I took the shoes to the register along with some other items and realized that the sale date had been extended (changed). When I brought this to the attention to the owner, her reply was, "I am the owner, and I would have no reason to change the date" (snippy). I just took her word being that I am not a confrontational person, paid for my other items and left the store. I was able to purchase to shoes on the "new" sale date. I continued to patronize the store because she really does have some nice things there. Approximately 4 months later, I found another pair of really nice, gently worn desinger shoes at a great price. I immediately took the shoes and a few other things to the register to pay, and became distracted with some other items. When I returned back to the register, the owner stated, "I am so sorry, but these shoes have been incorrectly priced. These shoes are by "XYZ" (I can't remember the designer) and if the consignor knew that I sold them to you at the price that is on the tag, she would not be happy". I stood at the register thinking, "okay, that is all well and good, however, this is not my problem that the shoes were priced incorrectly. This is the 2nd time this has happened and I am sure that she is going to honor the price on the shoes (her mistake, not mine). " At this point, the owner and I had an official "stare-down", because I am just remaining quiet and expecting her to do "the right thing" to a now loyal customer. Well, needless to say, SHE DIDN'T BUDGE. She apologized again for the error but proceeded to ring in my other items. I politely paid for the items minus the shoes and left. By the time I reached the corner, I decided to go back and return the other items. When I reached the register and the owner, I explained to her that I no longer wanted the items that I had purchased because twice I had attempted to purchase something and either the date or the price "was incorrect". Here is where the lack of "customer service skills" comes into play: The owner immediately appeared agitated and told me that she "does not take returns for any reason" You have got to be kiddin' me!! I remained calm and explained to her that it has not even been 5 minutes since the transaction has taken place". She then asked me "Why don't you want the purchase?" (now displaying her lack of professionalism). I told her that because I have been in a situation twice where either the date or price was incorrect for some strange reason, I wish to no longer patronize her store". She (the owner) then practically snatched the items out of the bag, asked for my debit card, and refunded the purchase. She handed me the receipt to sign and literally walked away from the register while I was signing the receipt to rearrange shirts on the rack - leaving me there just standing and watching her apparent "temper tantrum" take place! ! UNBELIEVABLE!!! What is this world coming to ?? She audacity to be upset with me because I wanted my money back due to the way she conducts business. I understand that the consignor would not have been happy with the profit or lack thereof from the purchase of the shoes, however, is that my fault?? I totally understand, but when mistakes like that are made, there comes a time when you as the owner should pay for your own mistakes and honor the price that is placed on your merchandise. It is so unfortunate because I really did like shopping at Mint Condition, and I understand that the economy is tough, however, don't make your customers pay by not honoring the price or date that you as the owner have ticketed on your merchandise. The way that she (owner) conducts business and her attitude is totally "CLASSLESS"! read more

I put some items on consignment there in September. It was my first time consigning anything there. I was there happy. I got a detailed list of my items before I sold them. They items sold quickly too. I emailed to ask about a credit balance and they happily and quickly responded. Went in to pick up my check and minutes later I was back out the door. This is way better service then some other consignment stores in the area. read more

I have been to Mint Condition a few times. It has great designer finds for prices much less than the department stores. Unlike other consignment stores, Mint Condition was clean and well organized. The clothes were in good condition, some were even new. read more

I shouldn't have ventured in when I saw the tacky, faded dress on a mannequin outside the shop. The clothes are jammed on the racks and the salesgirl was so robotic it was like a Stepford wife had taken a job. I didn't she anything I would give to Goodwill. Nothing of quality...I'm wondering if the positive comments are planted by the shop. I live mere blocks from it, but I will never waste my time going there again. Now Ella-Rue is an entirely different story---things I'd actually wear, nice people, and the clothes aren't jammed on the racks. read more

The clothes are nicely displayed but honestly there wasn't that much selection in each size category. And what was there wasn't always in the greatest shape. The clothes were also surprisingly pricey - I'm not going to spend big $$ on used clothing when I can buy new for the same price at Macy's or H&M. I've had better luck finding bargains at Unique for much MUCH less money. Unique also has name brands like Talbots, Chico, etc. and an infinitely better selection. Overall I was disappointed but hey, Old Town is always nice to visit! read more

I've been shopping and consigning at Mint Condition for about 3 years. It's the only consignment shop I do business with. It's a very clean shop so you know that if you want to get your items back they will be in the same good condition as when you left them and if you purchase something wonderful it won't have that "consignment shop smell". I'll start out by admitting that about 30% of my clothes are from this store. I would never have otherwise been able to afford two pairs of true religion jeans, or three juicy couture jackets. Located in a cute old town row house, I have been shopping here since this place opened and do consider myself addicted to it. The prices are high, but you are paying for designer clothing in very good condition; can't complain. I do wish there was a greater selection (not too many size 24 jeans or 6 shoes), but I know that it is a consignment shop and they really do only have what people are willing to bring in. The resident Chihuahua is adorable, though he frightens easily. A few legitimate qualms: they way overdo the diffusers. My smell-sensitive mother needs a gas mask. Also, I have found the girls in there frigid and unhelpful at times, each resembling a little to closely those preppy girls who tortured me in high school (possible bias on my part). To continue on that track, someone needs to tell the owner that just because something is in good condition and cost a million dollars originally does NOT mean it's attractive; I have seen some truely hideous things in here. Personal biases aside, I would recommend this to any label-whore such as myself or just anyone looking for a fun place to poke into on a stroll around old town. Visit the cupcake place next door if your shopping works up an appetite! read more

The shop wasn't wheelchair/stroller accessible so it was really difficult to shop with my daughter in her stroller. The prices were also a bit out of my budget, but that seems to be the case for most of the Alexandria consignment shops. read more

I sure wish yelp would allow for that darn half star. Or as i call it the unicorn since we have never seen nor will we see that half star. I've been in this shop 3 times now and I like it. Why 3 stars then right???!! 1. The staff is coolly friendly not warm nor enthusiastic. The selection is typically good. My friends and I always have found 1 thing that we each like. My friend purchased aviator ray bans at such a great price I wanted to smack myself for suggesting them to her. I snatched up 22 dollar toms that were in you guessed it mint condition. My next visit my friend grabbed a great BR coat for a whopping 50 bucks. Tons of current J. Crew items. This is such a fun, great store! I grew up in Alexandria, VA, so whenever I am back home I stop by Mint Condition. I have often found some great pieces here at great prices. The items are well organized and it's a pretty building, in a great location. I'm so glad this store is in Old Town! read more

Their designer jeans are very inexpensive ($20-45) but the selection is very limited. Maybe only two pairs in my size (27). Some of the items still seems pricey to me though for used clothes. Nice things though! read more

Lots of interesting jackets, tops, some jewelry and some purses. Younger people work there and they pick clothes to sell. I'll probably come back there to shop. read more
