Best consignment store in the area! I have been here multiple times and always find something there. They carry mid to high end designers (including D&G, Tory Burch, Equipment, Rag & Bone) and clearly pay attention to what items are actually cute (unlike another popular consignment store in Old Town). I recently walked out with gorgeous Lilly Pulitzer gold wedges at an amazing discount. Got lots of compliments. Customer service is also excellent. I was visiting the area and had some time to check out this consignment. In general, the clothing was well chosen, no holes or marks on clothes. It lives up to the stores name. Most were high end designers that are familiar names, some I never heard of before. I feel the clothes are a little high priced though. Even though they are designer, they are second hand use and the prices are not that much lower than MSRP for a few items I was interested in. The shoes though were well priced though. One thing that I didnt like was when I wanted to try on a pair of boots. They only have one side (ex. right foot only) on display and you need to ask them for the other. The shoes and dressing room are located upstairs. When I came downstairs with clothes to try on, I asked to try on a specific pair of boots, too. Instead of her getting it for me, she said "go get the boot want and I'll find the left for it." I had to go upstairs, then back down again to give it to her just so she could go back upstairs again to take me to the fitting room. And told me to "meet her at the fitting room". My heels were also hurting very badly from the shoes I was wearing (thus the reason I needed new ones) and walking up and down was not in my favor that day. Bad customer service from who looked to be the manager/owner of this place. I ended up getting a pair of designer leather winter boots for about $40. I had a yelp discount that I wanted to redeem when I checked out, but honestly I feel like the same woman (who I had a feeling was the owner) didn't even apply it, as it wasn't listed on the receipt and the price didn't change. She had a strong personality and was not very warm so I didn't want to press it. The other employee, a young girl, was very nice though and helped get a dress off a mannequin that I wanted to try on. The store is very beautiful with a nice selection of clothes, jewelry, bags, shoes and accessories. I'll go back if I'm in the area again, but they need to show better customer care and positivity. read more

I have not walked into Mint in several years and wow has it improved 150%. I first went online to see their hours and was thrilled to see all the photos they had up of all their new items, which are always top notch as they are a bit particular with the quality of their items compared to some places. I enjoy shopping at Mint Condition. The store is very well organized, both by size and color. Upstairs there are always some great sale items. Four dressing rooms - I've never had to wait. This shop is one of the best in Alexandria. Mint's selection is awesome and the prices are reasonable. The selection spans Gucci Loafers to Louboutin thigh high boots. I visited Mint Condition in search of a dress to wear to an upcoming wedding. It must be that I went when the stock was not great, but I wasn't impressed with what I found at Mint Condition when I visited this past weekend. There were certainly some good finds tucked away, including J Brand Jeans, Diane Von Fustenberg, and Chanel, but many of the dresses I looked at seemed dated. Several pairs of shoes I picked up in the sale area upstairs had soles that were incredibly worn, which in my mind would warrant a steep discount. A couple sweaters I looked at also had some fraying in the arm area, which is certainly something to avoid when shopping. The sales girls (they looked like they were in their teens) greeted everyone pleasantly but were involved in their conversation behind the register. I don't know if I'd return since the stock was so disappointing this time around. I'm sure the advertising out front of all the brands they carried got my hopes up, but it doesn't matter what brand something is if the items are in mediocre condition. read more

Ok, so I'm a business woman, vintage clothes buyer and seller extraordinaire; and I do consign with local consignments shops around the DMV - thought you might want to know. So I visited Mint Condition (MC) to see if the vintage clothes I have were up to par with their items; and to my surprise yes they were and are. MC has a selection of high end designer clothes and accessories throughout the store. I love how everything and where everything has its place in the store. As I looked around and sifted through the racks, I didn't see any vintage labels or clothes for that matter; and maybe - just maybe a few select retail store brands but no authentic vintage. And I know vintage when I see it as well as the labels; but it's possible they have some vintage pieces in their stock - maybe. So I made an appointment to bring some vintage items to consign with MC. Let me tell you, the MC is very particular when it comes to selecting what they believe or think will sell; and maybe their clientele is just that picky and/or they want trendy - what's current - brands. And that's fine too! Sadly though the pieces that I consigned didn't sell; and needless to say I was really surprised. But the flip side to consigning with MC is that there's a time frame the clothes are advertised to sell, and if they don't sell after that time period you can get your items back. Which I did; so I'll just take them to another consignment shop. So on that note, if you're not looking to consign but rather shop for some high end fashion labels, accessories, etc; but definitely no vintage, then MC is truly the place. Very friendly and well organized. So happy I found this place today! Bought a pair of really nice leather black boots for under 50 bucks. They look new but feel perfectly worn in. Santos brand, very soft beautiful leather! I will be going back in November! I would of given 5 stars if they would of had more of selection of items. This was one of the cleanest, most well-organized consignment experiences I've ever had! The store is really nicely arranged and just feels luxurious to be in. While browsing, I came across quite a few DvF and Milly dresses, and other high-end stuff; and there was also a decent selection of jeans; but I found my true loves in the upstairs room, where the sale merchandise and shoes are kept. I nearly wept on finding a pair of Tod's loafers that were just a hair too big, but in the end I got a very flattering and cutely beaded Cynthia Rowley tank for $8, so I can't complain. I found the prices here amazingly affordable, and the store was easy and pleasant to browse. They had high-end stuff as well as lots of mid-range stuff a la J. I have been on the hunt for a new designer handbag for a while now and Mint Condition delivered. All the way from Texas, I was able to keep track of their new inventory via their up-to-date Instagram. When I saw a bag I loved, I called and they even sent me additional photos to make sure this was the right bag, sight-unseen. The staff is SO helpful and kind. You can tell they love their customers. The staff is either horribly rude to those customers who aren't regulars or flat out racist. First, my mother and I were the only two-African American patrons in the store, and the only two that were not greeted or offered assistance, although other customers were. Then, while she waited for assistance, my mother was completely ignored by another salesperson who looked her square in the face and said nothing to her. Who then went to the backroom, came back out, and proceeded with rearranging a display, as if my mother wasn't even there. I got an email about their flash sale today and stopped by, and when the girl at the register finished her lengthy conversation with her coworker and got around to ringing me up, she told me the sale didn't apply to me because I hadn't "mentioned it" when she was bagging my items, despite the fact that 1) nowhere in the email did it say you had to and 2) I had it on my phone and could have showed her that I'm on their mailing list. She also couldn't void the sale and rering it. I unsubscribed from their mailing list because of it, and don't really see the point in shopping there anymore. The quality of their stock has gone way down since they opened - I found a pair of shorts with a stain on the front and a sweater with a big hole in the back on this trip alone - and their jewelry, which used to be good stuff, is now cheap, Lulu's quality pieces. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the selection and organization of the clothing at Mint Condition! They have a great selection of both clothing & shoes. I saw some Dior, Marc Jabos, Coach & Prada shoes, and none of them were over $100. They had a great selection of designer jeans as well. They were all nicely displayed by size on a shelf, so its easy to look through. Although, I didn't make a purchase, I would return. One comment though, they could improve the decor. read more

How can you sell my brand new Donald Pliner shoes for $6.00...I would giving away to charity if that's all I was getting. Shopping at Mint Condition, is like going through your most stylish girlfriend's closet. So many good designer finds at excellent prices. I am both a consigner and a customer and have sold and purchased many beautiful things here over the years. I still get compliments on a gold Milly dress I bought here three years ago! I can't believe I ever walked in this place. They sale those cheap necklaces for $50 (the kind you can get in the fashion district wholesale store for $10). The customer service is what turned me off most of all. It was nonexistent. The store clerk never budged when I walked in. I expect that at the Celine store on Park Avenue but not at a thrift store in Alexandra, Virginia. $30 for a tired J. While I did not buy anything here I really liked their offerings (much better than Designer Divas). Everything was cuter and organized much better. They had an entire rack of designer jeans and cute dresses and coats. The dressing rooms were bright and fun and things seemed fresh. This is one of the best consignment shops around. I am older than most of the reviewers here, and I'm not a fashionista by a long shot, but I do appreciate the high quality of consigned items at Mint. The prices can be steeper than some might be willing to pay, but that's because they are selling mainly designer and high-end label clothing. For example, the more frugal and less trendy might react like my mother, who walked in, looked at a pair of shoes, looked at the price tag ($50), and said, "I can get a new pair for less than that!" Of course, she did not realize that they were a brand name pair of shoes that had originally cost $200. The reviewer who commented on the bargain room upstairs is absolutely right. it is a trove of finds, many of which are significantly marked down. I am personally always excited by the selection of designer jeans. I am short, so I am happy to find well-made jeans already hemmed to my length. To sum up: Mint is a fantastic boutique. I've consigned clothes here and I believe they place everything at a fair price point. As the name suggests, they want things in Mint Condition and no older than two years normally. Here you'll find a mix of clothes, accessories, and jewelry from top designers and some more basic brands like J. Crew, Ann Taylor and Gap. The space is very cute and the staff are usually helpful. On a few occasions I've gone in and gotten a sort of stand offish vibe from newer staff, but the owner is nice. read more

I love consignment stores and bargains - who doesn't? So I have visited this store twice in hopes of forming a permanent opinion. 1. Staff: both times seemed friendly and courteous but nothing over the top that would make me astonished 2. Merchandise: Selection seemed pretty decent. Clothing was arranged neatly by size and color. However, the quality of items was poor some shoes looked too worn to be sold in store and a Tory Burch blouse that I purchased I later found out when I got home was ripped. 3. Location: it's pretty close to the courthouse and restaurants, also there's metered parking close by and free two hour parking a few blocks over 4. Pricing: this is always super important to me because I'm a bargain hunter and I was very disappointed. The Tory Burch ripped blouse I purchased was $30. I later realized I could've scored it close to that price new at Nordstrom rack. Sadly I didn't return a third time. read more
