I had used Minnick's a couple times before over the years and didn't seem to have issues, but the last time I took my car there, not only did it cost an arm and a leg for the repairs, but they botched the repair and caused me to have to take my car to another shop and spend hundreds more dollars. Initially, my car was taken to Minnick's due to a failed fuel pump module that caused my fuel pump and alternator to fail. The parts were replaced to the tune of $1900+, but my car died again within a mile of the shop. The second time I drove away, I was able to drive my car for 3 days before the engine started overheating. (Not only that, but I was burning through twice as much gas as normal.) Took it to another shop where they discovered that Minnick's had left the oil pressure solenoid unplugged, causing the engine to overheat, which lead to my thermostat melting in its housing. The amount of times the technician from Minnick's told me he didn't understand why my check engine light was still on when I drove away told me that he was pretty inexperienced. He had several excuses for why he couldn't figure out what codes were showing up, but the other shop had zero issues figuring out what was wrong and didn't go into a diatribe about how much time it took them to diagnose the repairs. It seems that the technicians at Minnick's are trained to tell people how much time it took them to do work and then tell people they "weren't charging" them for this and that and how much of a discount they're getting before they tell them how outrageous the bill is. read more
