Probably the worst place I have ever taken any of my cars. Andy called me Thursday after I had left a message the day before about making an appointment for my 2006 Porsche Boxster. I wanted a quote for an oil change and rear brakes. We decided to do the oil change first. He said he would have all the materials for the next day and that if I gave him the tag number that would tell him exactly what info he needed to have the correct supplies for my car. We made an 11:00 am appointment for Friday 2/22/19. At this point, let me back up. I had called them before. I had a conversation with the owner about IMS bearings regarding these cars. That's when I was finding out info and trying to find a place to do the repairs. He knew nothing about it, but then researched it himself and decided he should purchase the equipment to make those repairs and contact all his Porsche clients. I had also been there before to ask questions, etc. Didn't find them to be friendly or helpful, and I've heard both good and bad things about them. However, they work on Porsche's and it's an oil change. Nobody can mess up an oil change I thought. I was wrong. They can and they did. We got there Friday morning. The first question I was asked was what kind of oil did I want in my car. My son woke up nervous about this place, but I thought it was okay, until she asked me what kind of oil. I said we were leaving if they didn't know what kind of oil the car needed. She literally grabbed my key and ran out a back door. Next thing I know the owner was in my face showing me diplomas he had that were to show he knew what he was doing. He said and Andy said they work on Porsche's all the time. It's not confidence inspiring though when I was asked about the kind of oil I wanted. I apologized about being nervous. He then went on to ask if we had the IMs bearing fixed. I told him about my research and said we were told to look for metal in the oil. Finding metal particles is a warning sign, and only 10 percent of Porsche's actually have the IMs bearing issue. As soon as my son and I said anything about metal, we knew exactly what this place was going to do, but it still kind of surprised me when they did it. The owner said metal, hmmm. The mechanic came about a half hour later with one big piece in his hand, claiming he found it in the oil. Said it was metal. Then said he found a leaking axel and two bad tires. I didn't believe the metal and I don't now. However, just in case, that meant the car was not something we should drive a lot. I did panic and the only good thing about this experience was the mechanic saw me panic. He was nice. He sat down with me and said it was all ok and not to panic. He said the car was drive able and in good shape, and just needed a few things that were not emergencies. Then someone else came along telling me I needed to panic and this was serious and they were going to have to take my engine apart and the owner had left, but they called to tell him he needed to come back to talk to me. He never did talk to me after that initial time shortly after we go therShe even offered me financing for the repairs by the way. I got in touch with a mechanic I trust. He was suspicious of what they said too. He told me to have them put the oil filter in a bag and have the car towed to him. My son heard the one even say if was aluminum and had to be from the IMS bearing. It turns out, they didn't put Mobil one oil in my car. The receipt says thats what they were to use, but they didn't, and it says they didn't. The filter has no metal at all in it and the piece they gave me is aluminum, not metal. If it was the IMs bearing issue, the oil would have had tiny specs in the oil and it would have been throughout the filter, not the two big shards they said they found. It also would have been metal, not aluminum. I haven't gotten a full diagnosis yet, and I do believe I probably have a leaking axel and may need to replace two tires, but I don't believe they found metal, and even the receipt makes no mention of finding any metal in my oil, or aluminum. Now I probably even have to get my oil changed again, as they did not use Mobil One. What a waste of a day, a waste of $127 and some change, and a disappointment that this shop is so greedy that they have to make stuff up to make money. So upset people treat others like that over money. I don't trust this place at all. Obviously, I won't go back. Oh and the tow bill was $370. We drove 4 miles to wait for a tow truck because I didn't want to wait on private property, and the one mechanic there said it was ok to drive. I spent much more than if I had just made the trip in the first place to a mechanic I trust that is farther away than I wanted to go.
