My cousin purchased a phone case, and as we were walking out after paying, we noticed some squishies near the exit. We briefly squeezed them and continued walking out. The manager immediately looked at our hands as if she suspected we were stealing, despite the fact that she was standing right in front of us and had watched us pay for our purchase. It was extremely uncomfortable and made us feel like we were being treated as criminals for absolutely no reason. Then, once we got into the car, my cousin realized that she had accidentally purchased the wrong size phone case. Since it was only around 9:20 PM, she wanted to quickly go back inside to exchange it. Instead of simply helping her with the exchange, the manager immediately started yelling at my aunt and cousin, insisting that they were closed, even though the posted closing time was 9:30 PM. This caused my aunt to become upset and yell back. What made the situation even worse was the manager's attitude throughout the entire interaction. She had the nerve to yell at my aunt and then, when my aunt told her that she was going to leave a bad review because of her behavior, the manager essentially laughed about it with her employee. She was clearly not embarrassed or concerned about how she had treated us. If anything, she seemed to be mocking the fact that a customer was upset enough to complain. The employee working there clearly seemed uncomfortable and embarrassed by the situation and appeared to feel bad about the way his manager was treating us. He was put in an extremely awkward position because of her behavior. I completely understand that employees want to leave on time and that closing procedures take time. However, there is absolutely no reason to yell at customers, treat them like they are stealing, or mock them for expressing that they are unhappy with the service they received. The entire interaction was extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. I have never experienced customer service this rude at this location, and based on the manager's reaction to being told that a bad review would be left, it seems like she genuinely does not care how she treats customers. I hope management above her takes this complaint seriously and addresses her behavior because clearly she's a huge PROBLEM!

As someone who shops at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods almost every week, I was honestly surprised by this policy. I don't understand why a simple exchange needs to be turned into two separate transactions. It came across as more of an unwillingness to help than an actual customer service solution. This policy can also be a major inconvenience for customers who are on a budget and cannot afford to temporarily spend additional money. If your refund takes time to go back onto your card, you still need to come up with additional money on the spot to purchase the replacement items. Not everyone has extra cash available to essentially pay twice while waiting for their original purchase to be refunded. I spoke with the manager, Jerry, who confirmed that this location does not do exchanges and that their policy is to process a return first and then have the customer make a completely new purchase. What made the experience even more disappointing was the way the situation was handled. The interaction felt rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable just a straightforward exchange and some basic customer service. As a loyal and frequent TJ Maxx and HomeGoods customer, I expected much better customer service and professionalism from this location. A simple exchange should not become a financial inconvenience for the customer. Very disappointing experience.

It was a stroll for the curious. And sometimes I ended up buying a trinket. Like this one time, I bought an Alice in Wonderland coffee cup that became my daily coffee cup. And for those who are a daily coffee drinker they know one knows the contemplation and research that goes into picking the perfect cup. Science may one be able to explain why selecting a coffee cup is a matter of almost cosmic importance. When the coffee was done, the inside bottom- of my Alice in Wonderland cup- had this black and white optical illusion that suggested that the cup's bottom continued down an infinite hole, like the one the white rabbit fell through. Drinking the coffee to its last drop allowed me to see the optical illusion and briefly remember Alice's journey to Wonderland. And for a second remember that adventure is just down a hole that I may encounter sometime throughout the day, if not in the weekend. Eventually, the mug's handle broke in a shipping accident, and on that day the Cheshire Cat eyes teared up a little bit. I share the above anecdote to spotlight the type of product that can be purchased in these stores--- the type of items that are functional but mostly remind us to smile on the daily and daydreams of worlds where we can escape to and be wrapped in adventure. This was the shirt that I would get. And for myself I got a dress shirt with an Aladdin and Genie print. I could wear it to Disneyland but I think it is professional looking enough to wear it to some light cocktail party, and maybe it is tucked in, I can wear it to a professional setting. But that is a maybe. Fun and joyous prints and emblems have a time and place, and professional environments might not be the place. This place confirms what everyone knows already--- these stores are meant to be a romp of fun, where you buy items for the fun of it, and if one is lucky the object can be used in some functional way.
