I had Ruben (a guy with knee problem and a limp) come over to check a condo HVAC. He suggested a…read moretakedown of the entire system from the ceiling to determine if there was a Freon leak (found none, but charged me $500 without a receipt). He then proceeded to the roof (where the compressor is) and determined that the capacitor is bad (changed). He also said that there is a leak, as the Freon was empty. We had set the next day for his next visit to fill the system with Freon and add a dye (a leak detector), but did not show up after multiple calls. Got a different company for a recheck. The Freon was full, and there was a fuse removal/disconnect (in the control box next to the compressor) that was obviously done by Ruben (no one touched the system since the original installation). And guess what: the system fired up once the fuse was connected, and started cooling like a charm. In summary: Ruben obviously tampered with the power supply to make it look as if the system was dead. There was no need for take down of the coil cover to check for leaks, there was no leak, and the Freon was full. The guy is a liar and a fraud. Don't let him get close to your house. If there was an option for negative stars, I would give him - minus 10.

I called Cosmic for a service on my units in my home as my exceptional landscaper called out a…read moreproblem he saw. Anticipating some maintenance, I scheduled an appointment for Monday morning. Cosmic's dispatch and likely owner called half an hour later saying they had a cancellation and if I could fill the slot. I of course said yes Albert, the technician arrived promptly afterwards. Polite, professional and technically savvy he went straight to work. After doing some diagnostics he presented a plan for not only a repair but a rework that would add value to my home for a minimal investment. It was reasonably priced and they had the components in the van. This is especially important these days when supply chain is hugely constrained. Everyone knows your A/C breaks when it is most under demand so parts and electronics that are failing shouldn't be left to chance. Long story short Albert completed the re-work and servicing within a few hours. He did so in a clean, well organized and methodical manner. Albert appreciated that my grandson, a 4 month old, was napping in the room below the attic and was quite exceptional in keeping the noise to a minimum. This was hugely appreciated by my daughter and her husband. We all will now rest much easier knowing the system has been made reliable again with the right repairs and rework done correctly the first time. I strongly recommend Cosmic for all of your HVAC needs. If you are selling or buying a home they also offer the service of inspecting the HVAC so you aren't reliant upon a lesser experienced home inspector's visual inspection. Update to my original review of Heights A/C from 2019: Mitch kept my old 2006 unit running for…read moreseven years. At least two blower unit rebuilds, a control card, multiple capacitor replacements, and a few pounds of refrigerant every couple years. This year the refill exited far too quickly and I called Heights A/C for a quote. Thomas replaced the old unit and re-worked the ducts for a great result. The house feels better with the new duct work and the system is amazingly quiet.

Heights A/C replaced a fan motor under warranty. It broke before one year. We were without AC for…read morethree days at the hottest part of the summer before Sarah and Thomas finally came to replace it. Thomas then refused to fix the fan motor because they didn't install the AC. Even so, they had done AC work 5 previous times, including the broken fan motor. I had to file a dispute in small claims court, which I won. In court, Thomas said one misstatement of fact after another, but the judge must not have believed him. Be careful dealing with them.
