With very little knowledge about the Montessori method, we took a chance and were fortunate to secure a spot for our little one. We couldn't be more pleased and grateful to have not one, but three children under Ms. Julie and Ms. Liz's care. For the past almost six years as APPM parents, it never ceases to amaze me when I ponder how all three of our very different children have blossomed from their time with Ms. Julie and Ms. Liz. I appreciate that the classroom setup, both inside and outdoors, provides many opportunities for the children to develop independence and confidence. They learn to dress themselves, develop vocabulary, tend to the garden and care for a class pet--just to name some examples. Not only have our children learned so much, but so have we. Ms. Julie and Ms. Liz have been models of compassion and nurturing for us. Their parent education sessions have been so helpful and informative. They have led us in learning about the development of our children and how to feed their need for learning and connection by showing us ways to include our children in daily tasks. There aren't enough positive things we can say about this place! We highly recommend APPM to anyone and everyone!

We really felt they knew our daughter very well. It's a very gentle and enriching environment and is quite remarkable that a room full of toddlers could feel so calm and peaceful. The focus on developing practical life skills through choice fostered a lot of independence in our child. There is a lovely outdoors area for exploring nature and they learned a lot about gardening. Ms. Julie is extremely knowledgeable and communicates well with parents, I learned a lot from her myself. My daughter is aging out otherwise we would be back next year for sure. I can't say enough good things about this school and recommend it to all parents of toddlers.

We feel lucky to have found Kiddie Academy in Vancouver and even luckier to have the ability to leave our sweet angel with such talented and awesome teachers. In our search for quality daycare, my husband and I visited countless centers both in Portland as well as in the Vancouver/Camas area and either had our name placed on an extensive waitlist or knew the center we were visiting wasn't the best fit fit for our family. We had the amazing luck of stumbling upon Kiddie Academy during their pre-opening enrollment period and after a meeting with the assistant director and the director, we quickly placed our deposit down and enrolled our youngest in their daycare program. The center is brand new and the technology is wonderful (think real time video monitoring, personalized mid-day updates, and end of day activity summaries). I can honestly say that we've consistently found the team at Kiddie Academy to be smart, genuine, and very caring. This center's team will actively listen, without expressing judgement, to any thoughts or concerns you might have. Every employee we've connected with thus far has been dedicated to continuous improvement; consistently focusing on optimized outcomes which benefit the children. If you have the great fortune of securing your little one a spot here too, don't pass up the opportunity! We're big fans of the Kiddie Academy and looking to the future, we're excited to partner with their team in the care and development of our child.

Unfortunately I can give a pretty good review as I got to see how the daycare was run as a parent…read morewith my work schedule. Some of the people there were awesome so sad the turnover rate was crazy, the owner doesn't like when you have an issue instead gets ride of parents and employees when you start having issues with something there. Im a school bus driver so I work with children also so there were in my duration of time being there some concerns, I have seen there high turn over rate and some in which were not competent to be hired around kids giving good quality care others that were good and nasty interactions with the owner and staff was crazy. How many times the state was contacted for complaints on the daycare one being the constant spread of hand foot mouth, there are some that are great there like Vennessa she was awesome in the infant room, Jenn seems to be good but unfortunately after being there it's a matter of time until all staff is turned over. The cook was an amazing change as the last one was not doing a good job of giving age appropriate food sizes to the 1 year class as I know as someone who gets my first aid and CPR training every other year for my job and also being an experienced parent know that the first and most important step in kids choking is prevention. Don't know how many times I picked up big bark dust chips or little toys they could choke on left on floor with no one watching in the one year class or how dirty kids are kept so your kids always sick, but what really started doing it for me is when I witnessed them leaving children with no shoes on playground and they have these huge bark dust chips that not only the babies shove in there mouth, they are quite the slivers they can get in there feet and infection from a bad enough sliver or injury. To me it's straight up neglectful to not put kids shoes on for safety, at my job there are a lot of common sense things we do as drivers to take care of children to ensure their safety, especially so as a special needs driver so for me when I see this it's unexceptionable and neglectful as one morning I brought my daughter at 6:30 am and came back at 10am after my mourning route to bring her shoes as we rushed out of house in her socks and forgot her shoes and the daycare actually had my daughter outside with no shoes in the bark dust out on playground her feet were cold to me this was absolutely not acceptable and i questioned the common since of those that thought that was ok to do. Also my 1 year old was being taken outside in pouring rain clothes soaked and dirty and left in them even with a change of clothes in his bag, he was getting sick from being out in the cold and left in soggy wet clothes. And the bitting is what also did it they allowed a child to behaviorally bite my children a total of 6 times and others peoples kids without taking any intervention to keep it from happing again. Just not acceptable to ignore issues and remove people for bringing it to their attention I don't recommend this daycare very much some neglectful things witnessed here. Also when I was in the back playground to get my daughter there is an unsecured spot in the fence that I have seen little kids squeeze through, also 2 times the people opening at this daycare have not showed up by 6:30 and parents are waiting in Parking lot and for me if im past the 10 minute mark at my job they have to cover your route and send you home without pay which also would have made me loose all my overtime for that week.

We will have our oldest child at this Fisher's Landing KinderCare for 9 years come this fall, our…read moresecond child here for 6 years as he started a few months after he was born. The reason we've been at this specific care center for so long is the staff and how it is run. If there is ever sickness exposure, an injury, something between two kids, etc, we are always made aware via the app and email, we have never hesitated to speak directly with the staff about our children's situation, let alone the Director if we ever felt her input or support would be helpful. Big or small, Director Megan and the staff have taken it seriously, listened to all sides, and made necessary steps to address. It is also our top priority to take our kids somewhere where the staff's priority is safety and making sure the kids are cared for, something we haven't had to question for 9 years. I also appreciate that the areas where we would like to see improvement are really nothing we'd consider a "big deal" or a "make or break". First, we've at times felt there's a bit overcommunication or it is dramatized when a kid isn't "perfect" all day. What I mean is, if my kid pushed my other kid, I do appreciate being informed, but I don't necessarily need a staff member to flag me down with wide eyes and say "it was a rough day" and then proceed to tell me that's why. Other staff, typically that have children of their own, are usually a bit softer on that front, informing us of the situation, how they addressed it, and ask if we have any questions. They don't look the other way, they don't allow it to go unaddressed or let me go uninformed, but it's not dramatized and the first thing I hear when I'm seeing my kids for the first time that day at pickup. Second, KinderCare is not a free-for-all, let kids go at it, facility, however I will say I wish there was sometimes a bit more structure in the School Age classroom. It's a challenge with that many different ages, grades, schedules in one room but I know my kids have done better when it's either summer when there's a full curriculum, or when the classroom goes through projects or other planned activities after school/on short days. The last thing I want to say is while no center is perfect, I just appreciate the heck out of this staff and their Director. Whenever we've heard any wild story from our kids, or our kids are the ones who are at fault, I feel like their team is our partner in finding a solution. They care about each of these kids and are additional cheerleaders for them. Our kid's first teacher at this KinderCare from almost 9 years ago is still a close friend and our go-to babysitter.
