A very long story short... we needed a replacement passenger front window (and a rear passenger window), and we wanted OEM (of course), and the only place you can get OEM is directly from the dealer (per the window replacement business). I reached out to MINI of Ontario first, as we have been customers there for over 2 decades but they have a real issue with a real live person ever picking up the phone... doesn't matter if it's the Part Department, Service, or Sales. I took a chance and called MINI of Monrovia. Not only did they pick up the phone, but they were able to provide me with a quote for both windows, after I provided the VIN. The next day, I was able to reach a live person in the Parts Department for MINI of Ontario, but not only were the OEM replacements parts more expensive, they did not even have them in stock.
For the rear passenger window, the tint guy (who was paying for the OEM replacement) was able to order the part with my quote #, and also have it delivered to his business. Since I was paying for the passenger front window, I picked it up the next day and paid at the dealership. The dealership, like most now, charge a fee with credit card transactions, which is quite unfortunate.
The OEM replacement front passenger window came with the original box and the window was bubble wrapped. Since the box noted it was from 2024, it had been sitting in storage for over a year. Granted, because I was afraid to damage the window by unwrapping the window (prior to giving it to the window replacement guy), I didn't realize there were a few small light scratches on the outside of the window. (And our window replacement guy either did not see it or did not tell us - if he had, I would have brought it back to Monrovia to exchange for another, prior to installation.) There was no issue with the rear passenger window, and our tint guy is very meticulous. He inspected it upon receipt and tinted it right away.
The process from arrival to leaving the dealership did take a bit of time, I guess everything is manual. Since there was a coffee machine, I had thought to grab a hot latte or something while I waited, but there was no milk in the machine. Instead, I opted for hot coffee, but thank goodness I had not taken a sip yet because as I walked to the right of the coffee machine, there were more than a dozen ants crawling up and down the right side of the machine. I was so grossed out that I just dumped out the coffee in the bathroom sink.
For a Wednesday afternoon, the Service Dept was not busy at all, and would be a nice alternative to bring our MINI here for service instead of MINI of Ontario. Overall, service was good, people actually answer the phone and their prices for parts were quite competitive. MINI of Monrovia is located near the 210, near the many other dealerships. The parking lot is a bit small, but it seems to be the standard for all MINI dealerships. read more
