I only came back because of the cheap manicure/pedicure deal because the pedicure included a paraffin wax but now that they don't include it, never coming back again. As I said earlier I got a mani pedi, they filed my nails unevenly. It's only been two days and it's chipping and cracking from the middle. They only did two very thin layers even thought they put a bunch of paint thinner into the bottle before they used it on me. It was so thin that I could see through my nail with the paint on it. read more

Like finding a good dentist, hairdresser and therapist- finding a new nail place can be RISKY...you never know what you are going to end up with after your first time- so after moving to the 'hood I decided to check this place out. My nails are important to me as well, not just something I do on a whim, but like going to the grocery store finding a place that can do my nails is important. It is busy and open 7 days a week. This is a no frills place with a bunch of regulars who seem to like to "hang out". I always silently enjoy hearing about the boyfriend drama and other local soap operas that are happening (ladies we all have ears...be careful about what you share at the nail salon!) I am an acrylic powder/ nail polish/ gel girl- kind of old school- but works for me... Mai was able to hook me up in a jiffy and they looked like my regular nails- this was a plus....next time I might skip the pedicure- feet were placed in a bucket of water- no frills here- I could do a much better job at home with my OPI selection there...they were a little slow- I spent 2 hours here on a Friday night, but super nice. I'll start off by saying--I've been coming to see Mai at MiNi Nails for over 6 years now. She is awesome. Their hours are flexible...they are open until 7:00 PM every day, and will take you even if you walk in five minutes to 7. Awesome selection of colors--they have the latest in OPI and Essie...and if Mai likes you, you can even special request colors. Most importantly, it's CHEAP. They recently upped the price a dollar (first time since 2006), but it's still only $20 for a mani/pedi. Mai does the BEST French manicure ever. And the manicures last on average about ten days. In the mani world, that's almost unheard of! Mai also does a great job with waxing. And, you can call ahead and make an "appointment." I knocked off two stars for a few reasons: A) Their "appointments" are a joke. You are somewhat of a priority, but for the most part, expect to wait about half an hour, especially on the weekends. B) Terribly difficult parking. I realize it is the city, after all...but there've been times when I'll be looking for a spot to park for over 20 minutes! Then when I finally do snag one, I need to come prepared with $6 worth of quarters in order to park for about an hour. Yikes! B.) The ambiance isn't all that. It's small, definitely snug, and they'll move you around if they need your chair. Also, they don't offer any water, or tea. Alas, I guess the old adage is true--"you get what you pay for." read more

The ladies here are WORKING. I rarely go in when they aren't trying to juggle a few walk-ins, handle some lady who needs some waxing in the back and appease the regulars who thought that making an appointment would get them in right on time. It will get them in close to on time. And boy, the prices are cheap. That is why when you get a manicure here (unless you opt for the gel) and you, say, make guacamole the next day, it will be chipping. But that is what you paid for: a lovely, enjoyable rubbing and de-surfacing of your feet and/or hands. Not anything that was going to last for weeks. You might find that some ladies use their own fingernails to scrape the excess polish off of your fingers when they are being painted and things go outside the lines. Just be ready for them to do that instead of use cotton and polish remover. It is a bit harsh but very effective. I would recommend this place to anyone giving themselves a little "me" time on a weekday, never to a bride for a big occasion. read more

My friend and I were looking for a place to wax our brows, and looking at all the reviews, we decided to come here! Good thing we did, 'cause they're AMAZING! I didn't really want to wax them, but after seeing the results of my friend, I decided to go ahead and do it. Most places only clean up your brows, but they shaped them! Now I have perfectly shaped eyebrows (: If you're not used to plucking, then it might hurt because the lady plucks a lot so that you won't have one piece of hair in the middle of nowhere. We didn't schedule an appointment because we weren't exactly sure about waxing today. The place was really busy so we waited for like 45 minutes. If you're in a rush, I highly recommend scheduling an appointment because you never know how busy they're going to be! My friend also got a mani. Her nails were so uneven and chipping and yea you get the point HAHA But when they were done, oh gosh her nails were beautiful!! Even. Shiny. Gorgeous! $16 for the brows ($8 a person, but both of us did it so yea), and $7 for the mani (or was it $8? totally forgot haha) and we gave $5 tip I believe. Came here while I was visiting my Vietnamese friend, and we both got mani pedis. This place is pretty tiny, so we waited a while before it was our turn. We were too lazy and tired (from Bay to Breakers) to go somewhere else, so we just waited. The services were OK... I picked a really nice color, but the lady who filed my fingernails didn't do a great job. They came out kind of uneven, and the edges weren't completely smooth. But whatever, I can deal with it. I think the thing that knocks off the most stars is that the whole staff was talking shit on all the customers in Vietnamese (even the lady who looks like she's African American). I'm not Vietnamese but my friend is and she understood every word they said. They were continuously referring to one woman (who was super nice and sweet and even said 'God bless you all' when she was leaving!) as "the fat one". They also made a comment about my friend's fingers, saying that they're weird or something. They should probably be more careful of who they talk about, especially when they see someone Asian come in. Good place if you're coming to get a cheap mani/pedi. But the staff will probably talk shit about you while doing your nails. read more

I'm sad that my first Yelp review has to be so negative, but this place is GROSS. After finding this place through a good friend's recommendation I had an okay experience my first time - it was inexpensive and the manicure was average/fine. The second time around I went here I noticed how unsanitary it was. The dirty brush used to clean the foot soaking part of the chair was particularly notable. After coming here for this pedicure, I contracted a terrible MRSA STAFF INFECTION on my lower shin. I understand you should not shave your legs before going to get pedicures, as your pores are open, but I never expected this! I've been getting pedicures for years, but never have I been so disgusted by the hygiene of a salon. I absolutely cannot think of any other way I would've contracted staff on my leg. I made an appointment for 5:15. I got there ON TIME. I didn't get into the chair until after 6. It was bad enough that they didn't respect my schedule and time, but they took someone that walked in after me at 5:30. They greeted her by name, so theoretically she was a regular. I'm not one to bite my tongue, and I asked several times how much longer til my appointment started, and was told "soon!". Once I got into the chair, my service was much less than stellar. The woman completely skipped the "foot massage" part of the pedi, which is part of the reason I shell out $$ for someone else to paint my toes. I asked her to please rub my feet a little (which is awkward enough), and she proceeded to roll her eyes and make a half-assed attempt. During the mani, she cut my cuticle causing quite a bit of bleeding. This occasionally happens, I get it; but the way she handled it was unprofessional. She asked at the end "oh, how did you do that?" when I was bleeding, like it was my fault. I asked for a tissue to wipe it and she tried to put a bandaid on. I explained that a bandaid would not do well on my fresh nail polish, and finally another customer handed me a tissue. 2 stars only because the paint on my nails took awhile to chip. read more

I come here to get a mani and pedi every few weeks. I find this is the best manicure you can get for your money. The place is pretty small, so there is often a wait, but they try to get you in and out quickly. Mai is always very friendly and accommodating. First of,f I want to say the ladies that work here are very kind and I appreciate their hospitality. With that being said the job the did on my overlay was mediocre at best. There's polish on my cuticles which I could've ignored if they bother to trim my cuticles. The blend between my real nail and the acrylic is non-existent ( in my opinion point of fake nails is to have them look real). It looks like I have bubbles for finger nails. I'd recommend coming here for a mani-pedi (gel or standard) but would steer clear from their acrylic services. read more

I came here for the first time yesterday after searching on yelp for the best inexpensive nail salon in my 'hood. I have a shoot today and my photographer really wanted me to have acrylic nails and a french mani/pedi. So reluctantly I went in. I say reluctant because I haven't had acrylics for 8 years now. I know how bad they are for my nails. I was in and out in about 1.5 hours. Everyone was friendly and took good care of me. Reasonably priced too, $40 plus tip. The were gentle with me as I was a bit sensitive to the chemicals involved in getting a full set put on. I'll definitely start coming here going forward for just my regular mani/pedi after I have my acrylics removed next week. It's a great value for a wonderful service. Great location, clean spot, and nice staff. I notice they have a massage chair you can hang out in while you wait, in case the trashy magazines aren't enough to help you pass time. ;) read more

I really wanted to like this place, But it didn't happen. First I picked out my colors then they sat me to the table. They didn't have a massage chair so they massaged my foot for like two mins maybe even less, After they were done with my nails I looked to see if everything was in order I saw couple spots and I heard the lady saying in Vietnamese Oh my god! Wow that little spec and shes going to still complain about it. I was pretty like wow I bet you don't think I know what your saying. When I got home I didn't do anything that could of messed up my toes they were messed up sadly. I think I'd come back for a wax or maybe give them ONE last try because my first experience wasn't that great. read more

This has to be the worst place besides finest nails on polk. the mini nails staff is both RUDE and unfriendly.. somebody needs to talk to the owner about the people he hires.. unsanitary practices....the sanitation department and health dept. should be notified...if the staff doesn't want to take you ... honey, you'll be sitting there all day, and they won't say anything to you.. just ignores you.. these three women should be run out of san francisco.. they are the poorest excuses for custmer service I have ever seen...not to mention they are all unpleasant to look at.......I have only been in this place twice and the second time was to many......... read more

Mai has been doing my acrylic nails for over 5 years now and practically every day someone makes a comment on how beautiful they look! Although I go every 2 weeks, I could easily go 3. Mai is a perfectionist and she doesn't charge extra for changing the acrylic if it lifts, whch it rarely does. When I get a pedicure it's usually done at the same time as my nails and the other girls are very good and very sweet. I love the parafin wax after a pedicure at no extra charge. Mai's eyebrow waxing is the best. As others have said, the place isn't fancy but I'd rather have great looking nails any time! read more

I have been going to this place off and on for about, I don't know, 10 years maybe? It's a simple salon, not super fancy, but everyone here is awesome. The price is right too, for $19 you get a basic, but great mani-pedi, which includes a paraffin dip on your feet (ahhhh! so nice!) and a decent hand and foot massage (which is hard to find at some nail salons!). Most of these ladies speak little English, but still take the effort to make conversation with you and make you feel comfortable, which I think is very important in the service industry! Mai is fluent in English and Vietnamese and helps translate some of our conversations when necessary. She's a great lady and I'm always happy to see her, but I've never been disappointed by any of these women! I stray sometimes to different salons with friends, but I always come back here! I've brought many friends here over the years for a little pampering, and they've all been happy with their services. read more

I had been going to a waxing salon in Sunnyvale for years and since i moved to the city have been looking for salon that is professional as well as cheap! Mai satisfies both those requirements. She is brilliantly fast and super cheap which means I can go back regularly for my waxing. Yes the place is nothing fancy and may seem a little run down but she uses new sticks and the wax rollers looked clean to me. She also puts a fresh roll of paper on the chair of every client. She is also the quickest waxer I have ever seen and has a great eye for those stragglers. She told me she's been in the beauty business for 17 years. I've been coming here for 7 years to see Mai for eyebrow waxing. I've never once had a bad experience - my eyebrows always come out the way I like (and Mai always asks to make sure I'm happy with them after each appointment). Mai is also very flexible. I often drop by with no appointment due to my work schedule. She'll set the appropriate expectations around how long it'll take to get to me based on her other appointments. She'll also keep me updated if that timeframe changes. Either way, she always manages to find time for me when I do drop in. In sum, Mai is awesome, and it's because of her that I've only gotten my eyebrows done here while living in SF! read more

agree completely with lara on this one. they give great inexpensive manis/pedis here, but if you're going for atmosphere, this is not the place. it's not nasty, but it's far from lovely. either way, it's my nail shop of choice :) ------------------- i went back here after a bad mani/pedi at Quince Spa in Potrero Hill, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they'd remodeled. they removed their foot-spa chairs, and added some more comfy seating for the waiting area. also, they got rid of the ugly wallpaper, and re-painted using various colors. it's still not chic, but it looks much cuter. and what i said before still stands. they do a *great* job here for small monies. $19 mani/pedi. can't beat 'em in my book! read more
