Ming's at La Cantera... WOW. We ordered the smoked pork belly buns, teriyaki crispy chicken, and lemon crispy chicken, and I have to say, we were incredibly impressed. Let's start with the chicken... because THIS is where they got it right. No heavy, overpowering sauces drowning everything. You could actually taste the chicken, the quality, the seasoning, the texture. The crunch? Absolutely on point. The lemon chicken was light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet or artificial like you sometimes get. Same with the teriyaki, flavorful without being too much. And the sides? Don't skip them. The steamed rice was perfectly done, the broccoli tasted fresh (not soggy ), and that coleslaw... HELLO. So good. And those smoked pork belly buns? Soft, flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Overall: Clean flavors, great texture, and everything felt intentional, not overdone. Definitely coming back. Our first time here and was impressed with the cool open atmosphere and decor upon entering. Our server was fabulous and happily explained the menu and made suggestions, since we were newbies. She suggested the buns were a must since that was where Ming's got started and was well known for. Soo, buns it was. Well worth to get the Happy Hour Trio of buns- chicken, pork belly, and bbq pork $12 Absolutely delicious!!!! Each bun small and mighty, but packed with their individual flavors. We split each bun in half amongst the two of us to sample each flavor. My fave personally was the chicken and least favorite- pork belly, it was a little tough and chewy. For dinner we each ordered warm noodle bowls. These bowls were large, ya could possibly share between two people. Each had freshly portioned ingredients on top. The cilantro lime bowl had a very mild cilantro flavor, but the pork belly chunks were juicy. My sweet potato noodle bowl was not what I had pictured it to look like.. with sweet potato.. I envisioned orange or purple noodles : D our server noted it's the starch of the potato that's used to make the noodle. The added beef had good flavor. Their brunch was pretty good. Not very vegan friendly for my friend but he was able to order off their normal menu when he asked. I got the pork belly benedict and swapped the potatoes for fries which I enjoyed. I think the meat could have been a bit more tender. Went on Sunday for lunch with friends. The location was very empty at the time due to our timing. We were surprised to be handed only the brunch menus, despite learning later we would be able to order from their typical menu. We got the Belly Benny, which was excellent but a tiny portion size for the $16 price tag. Overall, the food felt a little gimmicky, as it felt like the presentation was prioritized over the actual flavor. I had lunch here on a weekday. It wasn't too busy. They have waiter service. They have inside and outside seating. They did tell me outside seating is dog friendly. I also saw a bar area. Happy hour is from 2 to 7 and all day Monday. I started out with the summer noodle bun and the cucumber Hugo. The Cucumber Hugo was refreshing and pretty strong. The bun had good flavor. For my main meal I got one of their lunch specials. Their lunch specials are not advertised so ask about them. I got the cilantro lime soy noodles with tofu. The lunch specials come with a protein and a drink. When you order your noodles from the menu, you have to add your protein for an extra charge, so this is a good deal. If you get a lunch special, you can get a spring roll for a dollar as well. The noodles were good, but they were kind of dry. A little more sauce would have gone a long way. The food is really good.. the buns and the rice bowls definitely tasty. Their frozen margaritas is also another pretty solid item. Where they lack is the service side. Unfortunately the service tainted the experience overall for me. It was my first time there and I just didn't know a lot of things. For example, asked about fried rice and said they can do it, but it's not on the menu even though they too tried to looking for it. Someone more knowledgeable about the menu, and possibly a little more confidence would've made my experience better because it was frustrating; especially with so many menus lying around on the table that are all different lol. Most menu items have shellfish in it somewhere which sucked as it limits people with shellfish allergies. The food took longer than it should've when it wasn't busy. The manager apologized and at least he acknowledged the longer wait for the food. I will try this place again and hopefully it's a better service experience. But you got try the food! We discovered Mings through offline and decided to give it a try. We were there during happy hour so we sat at the bar. The entire restaurant had a cool vibe but the bar is a work of art in itself. We ate off of the happy hour menu so we had a variety of steamed buns and an order of dumplings. The steamed buns are so delicious, they are little works of art with wonderful compliments to the meat they are filled with. The light fluffy buns are perfect and the service is great. Service was good, and Diala was very informative and personable. We saw Ming herself on the line with her staff! Highly recommend the Vietnamese coffee. Then we started with Bao Buns. Two of each. We got their crispy dumplings, 4 buns and a chicken bowl to share, and it was perfect! My only complaint was I didn't realize the price of a fountain drink. Great Bartender, ambience and prices on everything. The bar area is small but cozy and they have an outdoor patio tho. Happy Hour drinks are pretty decent not bad at all. Finally decided to give this place a try. Definitely was avoiding because it sounded like an upscale Panda Express. Thought it'd be more authentic but another asian fusion place. It does have happy hour drinks + food. Decided to try old fashioned and margarita. They did accommodate for less sugar but I didn't taste any lychee flavor in the ming's margarita as advertised. The big rock in the old fashioned was neat. food: not great... came in a bowl. Side salad, protein and rice. The other stuff on the menu such as noodles etc, they want you to add a protein. Clean spacious restaurant that appears to do both counter serve and full service. Full service is in the back, by the bar and bathrooms. For counter service, you literally order at the register first, then apparently you'll get a number and you select a table to sit at. They offered us full service, stating that they had a staff member currently undergoing training. Actually, our waitress did a fantastic job explaining the menu, suggesting menu items, and explaining the food that came out. We also inquired about the pin (similar to the dragon on the menu), and she told us that those were for sale for $10 each. The pin identical, except that the dragon is green instead of white. Also, when you finish your business in the bathrooms, and exit back out, you'll see some embroideries hanging on the wall, which is a nice touch. Getting back to the food, we opted for the Crispy Shrimp Dumplings, which consist of two pieces each of 3 dumpling shapes. They have crispy shells, a nice shrimp filling and are tied closed with a fried green onion. It came with a nuoc cham dipping sauce. For buns, we found that the Smoked Pork Belly Bun, Thai Shrimp Bun, and Summer Noodle Bun were hits. We didn't really enjoy the Bulgogi Bun with cheese, because it was quite literally a burger meat chunks, which was an interesting cop out for bulgogi. The Smoked Pork Belly was thick cut, and the Shrimp bun contained two large shrimp. Payment could be accomplished by QR code, allowing for a speedy exit back into the spacious parking lot across from Six Flags Fiesta, and this time, the line to La Panderia in the same plaza ended up being much shorter. read more

The restaurant itself is spacious, clean and really nice. I knew what to expect for the food. New Asian cuisine isn't something that I really like. I ordered the potato noodle soup. Not enough noodles and too much veggies. The broth is very weak but again I knew exactly what to expect before going I got some sort of orange soda which I really loved and ended my meal with the rice pudding which I really did love too! The service was really really good. Carlos was very prompt. I got my food quickly and then trying to take a picture I dropped my whole phone in the soup lol. Came in here on a Saturday and it was cool, Clean loved the decor, Juan behind the bar took very good care of us and we had the bulldog fries, wings, and a couple of different buns and it was awesome. I would absolutely come back. An excellent whiskey selection as well. read more
