Starting from left Chicken Drunken Noodle, Chicken Basil Fried Rice and Basil Fried Rice
Nanda K.

I finally had the chance to visit Baan Thai restaurant. The basil fried rice with level 1 spice was a delightful choice, especially with the addition of extra eggs and cashews--it sounds like a tasty combination. My cousins, opting for the chicken basil fried and drunken noodles at higher spice levels (4 and 3) said the spice level was intense flavorful. I felt the portion sizes for the cost we paid was less. The boxes do not come filled up to the top. It's something they need to work on. We got some red chili paste and chili powder. They were good in taste and flavor. Will come and dine in again to try some other dishes.

Mango and Sticky Rice w/ Mango

Unassuming from the outside and typical strip mall set up, nice waitress but had no recommendations. I got my stand-by pad se ew- it noodles had a nice chew and it was tasty- I would get extra Chinese broccoli next time- if you like spice and not the white pepper kind, there is some red pepper siracha like paste on the table. However the real piece de resistance was the mango and sticky rice- I could leave off the sour cream type sauce they put on the top- but uh huh, I'm going back for this. Sticky rice seasoned to perfection, amazing sauce and the mangos were nicely rioe and sweet.g

Amazing Thai food! Extensive menu, but they have "popular!!!" written by their more famous dishes. The pad Thai was really really good. At level 2 the spice was barely there, could easily go a 3 next time. Their spice levels go from 1-5. My husband and I tried fresh vegetable rolls, chicken pad Thai and beef bbq. We left with leftovers and a big smile on our face. The food was well seasoned and great portions. The bbq was worth the $20 as the choice of beef was fresh and tasty. You could taste the soy sauce marinade. Typically I find pad Thai to be slightly heavy but their pad Thai was light yet filling. The veg rolls had a nice combo of bean sprouts, basil, carrot, romaine. I probably wouldn't order it again at $7 but the peanut dip that came alongside was memorable. I'd try another appetizer next time. The place is casual and a little warm inside. it's a chill place to grab dinner or lunch. FYI they're closed from 3-5pm Monday to Saturday but otherwise open 12-9.

I've been here a dozen times and honestly the food just gets better and better everytime. Right away we are greeted and while we wait to order they waitress brought over vegetable soup. Great flavor. If was full of different vegetables which paired nicely. We ordered our chicken pad Thai and pad cashew which was spicy. I love spicy food so I felt my food had just the right amount of spicy. Once again will definitely be going back to enjoy this meal again.

Pros - They open on Sundays!! (BUT they close on Saturdays) - The thai tea is actually an affordable price ($2.50), and it's super tasty! - They offer a complimentary salad bar if you sit in to eat there - We ordered the thai basil fried rice and chicken pad thai, and the food portion was a decent size. I loved how flavorful it all was! - The cashier was super friendly and was quick to hand us menus when we walked in for our to go order - ample and easy parking - plenty of seating Cons - The boba here is NOT fresh...I saw it sitting out and my husband said they were kinda hard! - Interior is a little dark, wish they could brighten the place up a bit! It's not exactly a place I'd want to stay and eat in. I'd feel more comfortable eating at home!

First time: service was cool-shoulderish but the food was fantastic. We were all BLOWN AWAY. I thought the price a little high for what you get. I swear, there was an issue with my order. I'm telling you now...I didn't order the tofu, so when they delivered it to my table I asked....but they showed me my receipt, which said I did. I was skeptical, but whatever. I think the touchscreen ordering screwed me... Y'all, I wouldn't order tofu in a million years, I don't like it...but ended up eating the entire dish. It was fantastic! Talk about being surprised. Today, was extremely careful on the touchscreen when ordering, and went with the beef curry and chicken. My thoughts when it came out: is there even any beef in this? This is soup, not curry. Oh, and it's not even hot. It's barely even warm. Then, a co-worker was legit served the wrong dish. So, she goes to bring it to their attention, and the server borderline argues with her ...basically telling her "yes, that is what you ordered" - even though she had a receipt showing otherwise. Service is not friendly. Food costs too much. Ambiance is a mix of hole-in-the-wall, eclectic, retro...walls covered in weird posters. I like the vibe, seriously, I just wish the food was worth it and the people were nicer.

Building looks a little sketchy from the outside, but so does everything else around here. Seat yourself and grab a menu on entering. This is a mom-and-pop shop, which I love. Try, in this given year to frequent a place maybe minutes from you. I am surrounded by spots I have never tried before. I am guilty of passing up a business based on its facade. Soups & Rolls definitely fits in this category. As I stated in my last review some of the best flavors in the city reside in the most precarious places. This place, which provides flavorful Vietnamese and Chinese fare is no different. It is another place in the Westside that quietly makes fantastic food. It used to be a Central American restaurant but in this area nothing is permanent. When I went the mistake was parking in the back. Not a problem, as I went to the proper entrance. In my opinion the age of Instagram and Tik Tok has aided bias on the part of the patron. Customers are seeking places that have an ambience to document their experiences. Via photoworthy posts on social media or selfies. So much so the meal becomes secondary or an afterthought. If you are expecting a giant dragon with waterfalls or a modern lighting that highlights the room you will not find it. Its table and seating is very humble, as the owners. We sat down and one of the friendly servers took our orders. Their menu is extensive with pho, lemongrass chicken, spring rolls etc. In addition they do carry some Chinese dishes in case you aren't into Vietnamese fare. But what cruel human being wouldn't be? I have always wanted to try a bahn mi for the longest time.. The thing is I'm not into pork. The owner suggested a beef one. I ordered that and a mango boba tea. My partner ordered spring rolls and a bowl of vermicelli. No sooner was I looking at the tiger painting on their wall did all food items arrive. Everything was hot and fresh. The bahn mi was gigantic. It was a huge french hoagie roll stuffed with beef, carrots and cilantro. I must confess I'm not a fan of cilantro but it fit here perfectly. The meat was tender and flavorful. It came with accompanying fries. I tried my partner's spring rolls and they were some of the best I have ever had. The rolls were fried with an equally flavorful filling. In addition the mango boba was really good. I like the consistency of mine to be thick. If I stick my straw into the boba and it stands straight up I know it is good. The chef came from the kitchen to check on us. He tried to explain that the bahn mi and the torta are very similar. But then again most cuisines share a commonality. I understand people's hesitancy to try a place in precarious neighborhoods. I implore you to try a place in your locale. If not, and you are up for an adventure please check out "Soups & Rolls" in the Westside. The service and food are both excellent. Next time I'm getting that big bowl of Pho with extra Sriracha sauce. First, I have to learn how to properly pronounce it.

I ordered the crispy dumplings (pork) and spring rolls as appetizers, and the spicy noodle soup as my entree. My server came to take my order, and brought me the items as they were ready. The entree came out before the appetizers. The spicy noodle soup was spicy (as named) and it was good, but it was incredibly oily and the noodles were overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. I would definitely recommend ordering this with rice, or taking it home and making your own. The dumplings and spring rolls were crispy, but nothing special. I did like the duck sauce they had -- I would have asked my server for more of it, but she was busy in the back or something, not sure. I wish she would've checked in on me a bit more during the visit so I could have gotten more napkins and sauce. The service was alright. I wish I would've gotten checked on a little bit more, but she was nice and helped me pack my noodles to go. Overall, this spot wasn't terrible, but if I had to choose, I'd probably try another place.
