Do not go here. Had a horrible experience with friends and none of us left happy. Not sanitary at all used same tools on each of us with no disinfecting in between. They soaked my nails/hands in acetone for an hour and my hands were super dry and peeling after. My nails felt like slime from it. The techniques for our nails were sloppily done and had no attention for detail. Also left all our toes looking like little nubs. Cut our nails way too short and poorly. All of us are worried about now getting an infection in our nails. They also had one poor guy running around for multiple people while the other techs just sat there watching him suffer. We all felt bad for him. All of us felt ripped off for how much we spent for such terrible quality. Not only that I picked the $29 pedicure and when I went to pay they charged me $69. I would have never got it if I knew they were gonna tack on all these random charges. The staff also were not that friendly. It was all our first time and now it's also our last. read more

First time here. I enjoyed that two people work on you at once for a mani and pedi. I had a gel manicure and when the gal trimmed my cuticles two of them were bleeding. She finished and my nails were a lil raw. I had warned the gal doing my toes that I had blisters on my heels and to avoid that area. She did not so I left with my ankles bleeding. We love coming to Mingee's! They ladies are all so nice to my daughter and me. We have mother daughter manicure/pedicures for special occasions and my daughter always looks forward to coming here. We've tried other places locally and they just don't treat us the same. I'm pretty simple with my nails so I just get gel or dip on my natural nails. Nothing special but my nails last forever! I also love the extra massages they offer for a charge. My daughter always gets a design and it looks adorable. This time she just got flowers and polka dots. She's gotten sharks and fish before and got so many compliments. I just love coming here because of how nicely they treat both of us! read more

Do not patronize. Have a condition where skin on my heels grows too thick. Asked them to take some off after a pedicure. Cost extra. That's fair. But they didn't do it and seemed intent on trying to come up with excuses why. There's a sore there! No skin is so thick it cracks. Oh you have to come back More often. No I have had this done in Other cities and they were able to help. Just know and be warned what kind of place this is. Horrible. read more

Maybe I'm a nail snob... but right off the bat I was leery of this place because I've heard "stories" of places where they don't speak English and rush you through and jack up prices without you understanding them. That's what happened. My friend surprised me with pedis for my birthday. The lady was so abrupt and cold. You can't just get a pedicure, you have to read the fine print on what you want and what types of polish and all that crap. I was a nervous wreck the entire time because she brought out a drill and a pick and scraped my feet SO HARD that it was uncomfortable. My feet aren't bad, I get a pedicure once every couple months! No need to scrape the crap out of them, lady. She never said thank you, never even smiled or looked up at me. Just picked up her stuff and went to another station to work on someone else. I will say that this place seems pretty popular, or was at least busy, on a Sunday afternoon. So maybe my uneasiness was just the horror stories I've heard of other places and the actual rudeness/disinterest of the employees here. Once done, the polish job looked like I could have done myself. Kind of thick and wiggly edges. I'll stick with my regular place, but thank you for the birthday surprise. Sorry to give a bad review on one visit... but my uneasiness was warranted with the say I was treated. So far no infection, so that's a plus! read more

Was in town for a girls' weekend. We walked in on a Saturday at 11:30 with no appointment and they were able to take us immediately for a gel manicure and two pedis. The woman doing my finger nails was great; I have delicate cuticles and she was very gentle with them. I also have weird shaped nails on my smaller toes and the woman did a good job. I went in for a fill. I guess when you get a fill they charge you for a full set, but they go so far away from the cuticle that myself and others noticed it looked like a week+ worth of growth. Nothing wrong with a fix up, I work up the street and figured they'd just fix it up. (Nails uneven, polish was jacked, and the said growth look) I got treated horribly. It was less then 24 hours and the manager asked if I was sure I was in the right salon. Got treated awful. $66 for a fill. If your desperate go on in. She was a sweet heart after the fact, but it was almost torture to be in there. If you're local avoid at all costs ps- I was charged for the fix. So basically a $100 FILL. It took 2.5 hours to get a pedicure and a gel manicure. And not a great pedicure either... I wanted to get dip on my fingers, but they only had 10 dip colors to choose from, and more than half of those colors were ugly, so I decided to get gel instead. I came here on Tuesday to get a full set. They were very kind but when I came home I just noticed how completely messy they are. The gel polish is lumpy, the tips are uneven and then nail shape is inconsistent. I'm bummed out because there were not cheap. I am leaving town tomorrow and cannot get them redone. I've been a little busy to come and update this review, but I'm extremely disappointed. I had my nails on for about 5 days and 3 of them fell off. I work from home on a computer, so it's not like I'm hard on my nails. In the past when I had gone here they did a great job. I'm not sure if when management changed, that their products did too? I was just amazed that after 5 days 3 nails had fallen off. At that point I ended up just taking them all off... which I did by pulling... that's how loose they were.. their prices have increased and it's not worth it. I spent in total $70(including tip) where as before I'd spend $40(including tip). Anyways, the service is great but the nails don't last nearly as long as they should. read more

My mom and I came to Cali for the weekend and of course had to stop by our favorite spot! Stephanie is the new owner and she definitely works hard to make sure you are satisfied with your experience. She knew we were cutting it a little close on time( we had lunch plans with some family) so she called over another nail tech from her other salon to help out. The ladies helping us we great as well! *long post sorry *pics of my loved ones over the years and empty shop on Saturday I've never been offended or insulted by a business owner in my years of living in San Clemente. I am still shocked by yesterday's occurrence at Mingee's Nails on Del Mar. I've been a regular customer for 20 yrs; going for a pedicure no less than once a month with several of my favorite technicians. As well, when my mom & dad in law were alive, we brought them in to have their toenails safely cared for and owners & staff were so loving toward them. When Mingee's husband succumbed to a heart attack we were there that afternoon and grieved with the family and staff alike. When my extended family comes in for holidays, it's always a regular activity for sisters and nieces to go to Mingees. There is now a new owner and her name is Stephanie. While the interior has been redecorated and is clean and lovely, she could not be any less welcoming to customers and overtly unkind to staff. (It has been a difficult week for our family as my daughter's long time partner has been in the ICU on a ventilator since mid January and my daughter's had to return to work at her new job, I've been trying to fill in for her bedside, making many treks from parking lot to ICU at Mission.) Yesterday on my way home, my feet were especially achy so I decided to go up to Del Mar and walk in to Mingees without an appt, since it was 4:30, and hoped I could get a pedicure. When I arrived there were only 2 customers in the shop and the rest of the chairs were empty. Two of my favorite gals were working on one customer and owner giving a manicure to one other. I sat down hoping to wait for gals to finish. Stephanie, the owner, told me they could not take me as they were "completely booked" so I said I'd run some errands and come back. Returned about 15 min later and sat down to wait for last customer to be finished. Shortly, she approached me and told me I had to leave because "she was expecting a large group at 5:00, they were late, but were coming and had to get ready". This was so peculiar; it was like she didn't want to let me walk in and have one of my regular techs without an appt. I decided to sit on one of the chairs out front for awhile to see whether or not anyone showed up. They did not. (I drove around for a bit and came back and the store was still empty) For some controlling, bullying reason toward myself and her staff, she completely made up some bizarre story to deny me service and her staff a long time client. One other very bizarre behavior previously exhibited by this woman was, shortly after New Years, my sister and I were there and I'd just finished having a relaxing neck massage and my eyes were closed when I hear this very loud pop, pop, pop, pop and I startled as did my sister and the other customers, as it sounded gunfire. It was the owner, Stephanie, remotely setting off a firecracker decoration hanging from the ceiling. She was laughing her head off as she continued to repeat doing it. My sister, who has experienced workplace gun violence, and I with my heart racing were none too amused. There was also a man a couple of chairs down, who exclaimed he was a vet and found the experience alarming, and recounted the story of the gunshots fired in the clothing store across the street, a few years ago, killing the owner of the store. I'm not sure any of our feelings mattered to Stephanie. I'm done. I will not be returning to Mingee's as long as it is under the current ownership. I will miss my favorite technicians. Perhaps she will sell the store again while our gals are still there, and that would be wonderful. read more

Not sure why this place has an overall 2.5 stars. My friends and I were blown away by the quality of the service. I got a gel manicure, my friend got her acrylics filled and another friend got a pedicure. Very nice ladies working there, we were serviced as soon as we walked in. Extremely fair pricing.
