My overall favorite Chinese carry-out spot in all of Peoria. So good I will get dressed on a Sunday to pick up the Ming's Special Chicken combo platter. They also have spectacular lo mein. If they aren't totally slammed, food is ready in about 10 minutes or less but still tastes fresh and hot. I love their spice levels on the items marked "hot", they are still able to be comfortably consumed with just the right amount of burn. I am thrilled they don't deliver though or I would be a legit 400 pounds. read more

Ming Shee is ok mediocre at best. Not the greatest Chinese food. I only tried it a couple times because it was close to where I worked and lunch breaks were short. The items I did order were pretty funky tasting. The service was good and fast for the most part. Just not good food. Would not recommend. read more

Eh, I've got a bone to pick with this place. I'm a low carber, so I wanted to get the lunch special bourbon chicken with no rice, extra broccoli. The lady on the phone said no, you can't take the rice away. Okay, that's fine, I guess I'll get a large bourbon chicken with extra broccoli, no rice. To be fair, I got a CRAP ton of chicken. Really tasty, but I only got six pieces of broccoli with my chicken! I ended up paying $3 more, and while I don't mind the extra chicken, I 100% expressed that I wanted a lot of broccoli. Next time, I guess I'll just get the lunch special, extra broccoli, and pick around the rice... :( To be fair, the food was pretty tasty: 8.5/10. I just hate not getting what I wanted: a crap ton of broccoli with the same amount of chicken as the lunch special. read more

Ming Shee has gone down hill. I used to really enjoy this restaurant, it was my Asian Food location of choice. Not anymore. The past two times I have been disappointed. Here is what went wrong for my last trip: 1) Unwilling to allow any customization on an order. I asked about getting a General Tso's meal, but maybe sub in some dumplings for the rangoon and egg roll. Nope. No way. 2) Given an estimate of 10 minutes, I arrived 5 minutes later and my order was already sitting out waiting - this may seem like a good thing, but it meant that my order had been sitting in a sealed plastic container longer than I'd hoped, this led to number three: 3) Soggy General Tso's. The chicken was slimy and soggy, no crisp at all, and the meat tastes like it is low quality. Used to be so good, not this time. 4) Rice was under cooked - very grainy in my mouth, no bounce at all. White rice! I can't understand how a restaurant can mess up WHITE RICE!. 5) Expensive. I had wanted a dinner special but passed and go a la carte since I didn't want the rangoon or egg roll (having been disappointed in both last time I was there). The order of chicken + white rice was $3.50 more than the dinner special. What? Less food and more money? Maybe the chicken portion was bigger, but that doesn't matter because the chicken was gross. Skip Ming Shee. There are great options across the street or down Forrest Hill Dr. One is a little pricier, the other quite a bit cheaper, and both are WAY better. My first and probably last time going here. Woman on the phone that took the order, was super nice and respectful. However the food was terrible. Ordered bourbon chicken and crab Rangoon. The bourbon chicken was super bland and was more steamed than anything else pretty chewy as well. The Rangoon was super oniony and the dip was very watered down. My husband and I had our 1st date here, 42 years ago when it was a high end full-service restaurant that occupied the entire building. Superb! We loved their food (which was the ONLY Chinese food that fit my palate)! Even through the years when they down-sized it's space, the food remained consistently GREAT, until the past couple of years, 2017/2018 dropped in quality. I especially loved their Fried Rice, w/green onions, egg, bits of pork for me. The flavor is superb & wish I could get the seasonings used in their Fried Rice. Love the Broccoli Beef or Chicken plates. Only major decline from full-service to fast service was the quality of egg rolls. Size was bigger, had bits of pork & not so much of the greens, w/better seasoning. Their Shrimp Fried Rice & Chop Suey is my Husband's FAV! Moved to SC 2019 & CANNOT find a comparable restaurant which is soooo disappointing! Most of the Fried Rice in the South is gross - yellow, w/a saffron season - YUCK! Hope Ming Shee changes back to the better recipes of early years, as recent ones no longer make Ming Shee a Peoria icon. read more

The negative reviews on this do not make a lot of sense to me and are weak. Someone complaining about substitutions just because they don't want to pay a couple bucks more. A lot of places don't substitute , its not that weird and then someone complaining about carbs? Really? In my opinion this place is worth any extra amount. It is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Peoria. The food is really good quality and they don't skimp on the shrimp size and it's super fresh. The Singapore mai fun is the best in the city and the shrimp with lobster sauce dinner is amazing. Great crab Rangoon and the egg rolls are fantastic. Really great tasty food. Best for a pick up or on the go as they are quick. Customer service is just what I expect from a mainly pick up Chinese joint. read more

I usually don't complain and am very understanding that people make mistakes, but this was different. My family was unable to eat our dinner from Ming Shee. I ordered $60 worth of food last night about 2 hours before close and it was by far the WORST experience I have had with a Chinese restaurant. When I returned home to eat my food I discovered a few of my main meats were in rice boxes and leaking everywhere, the egg rolls were clearly old and double fried to seem fresh but ended up being so greasy we were unable to eat them. My chicken was the incorrect kind/sauce/flavor. MY SHRIMP smelled so sour I literally could not stomach it. We did not even attempt to eat this. Not to mention there was about 8 pieces of shrimp total In what was supposed to be a full order . We did not receive ANY white rice. I'm not sure if they are waiting on a food truck or what's was going on but this was terrible. The absolute worst experience I have had in a long time. Unsafe food and a waste of money. This restaurant was a family favorite of ours and after this experience we will not be returning. read more

Extremely fast. I go there after picking up my son from school on Friday's and I typically only have to wait about 5 minutes for my order without calling in my order ahead of time. Stopped going there for a few years when we moved, but went back and their remodeling looks much nicer. Mongolian beef is amazing. Unfortunately you have to ask and pay for extra meat since they are sparring with their meat in their dishes. Love their rice, but beware, they include sprouts, which I am unaccustomed to in my Chinese food, so I have them leave it out. read more

I used to love and rave about Ming Shee . Recently I ordered it again and it was terrible!! I ordered cocunut shrimp and it was aweful!! No cocunut taste whatsoever tasted like pure mayonnaise . the white rice wasn't even completely done. And the crab ragoon was stale!! My husband liked his sweet and sour chicken but said the egg roll tasted old!! Ughhh I am so dissapointed ! read more

I have been eating at Ming Shee since I was a kid. I LOVE their fried rice and fried wontons. The egg foo young is great. Sesame chicken is a little pricey, but a great choice for the lunch menu. Of all the Chinese places in the area, I like Ming Shee the best! read more

I usually love this place, but I had an awful experience a couple days ago. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, and when I got it, the chicken had a long black hair in it. I wanted to make sure I got new chicken and rice, so I moved the food on the plate around in a certain way so I could distinguish it. I went back up to the counter and told them, and they took the plate back into the kitchen. I sat down again, and not even ten seconds later, they put a plate of food in front of me. Sure enough, it was the same plate of chicken, and I could tell because of the way I had placed it before. The only thing they had done was take the hair out. Disgusted, I went back up to the counter and told them this was the same plate, and that I wanted my money back. They refused to give me my money back, and so I walked out. I will never go back to this restaurant again, and warn others to check before they eat there. Health regulations need to be updated in the kitchen so this doesn't happen again. read more
