I had an overnight work trip to Peoria and after a long day of driving from Detroit the last thing I wanted to do was to find a restaurant and dine in. DoorDash came to the rescue and Chinatown Kitchen came up highly recommended. I was thinking of some Vietnamese food as pho is my favorite but they closed early. I'm glad because Chinatown Kitchen was really good. First let me just say there will be enough food to feed 3 people or two hungry people. I got the happy family with chicken, shrimp, imitation crab, pork, and beef. It was loaded with tons of vegetables and a mild but flavorful brown sauce. It came with a huge side of fried rice. The fried rice had peas, diced carrots, and onion in there which I always appreciate instead of just plain rice. I also tried the à la carte pork egg roll (hot, crispy, and excellent). My friend and I wanted to get authentic Irish food on St. Patty's Day, but every place was packed and we wanted food ASAP. So we settled on a nearby Chinese restaurant that we both had never tried. I walked in to order curry chicken. I asked for the curry to be spicy. I also ordered the small wonton soup. The food was adequate but I wouldn't say it was good. The wonton soup was OK. The main flavor was provided by salt accompanied by a weak chicken broth. The wontons were pretty much the same The curry was bland with no spice at all. It was disappointing but if you want bland quick chineese food this is your place. At least the prices are reasonable. read more

Is this the best Chinese food? No. It's your good cheap Chinese dive and it's super clean and people are pretty nice. They have a large menu, affordable prices, good online coupons for freebies and they pack the food up to go really nice is sealed plastic containers. The egg rolls are delicious, crab rangoons lacking and the general TSO chicken I ordered this visit was prepared decent. Fried rice was delicious and I ordered the sauce light and appreciate they respect special requests. Will order again. By far, the best Chinese food in Peoria. The food is consistently delicious and I am never disappointed when I order from here! This is a weekly order for my son and I. I don't live close to the resturant and have gladly driven a good distance, passing a couple of other spots, just to get to them. This is by far the best place for Chinese food in the Peoria area. I've tried all of them and this place does a lot of things right. General Tso's Chicken is my go to order. I order it extra spicy and it's consistently amazing. I like to dip my pork egg roll in the General Tso's sauce. So good. My wife has ordered Mongolian and Szechuan Beef and both were delicious. Their lo mein is also delicious. Only thing is that they aren't open on Sundays! Their lunch/dinner specials give you a LOT of food so you will not walk away hungry. Go there now. I first experienced Chinatown back around '07, in the midst of a watching session for the show Heroes. I was still living in Ptown, and every Monday, a few friends and I would pick up some takeout and go geek out in front of our buddy Sven's new HDtv. Ah, to take back the days of General Tso's chicken and Sylar, together again. Chinatown is a pretty standard "Chinese" takeout -type place, but for some reason, the flavors here come alive! Their specials are where it's at. And you're not gonna pay a lot for this eggroll either. I highly recommend any of their spicy dishes, such as the garlic chicken, anything general tso's, or the broccoli and beef. They're even happy to substitute wontons for the aforementioned eggroll, thereby completing my perfect takeout meal. There are a few tables inside where you can dine inexpensively, but I recommend taking out some lunch or dinner, and planting yourself in your favorite park or sitcom situation and enjoying the bounty that awaits. read more

I went here while in college and moved to Naperville upon graduation (which has excellent food choices all around, btw). Anyway, I loved this place in college. Food was disappointing. We're at OSF and did carry out based on Yelp reviews, the hospital food would have been a better choice. The food was barely edible. I love Asian food but this needs help. We ordered a spicy pepper chicken which was very greasy and lacked flavor. The peppers and onions were barely cooked and the chicken was plain. The dish overall was a favor let down. Accompanying that was their fried rice. The veggies in the rice were raw and the rice was greasy compared to normal fried rice. The chicken rice soup was very blah. And the crab Rangoon (couldn't taste the crab) was so tough you could barely eat it. We won't go back we threw out the majority of our food, what a waste. I originally chose Chinatown kitchen because I could choose delivery if I wanted to. I found that very appealing. Also I decided to try shrimp with lobster sauce for the first time. That was probably one of the most delicious meals that I have had in a long time. I tried shrimp with lobster sauce from Ming's restaurant, but I found disappointment. I have also tried the baby fried shrimp with shrimp fried rice from Chinatown. It was also delicious. I would also recommend the crab rangoon and the chicken teriyaki sticks. The only thing that I wish was better was the delivery time, you have to spend a $20 minimum for delivery plus a delivery fee. I find myself normally waiting around 45 minutes for them to arrive. They have never arrived past their estimated delivery time. I still give Chinatown kitchen five stars because all in all everything was to my satisfaction. read more

Chinatown Kitchen is fast, has amazing online coupons, and they make some great crab rangoon and chicken on a stick. Their parking lot is one-way so make sure you turn in and go out at the right entrance. Like your typical Chinese carry-out, they have an extensive menu of what you will normally find at all other restaurants. Their food is okay. Kung Pao chicken could have been spicier and lacked in the vegetable department, both in its creativity and choice of vegetables. Hot and Sour Soup was average. I actually owe fellow Yelpers for getting me to try this one. My girlfriend and I both love Chinese food, but such a huge percentage of the Chinese restaurants here are buffets which I don't enjoy near as much as a good Chinese carryout spot. This past week, we decided to give a new place a shot and Chinatown Kitchen came up as the highest rated on UrbanSpoon, and highly rated here as well even though it only has a few reviews. I've eaten there three times since. Yes...that means I've eaten there four times in a week. I hadn't had Chinese food this good in years. The first time, I tried the house special lo mein, and my girlfriend had the General Tso's chicken. The lo mein was absolutely delicious, and for under $10 I had enough to eat for two days. My girlfriend also said the General Tso's was excellent. Since then I've also tried their Orange Beef, which was good but not great, and their Peanut Butter Chicken, which was good enough that I actually drove by there around lunch time on Thanksgiving, hoping and praying that they were open because I was craving the hell out of that chicken. Maybe I should be reserving my enthusiasm until I've been there a few more times, but these first handful of visits have been positive all the way around. The shop doesn't look like much, just a wee space in a strip mall on Knoxville Ave. Don't make the mistake of judging it by it's size. The food is great!!
