a view of a dining area with a bar

Well. . .during her work thing, I ventured out to get some lunch and found that the place I wanted to go had an hour wait. So I said to myself. . ."self. . .you're not waiting an hour." So back to the hotel I went and this place was right in the Park Place Hotel and there was a turkey sub on the board at the entrance that sounded pretty good. So. . .in I went. It was just me and when I went in the guy at the front looked puzzled as to why I might be walking in there. I actually had to tell him that I was there for lunch and it was just me. He seemed baffled. He showed me to a booth amongst the deserted restaurant and I sat down and looked over the menu. Some things looked interesting but I was after that Turkey Sub. My server came over and I decided to get a little something with my sammich so I got the Potato Nachos. When I told her I wanted to try the sub on the board when I walked in she had no idea what I was talking about and said she had to go look to see what this sub I spoke of was all about. She came back and quoted the board to me and I gave her my order. The food was good. The Potato Nachos were very good. I'm not a fan of chipotle anything but the chipotle sour cream was tolerable. Everything else was very good. The sub I was so looking forward to was just ok. I hate to say it, but I think the turkey bacon advertised was microwaved, if it wasn't, it was just bad, very disappointing. . .maybe it's because this is the hotel bar and it was lunchtime but I wish Mama Lu's wasn't as busy.

Absolutely ridiculous prices, I understand prices have went up everywhere but we aren't in New York. A sandwich and soda shouldn't cost 25$!

I think Minerva is Greek for slow service. 40 people at the bar and one bartender. If you want a drink... bring one with you.

We made the reservation a month in advance and still had to settle for 8:30 time slot. But it was absolutely worth it! Incredible doesn't begin to explain this restaurant! First, it's in the middle of a neighborhood. The name is perfect because it's literally a house. Very small which explains the need for reservations. The biggest stand out for me was the impeccable service! Your glass is never empty. If you get up, your napkin is promptly refolded. This was absolutely 5 star treatment. You also receive several courses with your meal. The food was OUTSTANDING. The menu changes frequently which is awesome because you'll never get bored. There is an Ala carte menu and a tasting menu. I was told to expect two hours for the 5 course tasting at 3 for the 7 course. Being that it was so late we stuck with ala carte. I honestly can't wait to plan a full tasting but it will have to be well planned out so I can get earlier reservations.

In the meantime, while watching the James Beard Awards, I noticed they were nominated within the same category as one of chef's from our hometown Cincinnati! The place is actually a house, and we were seated right next to the kitchen. Our server, Dillon, was great. We were happy that we both didn't have to order the tasting menu, so I had it, and my wife ordered a la carte (this is the first place we have been to that you can actually order whatever way you would like, nice!) The wine list isn't huge, but it is nice that the glasses are all the same price. As other reviewers said, there is a lot of staff for the 25 seats in the place. We were offered a pickled Amuse Bouche and a mushroom tea that we could have had every day. It was SO good. Here is what we ordered and what we thought; Starter - Smoke whitefish salad- very good and the fish was delicate and fresh. Loved. Gemelli pasta- they were absolutely fine substituting other cheese for the goat cheese, which we don't care for. We had one with blue cheese and one with parmesan. Both were great and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Whitefish with Tom Yum Vinaigrette - first time having whitefish and it was excellent. Flavors on point. Would order again and again. 5 course tasting - Cucumber Buttermilk Soup - light and earthy tasting, and very pretty! Gemelli pasta - see above New York Steak - didn't appear to be a strip. It was chewy and a little gamey. I had to pull gristle out of my mouth a lot. However, the chimichurri sauce was fantastic and the potatoes were buttery deliciousness. Grilled Turnips - unique flavors. I was getting full so I didn't eat all of it. Lemon Posset - perfect ending. Creamy and lovely. We had the pleasure to talk to chef Calvin because we were right next to the kitchen. He specifically talked to us about what cheese we would prefer on the gemelli, and then when I asked where he likes to eat in town, he suggested a few places. He checked in on us regularly throughout our meal, which really made the experience intimate and personal. He also made some browned butter for our excellent bread because we didn't care for the goat butter...nice touch. They are deserving of the kudos and award nominations they receive.

We bellied up to the bar and the tender was full of fresh energy. Very personable and made us feel excited to be there. We started with bloody Mary's and they were great! Also had a few on tap beers and a really good, not overly stuffed eggs and bacon breakfast. Perfect sized serving. Whole place just has a very good vibe and it starts your day off in a positive way. Would highly recommend this spot as it seems they have really set it up in one of the most perfect ways. My only gripe is the parking lot is a bit small, can be tough to park larger vehicles at prime time.

We got: -crab cake, slightly over-breaded and a little dry -mussels, pretty good! -steak frites, steak was good, fries were fine -wedge salad with steak, steak was wildly overcooked and barely edible (which is weird because the steak in the other dish was cooked perfectly), salad was fine just a normal wedge -partly cloudy NA cocktail, good! -lemonade, just okay The service was great, the restaurant was busy and the vibes were good which is why I debated giving a 4. It seems like a lot of locals like this place so it feels like it might be a popular spot and have quality food compared to other restaurants in TC.
