Had dinner there last night with my wife. It started out very slow, in fact we waited at our table with only empty water glasses, silverware and napkins for about 15 minutes before I was able to get the attention of a waitress to get menus. Two other tables were seated, orders taken, and one was served before we got our menus. I ordered the rib stack at the advice of the waitress and my wife ordered the fish and fries. The ribs, 3 double bones, came out hot but they were not smoked as advertised. They tasted like they were boiled then had sauce applied. They were tasteless and so tough my table knife barely cut them to separate the bones. The mashed potatoes were barely warm and dried out, and the grilled asparagus was poor quality. Half of each stack was woody and inedible. Also no taste like they were boiled not grilled as advertised. Not AT ALL worth $29. The deep fried walleye that my wife had was very good. Served hot & crispy and cooked perfectly. The tartar sauce was good but that's where it ends. The coleslaw was terrible and the fries would have been good if they weren't all soggy. $23 was too much for only good fried fish. The meal as a whole was overpriced for the quantity and quality of most of what we were served. There must be better places with more attractive staff in the area. This was disappointing! read more

Loved this beautiful place. Great views and a fun location. The buffet was definitely on the higher end side, with many gourmet options so I would say the quality of food definitely matched the Price point. It's also in a super convenient location! Our server and the manager were both very friendly and welcoming. I wish their hours were a little better, but they are great at what they do! read more

I'm really confused at the bad overall rating. We ordered carryout breakfast and it tasted better than the 3 star rating. Had pancakes, bacon which tasted smoked, breakfast sausage, pineapple. Also had dinner there and the steak and salmon were both good. Steak was cooked perfectly, just not as tender as I would have liked. The "risotto" with the salmon was just cheesy rice but good. I think this was a really fantastic experience (summer '24). I went in open minded with the reviews not being that stellar. Breakfast buffet was very well put together and managed. Items were fresh and replenished often even though there were only a few other tables seated. Service was great, our servers and hostesses were very outgoing. We stopped into the Wild Tomato after our Surrey ride and we are sooo glad we did! We were visiting from Florida with another family so we had 4 adults and 4 kids ages 6-10 with us. Shay was our server and she was above and beyond amazing!! As you can see from the picture, our kids gave her a 5 star rating and made us promise to write a review about their favorite server ever. She was so friendly and connected with them (sitting at their own kid table) immediately. Thanks for adding to our amazing snowy vacation and for making our kids feel special. The kids all loved their food choices and their Shirley Temples while the adults enjoyed their entrees, especially their truffle fries. Very overpriced. To make matters worse, the restaurant has employed odd tactics to give you as little food as possible for your money. I ordered the grilled salmon BLT for about $20. Unfortunately, instead of containing a piece of grilled salmon, it had little tiny bits of grilled salmon. A complete ripoff for the price and quite frankly, it seemed like a bizarre attempt by the restaurant to give me as little food as possible. I will enclose a pic. My sons kids burger was so small that he burst out laughing. Whatever guys. Your lame attempts to scam your customers is blatantly obvious and seriously annoying. This is my first timing staying at Crystal Mountain Resort and I have to say everything has been wonderful and I hope to be back soon. After reading the other reviews I felt compelled to write a review on my experience. I was greeted promptly when I arrived for breakfast and immediately served coffee. The server stopped by right away offering another drink option and asking if I wanted a menu or if I was going to choose the buffet. After looking at the buffet which had everything! I chose the buffet. Weather you want to indulge in sweet cinnamon rolls, French toast or pancakes or stay on the healthy side they offered everything! The concept is local comfort food and they deliver! It was hard not to overindulge. One person commented on the $14 price which to me for what was included he value is amazing. Can you get breakfast priced lower? Yes but you also don't receive this many options with beverages included. They even made me a coffee to take to go when I was finished. read more

Really enjoyed the resort, but the Wild Tomato leaves a lot to be desired. The breakfast buffet is ridiculously expensive. The food is okay. The service is absolutely terrible. They don't check on you for a long period of time. That happened all 3 times we went here. Dinner was also okay. One of the visits, everyone in my party chose from the buffet, but I decided to order from the limited menu. After everyone got their food, and was already nearly done, we had to go and ask about my food and they had forgotten about it. Food is very bland. Again, this place has a huge opportunity to rebuild their menu. This resort is great, however it needs better restaurants. read more

We had breakfast here while staying at the resort. Good food, friendly waitress. One thing to note: when you're first seated, you'll be given a menu which describes the buffet. Half way down it will say omelette $6. That is an add on to the buffet. If you don't want the buffet, you can request a menu. You can get an omelette on this other menu however it will cost more than ordering the whole buffet...... it was a bit frustrating to me. Their freezer Jam is delicious. Came here for dinner. Initial impression was great in the focus on local foods. I had the chilli and it was good although disappointed on the lack of bread or cornbread that would normally come with chilli. We enjoyed the pretzel cheese fondue app. Overall food was ok. Atmosphere was good and our server was friendly although non-existent for much of the meal. After starting off good and quickly getting things ordered, the mains came out fast but then things started to go downhill after our food came out, with the server seeming to go AWOL for long periods when our waters were empty. We decided to order dessert and regretted it after waiting what seemed like a really long time with no updates from our server. It took a while to get the bill and pay. I also noticed other diners who had a constant look of mild annoyance, waiting on this or that. So, a promising start and disastrous finish left a bad taste. May come back and give it another try because I respect the overall mission of the restaurant which is "up north comfort food" focused on local and seasonal ingredients. I find this to be a mostly-adequate and sometimes great restaurant. They offer a variety of foods, some of which are quite good and some that are just average. Thus far, I have not eaten anything really terrible here. The service can be fairly slow to terribly slow at peak hours, which really sucks when you have hungry kids with you. I also noted that they don't open for breakfast until 8:00 am, which seems a little late for such a place. They also tend to open after the posted time (only by 5-10 minutes, but it's annoying to be stuck waiting outside the closed doors first thing in the morning.) The breakfast buffet is very good. I have never had anything that wasn't fresh or properly done. They have a fresh omelet and waffle station, which is always a hit. The rest of the buffet is really great as well with a plethora of fresh and healthy options as well as the standards like pancakes, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, etc. For dinner, there are several great options. I recently had the chili and the grilled salmon, both of which were better than I expected. Perhaps a bit overpriced for what you get, but it's not surprising when you realize that you're at a resort restaurant. Really, if the service was consistently better, I would bump the rating up to 4 stars. read more

I am amazed that this restaurant can exist within a resort. The staff seemed like it was their worst/busiest day with half of the tables filled. Im not sure if it is slow hostess, waitstaff or kitchen, but my family of four all ordered basic meals and were served over and hour later. No apologies, just a smile as if we didn't notice the 5 tables seated after us were served first. Don't come to this place hungry, with no sides included in main entrees. A neighboring table was served 1 slider!!! when a complaint was made it was brushed off and not acknowledged. really shocked that people could be paying a lot of money to stay at this resort only to have crappy meal service. read more

My boyfriend and I had breakfast here on Sunday, it was fantastic! I really have no complaints. I went with the blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon and eggs, and it was perfection. The food was great, the restaurant sunny and inviting, and the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating ( they even snuck us a few waffles as the breakfast buffet closed). We came here for dinner before a music concert in the Crystal Mountain Legacy Art Park, as it seemed to be a cheaper and quicker option than the nearby Thistle Pub. The staff, at least our server Melanie, was the nicest thing about this place. She was very congenial and efficient in helping us make the concert on time. At around $4 each, the tacos are overpriced, but the fish taco was the best of the bunch. Lightly fried fish, not overly fishy or salty, and satisfying on a summer night. The outdoor seating was pleasant, but none of the tables had umbrellas, so bring your sun protection. read more

Worst meal I have ever had for almost 90 bucks! Ordered a couple beers, ribs, 2 adult fish dinners and one kids. Waitress brought out mystery beer, not the Two Hearted ordered. Next the meal arrives, all wrong. No Cole slaw, wrong fries etc. When we inquired we were told she is new, as is the cook. Ribs were pretty obviously a microwave reheat, dry and tough. Took 3 trips to the table to get everyone their Cole slaw. All in all a lousy meal. No refill on waters, searching for our missing Waitress. No manager ever came out to inquire about our meal either. The Waitress did apologize but when I am paying to stay at a resort, stiffing me for 100% of a lousy meal is ridiculous. SOMETHING should have been comped or a free dessert or some effort to make up for a terrible meal There are MANY options for almost $100 all in with tip-- don't make the mistake we made with this one! read more

Service from the manager and waitstaff was incredible! Attentive, helpful, even assisted in finding the gluten free options in the restaurant and offered custom entrees in place of other options. My complaint is NOT about the people or service, those were as good as it gets in my opinion. Absolutely top notch and they should be proud. My complaint is that they are currently set up as a buffet, which was tasty (though not to the highest of food-snobbery standards by any means), but for the unreasonable price of $20 per adult and the more understandable $6.99 per child we should have just gotten a pizza or ate somewhere fancier for the same price. I believe the buffet is temporary and I would love to try it again when their menu is in full swing. At over $60 for a night at the buffet, I wasn't real happy, which was a shame after the INCREDIBLE service we experienced from a truly formidable staff. read more

Only breakfast place on the Crystal Mountain Resort campus. They offer a breakfast buffet for $14, which includes beverages. If you order a la carte from the menu, you have to pay separately for your coffee and/or juice. So no matter how you order, the bill ends up being the same price basically $14-15 per person. Very expensive for an egg, a pancake or toast and a piece of bacon or sausage or two, IMHO. The food is just barely passable. There are much better options very close by if you are able to drive off campus. read more

The staff here are SO rude and not friendly. We waited 25 minutes to get a menu after we have been seated. I asked for a drink and it took my server 10 minutes to bring it. This is ridiculous. Eat somewhere else. read more
