I started eating these fried pies in 1974 while working on the railroad in the east Texas area. While stopping at the small convenience stores, I saw them right there next to the cashier. Since them I have discovered them at my local Brookshires here in Haughton, la., my mom used to make fried pies at home when I was a kid and now, I buy them on every visit. These are the best on earth, the crust is like moms, and the apricot is my favorite. I will order some this fall on-line, thanks for the memories and fantastic fried pies. Les read more

The pies are somewhat regional, but are a real treat to locate a supplier. Fried pies in Northern TX and Oklahoma are a regional delicasy.. And Mindy Lu doesn't disappoint. At a 1/2 price point of National its a great value, and not as cloying as the other glazed-style brand. read more

I really hate to say this. Mindy Lu's pies used to be the best pies on the planet. They were, years ago, now they seem to contain enough preservative to choke a horse. I can't even finish one these days. The last one of two apple pies I bought, I threw the one I was eating in the trash, then found the unopened one and sent it flying through the air after it. Recently I've bought mine at Albertson's on 287, who's bakery is a disaster too. read more

Excellent customer service. Ordered 24 online and received my order very fast. Much fresher tasting than what you find in the stores. Those with the low reviews should stick to Little Debbie fruit pies. More fitting for those with the palette of a child. read more

They have the "sweet" down, but the flavor is absent. Strawberry Cheese Cake was decent but Apricot and Blueberry were sweet but flavorless.

Ordered a case online for custom flavor picks. They arrived within 5 days of ordering. They are perishable so should be eaten within 14 days. I'm hoping I can freeze some of these. I'm originally from Texas and grew up eating fried pies and wanted to try them again. These are kind of like I remember from childhood. They are not glazed like the commercial Hostess varieties (which is a good thing IMO). So far we've sampled the chocolate, coconut and lemon. These cream filling are really good; particularly the lemon. It really hit the nostalgia spot. Would definitely order again, but would want to make sure I had an audience to supply them to. read more

The package said blueberry but inside was peach. I ate it was good. Not sure if I would trust buying blueberry again.

They are not terrible but for my money with this kind of pie, I prefer Hostess or Mrs. Baird's pies. The crust has very little flavor or richness and the pineapple filling was so-so. I've seen them at my Randall's grocery store for a long time so I'm happy I tried one to see how I felt it stacked up to other's out there. read more

These really are good pies...when you can find them fresh. I've bought far too many lately with the filling so dark, tough, and rubbery that I could have replaced the souls of my shoes with them. Horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE!! If you like stale, hard, communion bread or cardboard with peach flavored glue, then you will like these. They should seriously have a class action lawsuit like Taco Bell with no meat, these things have no fruit. I'm pretty sure the glue is flavored with fake fruit flavoring too. I hope this site lets me post pictures. I couldn't find where to post to google reviews. I am pretty sure anyone that left good reviews were paid for damage control or rewarded. Just received an order of 24 fried pies. I was excited to receive them, but now there is only disappointment. To say they are awful would be an understatement. Their website states that the crust is the secret. But that is what is so awful. Not only does the dough have a strange taste, but is tough. Not flaky and tastes like they were fried in old oil. It looks like we will be eating a lot of filling without the crust, because the dough is going in the garbage can. When fresh, fried pies from the corner quick stop are far better. I picked up 4 dozen apple pies for a company event and although it's a little far from downtown Dallas it was certainly worth the trip. I was greater ever so nicely and the pies are fresh. They tasted SO good but the have a large assortment. The fed ex showed up and the staff gave him one. These folks are so sweet. I heard coconut cream is the best. I decided to try one of these pies after seeing them at a local Tom Thumb and since then I have been absolutely hooked on them. Not just me, but my family well. I sent them a box a few months ago and it seems like, at least once a month, they're asking me if I'm going to send anymore! Haha. I eat them straight out of the pouch they come in and they taste great. *just as a note. I did try heating one up in the microwave once and, to me, it really had a negative impact on the crust and the overall taste, so I would not recommend doing that. read more

For the past few months, I have been buying a Mindy Lu's fried pie at my local Tom Thumb store every now and then to satisfy my sweet tooth. Lately, however, the selection at the store is always "picked over" when I arrive. All that is left are flavors I would not buy. I looked on the label and tried to contact their website (as listed), but received the message "page not available." Then I just "Googled" their name and found their actual website -- obviously a "typo" on the wrapper. They offer a mail order service where you can order a box of 24 pies, your choice of flavors for $30 including shipping. I ordered mine Monday, just for fun, and just received the box (Tuesday morning). Couldn't have been faster if I lived next door. I love it, nice folks to deal with and rapid, accurate service. Mindy Lu's, I'll be back even though these are not the most healthy thing for me. read more

I had see these at the local WinCo store in Denton and decided to try one. Apple flavor. I wasn't really expecting much but was greatly surprised! The crust was actually flaky and the apples inside were plentiful. I will try more flvors. read more

These pies are so good. If you have not tryed these pies you better. I eat 1 or 2 of these a day.

If I could give them no stars and still do a review, I would. My opinion is that these are not real pies. My pie was nothing more than a package of pie crust with a tablespoon of flavored, thickened sugar water. Don't bother and don't think these will satisfy your craving for a fried pie. They won't. Plus 300 Calories!~!!@#$%^&*() Go have a piece of a real pie for that amount of calories. read more

I usually buy these fried pies at my local Albertson's in Fort Worth. In the past they have been very good. But the 2 I bought today were not up to the usual standards. One was pineapple and the other was chocolate. Neither had any taste. All I could taste was crust, and this left a bad aftertaste that lasted over an hour. Don't know if they taste better if bought directly from the shop or if the recipe has changed. Just know I won't be buying any more of these in the future. read more
