I went with the Chicago Green Box after doing a quick search on Yelp and am happy with the experience. Scheduling the box delivery and pick up was seamless through their online form. I appreciated the routine confirmation reminders via email as the dates approached. The boxes themselves were sturdy and clean. I ended up not needing to zip tie any of the boxes during the move. My only small complaint was I had scheduled the boxes to be dropped off and picked up from 9-11AM, and both times the team was here before 9AM. The first time, I was admittedly still in bed half asleep when they called to let me know they were there, and the second, was on a work call. I had to ask the drop off/pick up team to wait a few minutes each time. I recommend calling the customer the day before to check in if pick up outside the set time window works for them, or at the least, sending a text the morning of to confirm they are available. Will be recommending Green Box to my local friends and family for their moves!

They protect themselves with their lengthy contract to ensure they have zero liability with your future and belongings. After sending numerous emails with no response, I called to speak to them about the damages. Richard was quick to tell me that I was lucky he took my call since he just returned from a long trip to Italy. This made me feel like my concerns were not important and he was doing me a favor by taking my call. Before hiring Collins Family Movers, pay very close attention to the damage/liability exclusions in their agreement. In my experience, those exclusions were like a green light to be careless with anything they can later say they aren't responsible for. When they damage your property, don't bother talking to Richard as he will make you feel like it's your fault for trusting them and not moving certain things yourself. I paid $1,600 to move a one-bedroom apartment with no appliances, yet apparently the best option would have been for me to move certain belongings myself. If I'm hiring and paying professional movers, I expect my belongings to be handled carefully whether or not a contract says the company will reimburse me if something gets damaged, but this is not what I got with Collins. Boxes clearly labeled for specific rooms were put in the wrong rooms. It was as if they couldn't read. I had to carry heavy boxes to the basement myself. Again a concern dismissed by Richard, but a service I paid for. A large, extremely heavy armoire was placed without anyone asking where I wanted it, and now I have to find someone to move it because it is sitting where my bed needs to go. It is unrealistic to expect a 60 year old woman to move this heavy furniture, yet all Richard could say was "where were you" as if I was unavailable. There was no sense of urgency from the moving team. It literally took three hours to load my one bedroom apartment. Mind you when I moved a year ago with Alamo and the same belongings, it took half the time. When I expressed this concern to Richard it was dismissed and excuses were made. I had to unwrap all of the furniture myself just to get them out of here because it was taking them so long. In addition the movers took an over one hour to make a drive that took me 20 minutes, while I was paying by the hour, equating to over $110 overpayment. Also, know that your trash cans will be filled with their shrink wrap because they do not haul away their own packing material, also in the contract but in my opinion a dis-service to the customer. The shrink wrap was used in place of moving blankets, which would have been a more sustainable and safer option. I've now used two different companies. Alamo Movers Inc. took roughly half the time with essentially the same belongings and provided a far better moving experience, with no damage to my property. The cost was about half as much as. Furniture was carefully moved with no damage and placed where I wanted it. When they were done I was satisfied unlike this situation.

I was quoted $1500.00 but ended up paying $3020.00. I will warn everyone I know to steer clear of this service. My friends ran a moving company until last year, and in three moves, I've never had a job take this long or cost this much, even with nearly double the items. Hands down one of the worst, and agonizingly slow, ways to be ripped off. Oh and if you do use this service, don't take anything but their $0.60 per pound insurance, there's some mind numbingly convoluted equation that the "manager" discussed with me about the extra $100 to $1000 that I might be paying because of what chose to value my move at.
