If I could leave zero stars I would. Beware of this company, they are unreliable and unprofessional. My husband contacted John on April 25 to schedule a move for June 5 at 9am. We reserved via text message and John confirmed the meet time at 7:30am on June 5. All communication was done through text where we received the quote for two hours. We thought we were all set. On June 4, my husband received a call that the movers were at our apartment. We told John that it was not the correct day, however he tried to say we were wrong. We sent a screenshot of the previous messages and he confirmed that was his mistake. At that time we again confirmed that he in fact would have his team meet us the following day, the date we have scheduled a month prior. He requested if we could move earlier, at 7:30am and we agreed. In addition, we confirmed the price. John claimed that he had quoted us a minimum of 3 hour charge, but again that was not true. We sent him the screen shot where he quoted us 2 hour minimum of service, so he once again had to accept his own terms. The night of June 4, almost at 11pm we received a call from John that he was short a worker and was requesting if we could meet at 8:30-9am instead. Again, my husband and I agreed. On June 5, we waited a bit after 9am and began calling John and texting. We did not hear anything at ALL!! I tried calling from my fathers cell and all I got was a text message saying he would "call us back". After I replied letting him know of the situation, again RADIO SILENCE. We did not get any sort of call/text/communication from John letting us know that either the movers would be late or not be able to make it. That is extremely unprofessional, poor customer service, and just plain rude. We had been very understanding and accommodating to work with John but he did not even have the decency to call us and communicate regarding the situation. John at first seems very friendly and responsive, but in actuality his is incompetent of running the business successfully. The least we would have appreciated was communication. read more

I called this company on a Thursday to get a quote for a move on a Saturday 9 days out. I spoke to the owner who said he would email me a form to complete. I completed the form, text confirmed he received it and also sent him a sheet showing everything I needed moved. Which was produced by our last moving company. Our stuff is packaged and ready to go as it is in storage. Sadly, I never heard back from the company. No email or response to several texts. Because of COVID19 & being at high risk of complications we've been staying home to avoid exposure. My refrigerator started going out and I started to panic. I found a used refrigerator in town that I was interested in but they couldn't deliver it. So then I tried getting creative and looking for a moving service to help me out. I called MINDFUL MOVERS and explained that I needed a no exposure, no contact delivery. I was able to pay by app, and we spoke on the phone to explain where I would like the refrigerator left. I'll start out by saying I was not an easy customer to work with. Over the last 10 years I've moved 8 times to 3 different states from the east coast to the west coast. I've worked with a lot of movers who were unsatisfactory & I'm jaded. Suffice it to say I was pretty defensive with John & was nitpicking with contract details. He was patient with me & still kept me as a customer; I would have probably let me go though. He did his best to reassure me that everything would go as planned. Even going so far as to coming out to my house to sign the contract. The day of the move wasn't perfect, but no move is. He is exceptional at communicating. I never felt worried he bailed on me--I've had movers stand me up before the day of the move. There were a few hiccups but John compensated me financially & offered to take additional items to my storage unit for no extra charge (I was downsizing from a 3 bedroom townhome with garage to a 2 bedroom apartment). What I enjoyed the most about John was his attention to details & honesty. He provided a ton of input on how to arrange my furniture as I struggled to vision how it would all fit. He & his team were careful with moving my things, and he was completely honest about anything that may have gotten scratched, damaged etc., (there weren't many). In the past I found out there were damages too late & I knew the movers saw them but never said anything to me during the move; John didn't do this. I move constantly for work & I'm a little bummed he isn't based in the Sacramento area. I highly recommend him & his team. If he did long distance moves I'd pay extra to have him move me in the future. He will not disappoint. read more

If we could give ZERO stars we absolutely would. We found this company on google. Scheduled the move for a specific date at 9am. The DAY of our move we were told that they had another job up in shaver and were running late so now we would have to wait until 1-2 pm ... once 1-2 pm came close we got another text saying he tried to call us several times, yet we had not ONE missed call. He then told us that he was involved in a collision coming down from shaver and one of his men had to go to the hospital. At this point we were very frustrated and felt like we had been scammed since we already paid a deposit via cash app. We decided to get our own UHAUL truck because we had stuff that needed to be moved that day. We got another call from one of his buddy's I suppose who came in a pick up truck with another guy and helped us load the u haul and unload it. These two guys were not associated with mindful movers but helped us tremendously. We were then notified that mindful movers lied about the collision because the first job paid more so they needed an excuse to get out of our move. I will never recommend this awful company to anybody. As you know, moving takes alot of scheduling and they destroyed our entire day. They carried everything- washer, drier, sofa, etc- up the hill with inspiringly positive attitudes. I can't believe how easy this move was. I hate to give a 1 star rating. My experience started out great in the beginning. John was extremely professional, polite and friendly over the phone when I called to book their moving service on a Wednesday, 8 days prior to our large office move. He even came out the following day to take a site tour and view all the office furniture we needed to move. We emailed and texted about move details but the last time I heard from him was that same afternoon. He promised a contract would be emailed to me by Friday but it never came. The following Monday and Tuesday I texted, called, emailed multiple times to follow up about the contract but he never answered. We were supposed to move that Thursday. By Tuesday afternoon I was very stressed and had to spend the next half a day trying to find another company that was available within 24 hours. I never heard back from John and will never call this company again. Super disappointing and not worth my time or stress. (Side note: I found Courtesy Movers within 24 hours who was extremely professional and reliable - plus they are licensed. They brought 7 men and 2 trucks and the whole experience was extremely positive.) read more

It's impossible for me to review based on quality of service because they cancelled on us the day of our move. The owner contacted us the day before to let us know that he was ill and in the hospital, but that they would be able to make the appointment the following day. We were then contacted the following day and asked if we could push the appointment back later in the day. We were then contacted to let us know that they could not show up. We asked why the employee's couldn't show up on their own without him, but he said he wasn't comfortable with that. Here is the thing, it sucks that the owner was having medical issues and that was ultimately the cause for them cancelling on us, but you should have someone trained on your staff to be able to handle a job if you aren't able to make it. I took off from work to move that day, and we had to scramble to find another mover the next day (Which I also had to take off from work for) costing me more money. Also, we had to rent our own UHAUL to do the transport, and as such we were out that money as well. Using Mindful Movers costed us money, and we ended up having to pay someone else to do the job. They may be great at what they do, but I wouldn't know. I have to base my review on my experience, which couldn't have gone worse. The other company I ended up having to go with told me it was also extremely strange that they don't have a truck and customer is responsible for providing or paying them for a UHAUL. Something about that makes him believe they may not be licensed. I can't speak to that, I know nothing about moving business, but he said that was a big red flag. read more

John and his team are the absolute business! I'm so pleased with their work, and I'm so relieved to have found them here on Yelp. It's the only moving company with 5 stars across the board, and as a small local business, I hoped they would have the resources, availability, time and care, and prices that I could count on. They performed across the board. I used Mindful Movers to move out of my apartment and into my new home. We'd just bought a lot of brand new furniture about 6 months ago and these guys were so careful with everything, they really live up to the name! It's worth bearing in mind that they don't have a company van, so you have to hire a van and take care of that insurance. Since we were near where they were located, John offered to do this for us with their local U-Haul partner, and factored the cost into his final invoice, which saved us a lot of hassle! They also bring their own smaller van which helps to transport odds and ends. Initially, I spoke with John (the owner) on the phone and he asked some general questions to give me an estimate and some pointers on what they would expect walking in. They'd had a cancellation for the upcoming weekend, which worked great because my house had closed earlier than planned and we wanted to move ASAP. He also promised to come prepared for rain and had a solid plan to protect all our furniture from it, though it ended up being a beautiful, dry day out after all. The guys arrived on time after giving us 20 minutes notice and walked through with us to find out exactly what we needed to move and ask questions, then they set right to work. We paid $125/hour for 3 guys. They took a room each and started to get our furniture wrapped up in cloth and cling wrap to keep it all protected. They worked efficiently and quickly and loaded everything into the truck expertly - it was one full truckload for all our big belongings and a handful of boxes, and we transported some smaller boxes and bits and bobs ourselves alongside. Once they followed us to our new home they took another tour around with us and made sure they knew exactly where we wanted everything positioned. They started unloading, reassembled the bed, and hooked up the washer and dryer for us. I haven't noted a single scratch and we haven't had to move anything significantly since they finished up. In total, the whole process took around 5 hours, and honestly, these guys really made it enjoyable. I also enjoyed chatting with John for a bit while they were packing things up, and learned about how he got into business. He's really passionate about what he does and - it bears repeating - really lives up to the ethos in the name Mindful Movers. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to heartily recommend this business. I have moved a lot in my life and I have experienced many large and small moving companies. From beginning to end I was pleased with their service. The owner John is very responsive and super friendly. They were available with less than a weeks notice, and I was unsure two men would be enough to move two residences but I was wrong! They were super fast and straight to business. They didn't try to stall and get another hour out of it. They have all the proper materials to keep your furniture safe and didn't charge me a materials fee which I was grateful for. I was really stressed about this move and I thought this was going to be the most stressful part but I was wrong again! I didn't have to lift a finger and could focus on other parts of my move. They were on time, wrapped up all the various glass pieces, took apart and put back together my bed, grabbed extra things that they didn't even have to grab! Loved - the uniforms and positive attitudes, care taken wrapping furniture, and the ability to completely stuff a 26 foot uhaul with all my items, including an ungodly amount of houseplants and a small tree. After starting to unpack no major damage noted - one small scratch on a MDF dresser which is expected. Only negative - they are so careful with your stuff (and I think did some Tetris to fit all of my items in the truck) that it did take longer than other moves I've had with similar volume. 8 hours with three guys, but they did a great job. read more

NO-SHOW, LIAR, FRAUD BUSINESS, NOT A LEGITIMATE MOVING CO are the G rated words I can use to describe my experience with these dirt bags. *Do not choose these guys*. They did not show up the day of my move. At first it seemed like a great decision to go with these guys. They had overall good reviews on Yelp, I spoke with John the owner several times and he quoted me a price that was about 50% less than Meathead Movers. The morning of my move he called me at 7am and said he would be there at 10am instead of the appointment time of 9 because he was having trouble getting the uhaul truck. I wasn't worried yet and was glad to get an update from him. Well, he didn't show up at 10 and didn't show up at ALL. I tried calling him and texting him almost every hour and I kept getting his voicemail and no return call or text back. Around noon it became clear that John and Mindful Movers were giving me the big shaft and I was on my own. I had to be out of the house in 24 hrs and I was totally screwed by John and his CO. I couldn't believe a company would do this to someone. Moving is already stressful and I couldn't believe he wouldn't answer my phone call and tell me WTH was going on. Around 1pm I realized I was on my own. Within 30 minutes I was able to secure my own 26 foot uhaul and moved my entire home myself that day/night. Now that I have had time to look back here are some RED FLAGS about Mindful Movers. 1. They didn't ask for my credit card or any payment info anytime during this entire process booking my move date 2. His contract ( what he calls it) is an email he sends you and you reply back to him if you agree to it. 3. He doesn't have his own trucks 4. Over the phone he told me that he would have to collect taxes if I used a check or credit card and he basically wanted me to pay cash and he wouldn't charge me taxes. John will probably reply back to this post like he has on the other one star reviews with some lame excuse but it won't do any good. The truth is out. He and his company are a total train wreck and I hope that others can read this and choose a different company to move them. read more

I contacted the owner John to schedule my move after I had already had movers the previous day not show up from another company. He was aware of the situation and he assured me that they would be there, sent me a contract detailing the terms of the move, which I completed and returned. Movers were scheduled for 7:30 am the next morning. No movers ever showed up. I tried contacting both of the phone numbers I had for the company, sent text messages, asked them to at least please let me know if they had no intention of showing up. I received absolutely no response to anything, which resulted in waiting in the 100 degree heat for hours and trying to figure out how to complete my move. Completely unprofessional and wildly inconsiderate. At the bare minimum I would've at least appreciated a phone call or text message that nobody was coming or that they not even schedule the move if they had no intention of actually following through. Especially considering we had a contractual agreement. Mind blown. If you're looking for somebody professional, that stands by their word, and gets the job done, absolutely look elsewhere. read more

Turns out it took longer and charged me for 3 hours. Over the phone The price was 130/hr in person he changed it to 150/hr. They didn't finish the job and were to return the next day they didn't show up or bother to call. So I had to hire someone else to finish the job they started. They over charged me. I made the moving arrangements for my daughter who is located out of state. She is by herself and needed some muscle for the 'big' stuff. I was concerned about sending men to her place but I felt at ease when John handled my call. He was friendly, polite and very professional. He answered the phone on multiple calls (it didn't go to an answering service like other companies I called). He took the time to listen to exactly what was needed and gave me a fair price that never changed. My daughter said that they arrived promptly just before the scheduled time and was prepared with the necessary tools to get the job done. My refrigerator didn't fit into any door, so John took the patio door off in order not to scratch the fridge or the door. And then he carefully put it back.
