After going through an intensive online application and further communication with one of the people there, I agreed to come visit and was asked to bring my friend as he lives on my property and will be an influence in a new dog's life here. The nice lady I was talking with explained that although she will not be there on the Saturday I was to visit but assured me that the shelter manager would be happy to talk with me. It is over an hour away so I wanted to make the most of my visit. I also brought my two much older dogs with me in case there was an opportunity to let them meet each other. When we arrived we were met by two volunteers both pleasant young ladies and an occasional third young man. We met the puppy and even took her for a walk down the road. The place was empty of other visitors and the parking lot was empty. important. I get it that they care about their dogs and want to make sure that they find nice homes. but.. Apparently the shelter manager was too busy to speak with me even though she was the only one who could say anything that wasn't a part of their 'script' and it was she that I came to talk to and whom I had made the appointment to meet. They would not allow my dogs to meet the puppy and insisted that the next step 'had' to be an in home visit. Again... just repeating their script as they had no authority to do anything other than repeat the script. So we left with assurances that they would be in contact with me to arrange said visit. That was over 3 weeks ago and still not a word from any of them, not a call or even an email. I am an older gentleman who owns my own home with 3 acres of land alongside of a river with an additional 35 acres of land next to me for walks and I have owned dogs my entire life. I have no idea what their issue is but this is a pretty crappy way of dealing with someone who wants to provide a home for a dog from a shelter.

My boyfriend and were glad to find a kennel that could take her as we had and emergency to go take care of. When we dropped rose of at Devonshire the staff was helpful and seemed to care. This made us feel comfortable boarding Rose there. However, when we picked her up, we knew we made a big mistake. We asked how Rose did and the only thing we were told when we came in the door was, she did great. First rose was terrified of the guy that brought her out to us and rose isn't afraid of anyone. The dog hates getting in the car, but she flew out of my arms into the car she was shaking so bad. We have left her with other people before and she did not act like this when we picked her up. Second, they just threw her in a cage and didn't pay any attention to rose. We sent blankets, toys and her bone with her but when we picked Rose up, they didn't even know which blankets were hers and when they finally found her stuff it was packed just like we left it. Third Rose lost weight she looked sick and frail. She was starving she dove into her food and ate faster than I have ever seen her eat. She was also extremely thirsty. Rose couldn't stop drinking water. Finally, she had diarrhea for a week, and I mean very runny diarrhea. We only left her there for 3 nights. Rose shouldn't have been in such bad shape. We feel like she would have died if we left her for a week or more. We will never and I mean never use Devonshire pet lodge again. Rose did not do great instead she was neglected big time.

So we asked around and decided to give Devonshire Pet Lodge a chance for two nights while we delt with a family situation. Oh my word, we came to pick up our dog and the door was shut in my husbands face to wait outside. Then when they came back to the door, My husband asked how was she? They told us she was one of the sweetest dog they have met. When we bent down to love on her, we saw our 2 year old little dog was shaking so bad that she ended up peeing on the ground. The person that was handing us our dog smacked her on the nose and yelled at her. My husband told her never hit my dog again! All the way home, she cowered in the back of our car, shaking and whimpering the whole drive home. Since being home, she will not come out of her bed, nor snuggle us, not even to eat nor drink anything. This is not my purebred Siberian Huskey dog. She usually is ecstatic to great our kids and to get on our property to go say hello to all the chickens, rabbits and ducks. I will never take my precious girl there again.

Worst groomer I have ever been to. DO NOT COME HERE! They add hidden fees for being "bit"... but…read morewhen asked about it she can't recall the bite, it was more of just a "snap"... but again she doesn't recall because she groomed so many dogs. So if that bite was so bad that you need to charge me an additional $50, why can't you recall it? If you have to have a fee that you add for so many dogs biting you, maybe you shouldn't be a groomer. I will be looking into her license and reporting her. My poor pup is super razor burnt, and her little face looks horrible. She has been groomed her entire life and I have never had any issues or her not liking clippers like she said. She only did half of her face! (See photos) If you want to be scammed for hidden fees and a terrible hair cut this is the place to go. The owners response to this and her other reviews are ridiculous! Penelope is our family dog! So to assume she isn't my dog is absolutely ridiculous. And my mother only tipped you because she is a nice person and we believe in tipping people period. Even if everything wasn't up to standard we don't want to hurt peoples livelihood, take the tip and the criticism and move up and on. Good and bad reviews help companies know what they are doing good and bad at.

Monty is a rescue pup and is very shy and unsure around people. These ladies completely understood that a dog who has been through trauma sometimes needs extra patience, gentleness, and kindness. They were prepared to give Monty the time and care he needed instead of rushing him or making him uncomfortable. That means so much to me. It's not just about giving a dog a great grooming--it's about understanding the dog in front of you and making them feel safe.
