I first want to say a big thank you to Tanner, Jerry and Madeline for such a great experience! Tanner was so knowledgeable in so many diverse subjects! Jerry and Madeline worked so hard to make sure all of the guests on the trip were well taken care of. This was a 3 day two night food and wine trip and Chad from Dusted Valley Winery made sure to keep our cups full and was very informative about his winery. I felt so relaxed and pampered and it was just what I was looking for. As for the food, it was fantastic! From scratch made s'mores and hors d'oeuvres to black cod and steak it was so delicious! We floated the Grande Ronde river on a three day, two night food and wine trip and had a great time! The crew was fun, hard working and we never went hungry or thirsty. My partner and I recently came back from a 4 day/3 night Wine and Food on the River trip on the Lower Salmon River, and we loved every moment of our experience. Grant and his crew are professional, yet warm and friendly, experienced, and passionate about both the outdoors and food. Our meals were restaurant quality. The winery featured on our trip was Gifford Hirlinger, and it was wonderful getting to know our winemakers. We camped on gorgeous white, sandy beaches on comfortable cots. Grant and Lottie were great when I called to ask about a float down the Grande Ronde, adjusted the schedule by a day for us and answered all of our questions. Cody and Seth worked their butts off on the trip - Cody put us on fish, gave advice on our casting, and we got three steelhead in the boat. Seth ran the gear alone, usually a two person job, with the wall tents needed for a late October run. Food was great and lots of it. Enjoyed their company and can definitely recommend! read more

Grant and Lottie were fantastic to work with. We rented a 16' raft for a Hells Canyon float and they were awesome to accommodate the drop off and pick up -which is an epic drive for them. The raft (Maravia), dry box, cooler and dry bags were all in great shape and included in the rental. PFDs were also included and we added some helmets for the trip. You will not be disappointed if you sign up for the "wine and food" guided rafting trip lead by Grant Richie and his crew. We went in late May of 2019. We were a group of three couples and there were two other couples that knew each other, so the group was not too big. For us ten, there were five crew members meaning all the details were attended to rapidly and efficiently. All of the equipment was in fantastic shape. The tents were spacious, bedding and pillow, cot, all the creature comforts were perfect. Plus they set it all up in advance of us getting to the camp! It was like a dream come true to glide onto shore with our abodes waiting for us. We didn't see any other rafters on the river for the whole trip which is the beauty of going early. While the weather didn't completely co-operate, Grant had a portable wood stove the made the dining/gathering tent very cozy and warm. The food was over the top good with plenty of it. Andrae of Andrae's Kitchen in Walla Walla, was our chef. We had two warm appetizers each night, soup, main course and amazing desserts. Each course was served separately so you felt like you were in a five star restaurant. Andrae's creativity in menu planning was amazing. I only wish we had found more morels on our daily hunts to include in our feasts--but it was fun looking for them. Beside the fact that Grant, Brett, Andrae, Seth and Danny made everything perfect for us, they were interesting folks to share time with. Each one was very caring and had a way of making you feel special. They shared personal stories so we could take away a bit of each of them to include with our pleasurable memories. The scenery was second to none. The canyon was very steep, rocky and green which made for perfect habitat for Big Horned Sheep. We had plenty of sightings and enjoyed watching the new babies and their mothers. This was a huge highlight of the trip along with the bald eagles, mergansers, Lewis' and pileated woodpeckers, lazuli bunting, dippers, merlins, swallows, osprey and many more birds. Riding the river was a journey I will never forget. Celebrating my 65th birthday in this way with friends old and new, could not have been better! If you go, you will be happy you did! read more

Fantastic trip! Very professional group. Nice people and an experience of a lifetime. Grant and Lottie Richie are wonderful and every detail was thought of. We first met Lottie at the Minam Store where we put in. She was warm and friendly and provided us with our sleeping bags and dry bags for our gear. We picked up some microbrews at the store and loaded up. Grant and all the crew were very attentive to the guests' needs. Grant had lots of stories along the river, as he has rafted this section of the Wallowa and Grande Ronde over a hundred times. He is a gifted photographer and was able to capture the trip beautifully. The pace was relaxing with stops for short hikes and mushroom hunting. Grant, Andrae and Danny were our boat guides and and they all maneuvered the rafts smoothly and with grace - made it look so easy. Danny is a delight - sweet man with a head of blond curls like our sons'. Seth and Brett manned the supply raft and we shared fascinating conversations with them both and dear Danny as well. Each night when we arrived at camp, everything was set up. The bathroom situation was particularly impressive: a private commode away from camp, at the end of a path, with reflectors for markers along the way. There was a box that held the toilet paper and if the box was missing from the beginning of the path - it meant the commode was in use. The tents were roomy and the cots with thick padding on top made for a comfortable sleep. Andrae Bopp is an excellent chef and every meal was a treat - such a contrast to the rugged scenery as we enjoyed our culinary feasts. He and his sous chef Brett took good care of us and seamlessly worked with our various dietary restrictions We were joking the first morning on how would Andrae outdo himself for breakfast and sure enough they bring us eggs Benedict made with his home-cured ham (salmon for those who don't eat meat). One evening we had corn chowder that was the best soup I have ever tasted (from someone who makes a lot of soups). Another evening we had mouthwatering tuna sashimi as an appetizer, with our nightly selection of wines. Seth has a sweet and very well behaved Spaniel named Hemm and he rode the supply boat proudly while Grant's dog, Aries,(a beautiful hound dog mix) manned Grant's boat (he's a natural photo-bomber). Both dogs were well behaved and fun to watch as they played together. They added a nice quality to the overall feel of the trip. I had never been in this part of the Columbia Plateau and the scenery was stunning. The trip was topped off by a scenic drive back in the shuttle that gave context to where we had come from, and to this part of the Columbia Plateau, with a backdrop of the Wallowas. Truly stunning. We went with 2 other couples who are close friends along with 2 couples we met on the trip - pleasant camaraderie and laughs all around. This was a life changing trip and I am truly grateful for the experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough. read more

Lottie went way above and beyond to help us get a hole patched in a borrowed raft (not Minam'sraft) the night before we put on the river. Thanks so much for a delightful trip! We rented a 16' raft to float from Minam to Boggan's Oasis. The equipment was in great condition and top brands. Plenty of large drybags, and a drybox, cooler, and lifejackets were all included. We used the car shuttle service and it worked well. We also stayed in the Motel the night before we launched. The rooms were simple and rustic, but clean, lovely, and very comfortable! read more

I suggested that the oarlocks could be a couple inches higher than the seat, but this probably wouldn't make a difference at most water levels. We ran at 9000 cfs. read more

I used this service to shuttle my Dodge truck to Mud Creek where we were getting off the Grand Ronde River. My truck wasn't there and after a call to them from Troy I was informed that I didn't leave a key and after a second call from Troy, I learned that someone else had turned in my truck key and they were on the way with my truck. After a six hour wait, the truck showed up and the jack on the trailer was bent backwards and the wiring was pulled out of the plug in on the truck. We had to remove it to drive home. These people suck at their job and everyone should use the shuttle service in Elgin. read more
